Lions' Derrick Moore: Might come back next week
Moore (groin) might return to practice next week, Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News reports.
The defensive end exited an early August practice session with a groin issue, returned approximately two weeks later, and then surprisingly missed practice again Wednesday. Moore was selected in the second round by the Lions in April's draft after a breakout season at Michigan in 2025, when he recorded 30 tackles, including 10.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and three pass breakups. He should be able to compete for at least a rotational role in Detroit once he's healthy.

Lions' Eric Scott: Joins Detroit
Scott signed with the Lions on Thursday.
The cornerback missed the 2025 season with an undisclosed injury and was not tendered by the Chiefs once the campaign ended. Now that he's healthy again, Scott will try to fight for a roster spot in Detroit. The sixth-round pick of the Cowboys in 2023 has yet to appear in an NFL regular-season game.

Lions' Payton Turner: Moves to IR
Turner (back) was placed on injured reserve by the Lions on Thursday.
The defensive end suffered a back injury July 29 and did not return at any point during training camp. Turner will now likely have to miss the 2026 campaign unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team. The former Cowboy missed the 2025 campaign due to a rib injury.

Lions' Isiah Pacheco: Picks up back injury
Pacheco's knee injury, per head coach Dan Campbell, is not a concern, but he is now dealing with a back injury, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Pacheco has been out of action with an MCL sprain, and although he seems to have moved past the knee issue he is now dealing with another injury. Campbell noted that Pacheco was feeling better Wednesday, but further details were not provided, so it's unclear if the latest setback will affect his availability for Week 1.

Lions' Damone Clark: Goes to Lions' IR
Detroit placed Clark (undisclosed) on its injured reserve list Tuesday.
It's not immediately clear what kind of injury Clark suffered, but the timing of the transaction means he's now in line to spend the entire 2026 season on IR unless he works out an injury settlement with the Lions. His departure could open up more opportunities for fellow free-agent acquisition Amen Ogbongbemiga.

Lions' Sam LaPorta: Practicing Tuesday
LaPorta (hip) returned to practice Tuesday, Richard Silva of The Detroit News reports.
Coach Dan Campbell said last Thursday that LaPorta was tending to a hip injury, and his status for the regular-season opener wasn't guaranteed. Considering the tight end was back on the practice field less than a week later, he's trending in a positive direction. LaPorta still has more than two weeks to get cleared for Week 1.

Lions' Cedrick Wilson: Moved to injured reserve
Detroit placed Wilson (knee) on injured reserve Monday.
Wilson sustained a knee injury during Saturday's 17-13 preseason win over the Commanders, and the injury is severe enough for him to go on injured reserve and miss the entire 2026 season. Wilson signed with the Lions in May after playing with the Dolphins in 2025, when he logged five catches (on nine targets) for 44 yards across 10 regular-season games.

Lions' Roydell Williams: Signs with Detroit
Williams signed with the Lions on Monday.
The running back was waived by the Colts on Aug. 19 to make room for Keenan Allen. Williams initially landed with Indy in July after going undrafted. The Florida State product carried the ball 15 times for 46 yards across five games as a senior in 2025.
