NFL Week 5 injury report: Lamar Jackson is out, Jayden Daniels is back, Vikings and Cowboy OLs are in shambles
Here's a look at the final injury reports for Week 5

Heading into Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season, injuries have already been a massive story around the league.
The same is true this week, after the Week 4 games featured several injuries that sent players to injured reserve and knocked some of them out for the rest of the season. Of course, there are also the players who are still on the active roster but also come into the weekend games banged up. And there are plenty of those around the league as well.
In the space below, we'll take a look at the Friday injury reports from all of the teams set to play this weekend, and what those injuries might mean to each game.
Minnesota Vikings (-3.5) at Cleveland Browns (in London)
- Vikings: OL Donovan Jackson (wirst), G Michael Jurgens (hamstring), C Ryan Kelly (concussion), QB J.J. McCarthy (ankle), T Brian O'Neill (knee), OLB Andrew Van Ginkel (neck) OUT; TE Ben Yurosek (knee), OLB Tyler Batty (knee), FB C.J. Ham (knee) QUESTIONABLE
- Browns: DT Michael Hall (knee) OUT; OT Jack Conklin (elbow), CB Greg Newsome II (Hamstring) QUESTIONABLE
Minnesota will be without three starters along the offensive line, which could prove to be a significant issue against Cleveland's fearsome defensive front. Van Ginkel remaining out is obviously a hit to the defense as well.
Conklin got in a full practice on Friday after being limited earlier in the week, while Newsome was limited Thursday and Friday, so his status seems to be more in question than does Conklin's.
Dallas Cowboys (-2.5) at New York Jets
- Cowboys: T Tyler Guyton (concussion), G Tyler Booker (ankle), WR CeeDee Lamb (ankle), WR KaVontae Turpin (foot), S Malik Hooker (toe) OUT; CB Caelen Carson (knee), DE Marshawn Kneeland (ankle), WR Jonathan Mingo (knee), LB Kenneth Murray (knee), RB Miles Sanders (knee/ankle), G Tyler Smith (knee) QUESTIONABLE
- Jets: CB Michael Carter II (concussion) OUT; EDGE Jermaine Johnson II (ankle), RB Kene Nwangwu (hamstring) QUESTIONABLE
The Jets are significantly healthier than the Cowboys here, but could be without a couple of important defensive pieces if Johnson has to sit out.
Dallas could be without as many as four of its five starting offensive linemen (despite being listed as questionable, Smith didn't practice all week), as well as its top wide receiver, slot receiver/kick returner, backup running back and starters at defensive end, linebacker and safety. That's a whole lot of injury issues to deal with, on both sides of the ball.
Houston Texans (-2.5) at Baltimore Ravens
- Texans: DE Denico Autry (knee), DT Foley Fotukasi (shoulder), S Jaylen Reed (knee) OUT
- Ravens: CB Chidobe Awuzie (hamstring), CB Marlon Humphrey (calf), QB Lamar Jackson (hamstring), T Emery Jones Jr. (shoulder), FB Patrick Ricard (calf), ILB Roquan Smith (hamstring) OUT; S Kyle Hamilton (groin), OLB Odafe Oweh (eye), T Ronnie Stanley (ankle), WR Devontez Walker (oblique) QUESTIONABLE
Houston's defense is set up well against a Lamar Jackson-less Ravens team but will be without two rotational players up front.
The Ravens are basically a M.A.S.H. unit against Houston. The secondary is decimated. The defensive front is already without several starters not listed here because they're on injured reserve. There could be more second-level defenders out considering neither Hamilton nor Oweh practiced on Friday. And of course, Jackson is out and will be replaced by Cooper Rush. Things are not looking great in Baltimore at the moment.
Denver Broncos at Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5)
- Broncos: TE Lucas Krull (foot) OUT
- Eagles: LB Nakoke Dean (knee) OUT
The Broncos are very healthy coming into this game.
Dean remains on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
Las Vegas Raiders at Indianapolis Colts (-6.5)
- Raiders: TE Brock Bowers (knee), TE Michael Mayer (concussion), CB Eric Stokes (knee) QUESTIONABLE
- Colts: RB Tyler Goodson (groin), WR Alec Pierce (concussion), CB Kenny Moore II (Achilles), S Daniel Scott (knee) OUT; DE Tyquan Lewis (oblique) QUESTIONABLE
Bowers didn't practice Thursday or Friday but head coach Pete Carroll said the team expects him to play and wanted to get him some rest. Mayer is still progressing through the concussion protocol and was limited throughout the week. If Bowers can't go, he'd likely see significant snaps alongside Ian Thomas.
The Colts won't have Jonathan Taylor's backup or one of their primary outside receivers. Moore's absence could be damaging against Raiders slot receiver Jakobi Meyers.
New York Giants at New Orleans Saints (-1.5)
- Giants: RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. (shoulder) DOUBTFUL; DL Dexter Lawrence (illness), S Tyler Nubin (groin), LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring) QUESTIONABLE
- Saints: C/G Cesar Ruiz (ankle), DE Chase Young (calf), WR Trey Palmer (ankle), CB Isaac Yiadom (hamstring) OUT; TE Juwan Johnson (ankle) T/G Trevor Penning (ankle), OL Dillon Radunz (toe), QB Taysom Hill (knee), TE Foster Moreau (knee), DT John Ridgeway III (shoulder) QUESTIONABLE
Tracy's expected absence means Cam Skattebo, who is off the injury report, will continue to lead the New York backfield. The Giants could be in some trouble defensively if any or all of the three questionable players has to miss the game -- especially Lawrence, but head coach Brian Daboll didn't seem concerned about either Lawrence or Nubin, per beat reporters on scene.
There is a lot up in the air for the Saints, who could be very short-handed on the offensive line if Penning and Radunz both have to miss. The tight end room could also be in flux with Johnson questionable after being limited this week, but Hill and Moreau both returned to practice after long injury absences. Young's absence also affects the New Orleans pass rush against a Giants team starting a rookie quarterback.
Miami Dolphins (-1.5) at Carolina Panthers
- Dolphins: WR Cedrick Wilson Jr. (knee), CB Storm Duck (ankle) OUT
- Panthers: RB Chuba Hubbard (calf), TE Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle), DE Tershawn Wharton (toe), CB Chau Smith-Wade (chest) OUT; LB D.J. Wonnum (hip), DT Cam Jackson (knee), DT LaBryan Ray (ankle) QUESTIONABLE
The Dolphins are already shorthanded at wide receiver thanks to Tyreek Hill's injury, but Wilson has also already been out all year so there's not much different there. Expect more work for Malik Washington and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine in the rotation. Miami's secondary has been banged up all season as well, and Duck's absence further depletes that unit.
The Panthers will be without their No. 1 running back and No. 1 tight end, which is a blow against a defense that has been particularly friendly to opposing offenses this year. The loss of Wharton affects the defense, and if Wonnum is out that could affect the pass rush.
Tennessee Titans at Arizona Cardinals (-7.5)
- Titans: S Mike Brown (knee), OL Blake Hance (shoulder), T JC Latham (hip), WR Bryce Oliver (knee) OUT; DL James Lynch (shoulder), WR Calvin Ridley (knee/elbow), RB Tyjae Spears (ankle), S Kevin Winston Jr. (hamstring) QUESTIONABLE
- Cardinals: DL Darius Robinson (pectoral) OUT; OL Evan Brown (hamstring) DOUBTFUL; CB Denzel Burke (knee), WR Greg Dortch (collarbone), OL Will Hernandez (knee), CB Will Johnson (groin), DL Bilal Nichols (neck) QUESTIONABLE
Tennessee will again be shorthanded on the offensive line with Latham out. Ridley had his snaps managed last week amid his injuries and his only practice this week was a limited session on Friday. Spears is still working his way back from injured reserve.
Robinson is an important absence along the defensive line for the Cards. If Brown and Hernandez both miss, the offensive line will be shorthanded as well. Johnson had injury issues coming out of Michigan and it seems like those have followed him to the pros so far.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Seattle Seahawks (-3.5)
- Buccaneers: CB Jamel Dean (hip), WR Mike Evans (hamstring), RB Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder), S Christian Izien (quad), CB Benjamin Morrison (hamstring) OUT
- Seahawks: T Josh Jones (ankle), DE Demarcus Lawrence (quadricep), S Julian Love (hamstring), CB Devon Witherspoon (knee) OUT
Tampa is dealing with various issues on both sides of the ball. Evans remains out, though Chris Godwin returned last week. Irving is out and will be replaced by the combination of Rachaad White and Sean Tucker. With Dean and Morrison out, the Bucs are down two corners with significant roles against a Seattle passing game that has been very efficient so far this year.
Seattle's elite defense will be without three major contributors. Derick Hall is likely to see more snaps in Lawrence's absence while Nick Emmanwori and Derion Kendrick could see more work on the back end.
Washington Commanders at Los Angeles Chargers (-3)
- Commanders: WR Terry McLaurin (quad), WR Noah Brown (knee/groin), G Sam Cosmi (knee) OUT
- Chargers: T Joe Alt (ankle), WR Derius Davis (knee) OUT; G Mekhi Becton (concussion), TE Will Dissly (knee), TE Tucker Fisk (toe) QUESTIONABLE
Deebo Samuel is off the injury report and will play for Washington, which is down the other two of its top three receivers. Jayden Daniels is also back, and Dan Quinn said he will wear a brace on his left knee.
Alt's absence leaves the Chargers without their top two offensive tackles. Becton practiced in full on Friday and has one more stage of the concussion protocol to pass through, according to Jim Harbaugh. Dissly and Fisk, if not available, would be replaced by more snaps for Oronde Gadsden II and Tyler Conklin.
Detroit Lions (-10.5) at Cincinnati Bengals
- Lions: LB Zach Cunningham (hamstring), CB Khalil Dorsey (concussion/wrist), DT Alim McNeill (knee), RB Sione Vaki (groin) OUT; OT Taylor Decker (shoulder), S Kerby Joseph (knee) QUESTIONABLE
- Bengals: DL Shemar Stewart (ankle) OUT; WR Charlie Jones (achilles) QUESTIONABLE
The Lions have two big players who are listed as questionable, but they each got in limited practice sessions on Friday after not practicing on either Wednesday or Thursday. And of course, they still have some injuries on each level of the defense.
The big absence for the Bengals is obviously Joe Burrow, who remains on injured reserve. Being without Stewart makes them even more short-handed on defense, and could be a blow against a very good Lions offense.
New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills (-7.5)
- Patriots: LB K'Lavon Chaisson (knee), CB Carlton Davis III (illness), LB Jahlani Tavai (calf), DT Milton Williams (ankle) QUESTIONABLE
- Bills: LB Dorian Williams (knee), CB Dorian Strong (neck) OUT; OL Spencer Brown (calf), LB Matt Milano (pectoral), DT Ed Oliver (ankle), DT T.J. Sanders (knee) QUESTIONABLE
Chaisson seems on the doubtful side after getting downgraded to a DNP on Friday, but Davis and Tavai practiced in full and beat reporters on scene said Williams looked healthy.
The Bills are dealing with several injuries on defense, including a couple at linebacker that could be a problem against Patriots tight end Hunter Henry, who has been Drake Maye's top target this year. An absence from Brown could also be an issue along the offensive line. Oliver hasn't played since Week 1 but got in a trio of limited practice sessions this week.
Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars (Monday)
- Chiefs: TBA
- Jaguars: TBA
Analysis to come.
