Texans' Nico Collins: Coach 'hopeful' for Week 4 return
Head coach DeMeco Ryans said Monday that he's "hopeful" to have Collins available for the Texans' Week 4 game against the Cowboys, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Collins is working his way back from a Grade 1 hamstring strain, which has kept him from playing in either of the Texans' last two games. He hasn't practiced during the past two weeks either, so Collins would likely need to get back on the field as at least a limited participant at some point between Wednesday and Friday to have a realistic shot at suiting up against the Cowboys on Sunday. The Texans' playoff hopes have already taken a hit following an 0-3 start to the season, but the potential return of their No. 1 receiver could invigorate an offense that has struggled in his absence over the past two weeks.

Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Hits all three kicks in loss
Fairbairn connected on a 24-yard field goal and both of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Colts.
The kicker made the most of his opportunities Sunday. He just didn't have very many, which has been a theme this season, as the Texans have given him just six extra points through three contests.

Texans' Dalton Schultz: Held to three catches in Week 3
Schultz caught all three of his targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Colts.
Schultz crashed back down to earth after recording 12 catches for 140 yards in the previous game. The Texans remained without top WR Nico Collins (hamstring), and only Xavier Hutchinson (51) had more receiving yards than Schultz as C.J. Stroud threw for just 167 yards in Sunday's loss. Schultz figures to remain among Stroud's top targets in Week 4 against the Cowboys, even if Collins comes back.

Texans' David Montgomery: Running lanes not materializing
Montgomery rushed 11 times for 33 yards while catching both of his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Colts.
Montgomery was stuffed for no gain on a 4th-and-1 in Colts territory in the first quarter, and he watched Woody Marks convert a one-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. Marks has 29 touches to Montgomery's 44 through three games, and it's concerning that Montgomery isn't monopolizing short-yardage opportunities after scoring three short TDs in the season opener. Neither running back has found much running room behind Houston's underwhelming offensive line, and Montgomery is averaging just 2.8 yards per carry heading into a Week 4 home game against the Cowboys.

Texans' C.J. Stroud: Poor showing in Week 3 loss
Stroud completed 16 of 27 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown while rushing twice for 10 yards in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Colts.
Houston's offense struggled for a second consecutive week in the absence of top wide receiver Nico Collins (hamstring). Stroud threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Foster Moreau in the second quarter, but the Texans dropped to 0-3 for the second consecutive season. Houston bounced back to finish 12-5 in the 2025 regular season, but climbing out of an early hole again won't be easy, especially with the offensive line struggling to create running lanes or protect Stroud, who has been sacked 10 times through three games. Stroud will try to get off the schneid in an all-Texas Week 4 home game against the Cowboys.

Texans' Nico Collins: Making good progress
Collins (hamstring) is making good progress in his recovery, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Collins was forced to miss Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Colts as he continues to nurse a hamstring injury that he suffered Week 1. It was his second straight contest on the bench, but head coach DeMeco Ryans explained following Sunday's loss that the wide receiver has been "progressing really well," leaving the door open for a return in Week 4 for Collins.

Edwards (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Colts.
Edwards couldn't put any weight on his leg and needed assistance off the field, and with the game nearing its end, his day is likely over. If that's indeed the case, Tommy Togiai and Jaden Crumedy are candidates to see more snaps the rest of the way.
