Casey Schmitt SS | SF
Giants' Casey Schmitt: Walks twice in return
Schmitt (arm) went 0-for-1 with two walks in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Padres.
Schmitt was out of the starting lineup for a couple of games after he was hit by a pitch Sunday. He's drawn walks in four of his last six plate appearances, though he's gone just 3-for-22 since June 12. Prior to Monday, Schmitt had walked just one time in his first 35 big-league games. Schmitt will likely continue competing for playing time on the left side of the infield, primarily challenging J.D. Davis and Brandon Crawford for their spots in the lineup. Schmitt owns a .262/.302/.377 slash line with two home runs, 21 RBI, 16 runs scored and two stolen bases through 139 plate appearances.

Casey Schmitt SS | SF
Giants' Casey Schmitt: Back in lineup
Schmitt (arm) is starting at second base Wednesday against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Schmitt was held out of the Giants' lineup for the past two games after getting hit in the arm by a pitch Sunday, but he was able to hit in both games off the bench. He now rejoins the lineup and will bat ninth Wednesday.

Miguel Rojas SS | LAD
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: On bench Wednesday
Rojas is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Angels.
Mookie Betts will start at shortstop and bat leadoff with Jason Heyward handling right field and hitting sixth. Rojas has slashed .229/.264/.275 with zero home runs and five stolen bases through 48 games (163 plate appearances) this season for the Dodgers.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Keeps running Tuesday
Edman went 1-for-5 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Nationals.
Edman has four steals over his last eight games while batting just .231 (6-for-26) with a 7:5 BB:K in that span. He's 13-for-14 on the basepaths this season, putting him in a good position to push for a third consecutive 30-steal campaign. He's slashing just .239/.310/.410 with seven home runs, 27 RBI and 39 runs scored, but he remains a versatile part of the Cardinals' defensive alignment while currently operating as the starting center fielder. A career-low .259 BABIP also suggests he's suffered some bad luck.

Tucupita Marcano 2B | SD
Pirates' Tucupita Marcano: On bench Wednesday
Marcano is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Marcano will receive a respite after he started at shortstop in each of the last three games while going 2-for-11 with a double and a walk. Rodolfo Castro will replace Marcano at shortstop in the series finale.
-
Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: On bench Wednesday
Berti is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Berti will take a seat after he went 3-for-7 with a double, an RBI and a run scored over the first two games of the series. Garrett Hampson will draw the start at the hot corner and bat ninth in the finale with Toronto.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Cubs' Dansby Swanson: X-rays negative on wrist
Swanson (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Pirates, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Swanson suffered an apparent right wrist injury in Tuesday's 4-0 win and underwent X-rays, which came back negative, so he can be considered day-to-day. With the Cubs heading to London to face the Cardinals in their next contest Saturday, the team will be able to give the 29-year-old a few days of rest before reevaluating his availability. Nico Hoerner will slide over to shortstop while Christopher Morel handles second base and bats third as Chicago looks to complete the sweep over Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Ricardo Cabrera SS | CIN
Reds' Ricardo Cabrera: Impressive stateside debut
Cabrera has a .325/.471/.525 slash line with one home run and three steals in 11 games in the Arizona Complex League.
Cabrera was seen as one of the top hitters in the 2022 J-15 international signing class, but he underwhelmed with a .253/.363/.380 slash line in the hitter-friendly Dominican Summer League. Not only has he trimmed his strikeout rate from 22.2 percent to 19.6 percent, but he has bumped his walk rate from 7.2 percent to 19.6 percent while also hitting for more power.

Matt McLain SS | CIN
Reds' Matt McLain: Heads to bench Wednesday
McLain is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.
Since his call-up from Triple-A Louisville on May 15, McLain had started in all but one of the Reds' last 33 games, so he'll get a well-deserved breather in the series finale with Colorado. The Reds will roll out a starting infield of Joey Votto, Jonathan India, Elly De La Cruz and Spencer Steer on Wednesday.

Paul DeJong SS | NYY
Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Swats late home run
DeJong went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.
DeJong took Hunter Harvey deep to center in the ninth to extend the Cardinals' lead to 9-2. He now has two homers in his last three games and has tallied at least a base knock in six straight contests. DeJong continues to receive the lion's share of starts at shortstop and is now slashing .235/.305/.465 with 11 homers, 23 RBI, 28 runs and a 14:55 BB:K over 187 plate appearances.
