Texans' Chris Freeman: Picked up by Houston
The Texans signed Freeman on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Freeman tried out with the team during rookie minicamp back in May, and now he's getting his first NFL contract after going undrafted out of Connecticut. At this point, it's believed that he was brought on board primarily to afford veteran Ka'imi Fairbairn more reps off during practice.

Texans' C.J. Stroud: Getting Dell back in fold
Stroud and the Texans offense got a boost in Monday's training camp practice with the return of fourth-year wideout Tank Dell (knee), John Harris of the team's official site reports.
Both Stroud and Dell were selected by the Texans in the 2023 NFL Draft, and the duo formed an immediate connection in their rookie seasons, connecting for 47 catches (on 75 targets) for 709 yards and seven touchdowns across 11 regular-season games. Dell was one of Stroud's top targets in 2024, but the former suffered major leg and knee injuries late in the season that caused him to miss the entire 2025 campaign. Dell's return to team drills Monday is a positive sign for his recovery, and his availability for the start of the regular season would be a significant boost for Stroud, who is looking to bounce back from a lackluster 2025 season.

Texans' Sione Takitaki: Goes to IR
Houston placed Takitaki (undisclosed) on its injured reserve list Monday.
Due to the timing of the transaction, Takitaki is now on track to spend the whole 2026 season on IR. Over three games with Minnesota in 2025, he played 45 snaps, all of them on special teams.

Texans' Brevin Jordan: Tending to knee issue
Coach DeMeco Ryans said Monday that Jordan (knee) is day-to-day, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
There doesn't seem to be reason to believe it's a severe injury at this point, but it brings Jordan's availability for Thursday's preseason game versus the Chargers into question. Until he's back, rookie second-rounder Marlin Klein could see an uptick in reps.

Texans' Juwann Winfree: Signs with Houston
The Texans signed Winfree to a contract Monday.
Winfree worked out with the Texans on Saturday and appears to have flashed enough to warrant a 90-man roster spot. The wide receiver spent training camp time with Houston leading up to the 2025 season as well, and it remains to be seen if the 29-year-old will do enough to make a case to eventually survive cutdown day.

Dell (knee) participated in "full-team drills" Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Dell practiced in pads last week for the first time since injuring his knee, and after initially being limited to individual drills he has advanced to team work. His status for Week 1 remains uncertain, but if he can avoid any setbacks there's reason to believe he'll be out there when the regular season gets underway.

Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Sidelined due to hip injury
Jordan is dealing with a hip flexor strain and will be sidelined for "roughly a week," Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Per Wilson, Jordan has been having a good camp, but he'll have to take some time off due to the injury. That likely rules him out of Houston's first preseason game (Thursday, Aug. 13, versus the Chargers), but Jordan could still get a chance to show off his skill set in game action before the start of the regular season. As it currently stands, he's expected to work as the Texans' third running back this season behind David Montgomery and Woody Marks.

Texans' Owen Wright: New opportunity in Houston
The Texans signed Wright to a contract Saturday.
Wright signed a reserve/future contract with the Buccaneers in January after appearing in three regular-season games in 2025. He was waived by the Bucs in May, but he'll now have the opportunity to participate in training camp practices with the Texans. Wright's chances of making the 53-man roster at the end of training camp are slim, but a strong audition in practices and preseason games could be enough for him to stick around in Houston as a member of the team's practice squad.

Texans' Tank Dell: Week 1 status unclear
Dell said, "I'm taking it one day at a time" when asked Friday about his potential availability for Week 1 of the regular season versus Buffalo, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN reports.
Dell practiced with pads Wednesday for the first time in training camp, though at this point he's limited to individual drills. The Texans have so far not committed to a timeframe for when Dell will be ready to play during the regular season, but the good news is that doctors have deemed his knee "100 percent stable." When Dell gets into a contest, it will be his first game action since he tore multiple knee ligaments and dislocated his kneecap against the Chiefs in Week 16 of the 2024 campaign.

Texans' Brevin Jordan: Nursing minor injury
Jordan was held out of Friday's training-camp practice due to a minor, undisclosed injury, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The nature of Jordan's injury hasn't been announced by the Texans, but it could be related to the torn patellar tendon injury that he sustained during training camp in August of 2025. The decision to keep him out of Friday's practice was a precautionary measure and should not impact his availability ahead of the Texans' preseason opener against the Chargers this Thursday.

Texans' Henry To'oTo'o: Secures big payday
To'oTo'o signed a two-year, $16 million extension with Houston on Thursday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
To'oTo'o has the chance to earn up to $1 million more in incentives. The 25-year-old totaled 95 tackles (42 solo), including 2.5 sacks, four pass deflections and a fumble recovery across 17 regular-season games in 2025. To'oTo'o was a staple on one of the league's best defenses alongside Azeez Al-Shaair, and he should be in store for a similar workload this season, especially considering fellow linebacker E.J. Speed (quad) remains without a clear timetable for return.

Brooks (hand) underwent surgery Wednesday to fix a broken hand, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Brooks reportedly broke his hand in practice and is set for a three-week recovery period. The special teams ace will be a large loss to a Texans roster looking to maintain players with multiphase upside. Players like fellow running back Noah Whittington or wide receiver Justin Watson will have a chance to step up and prove their versatility can merit a 53-man roster spot in 2026.

It's both a sign of progress and a reminder that the Texans want to slow-play things after Dell suffered major knee/leg injuries in each of his first two NFL seasons. The Texans signed Washington on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Washington takes the roster spot of DJ Turner, who was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed ailment in a corresponding move. Washington appeared in 15 regular-season games with the Broncos during the 2022 season, catching four of nine targets for two yards while rushing five times for 30 yards.

The Texans placed Turner (undisclosed) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Turner signed with Houston just last week but will now either miss the entire 2026 season or be let go with an injury settlement at a later date. The 29-year-old wideout has 16 career catches across 32 regular-season appearances.
