  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Getting breather Thursday

Lindor is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Royals. It's a routine day off for Lindor after he started each of the previous nine contests. Lindor is sporting a disappointing .184/.259/.347 batting line across 12 games since coming off the injured list in late June. Bo Bichette will handle shortstop and Mark Vientos will play third base for the Mets in Thursday's series finale.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Crosses plate three times Sunday

Lindor went 1-for-4 with a walk, three runs scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over Atlanta. The shortstop reached on an error to lead off the game, singled in the second inning and drew a free pass in the ninth, coming around to score each time. Lindor is gaining some momentum at the plate, hitting safely in four straight contests while going 5-for-16 with a homer, two RBI and four runs, but on the season he still carries what would be a career-low .690 OPS through 145 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Goes yard again Wednesday

Lindor went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays. The star shortstop has just four hits in 23 at-bats (.174) over six games since coming off the IL, but three of those knocks have gone for extra bases, including Lindor's ninth-inning shot off Patrick Corbin on Wednesday. Lindor's still trying to find his timing at the plate after missing two months due to a calf strain, but two long balls in the last three contests in an encouraging sign.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Pops homer in Monday's loss

Lindor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Blue Jays. The star shortstop supplied the only offense for the Mets in a 2-1 loss, taking Trey Yesavage deep in the seventh inning to spoil a shutout bid for Toronto. Lindor has hit safely in three straight games as he regains his form following a two-month layoff due to a calf strain, but on the season he still sports a disappointing .679 OPS with three homers and two steals in 28 contests.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Exiting lineup Sunday

Lindor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies. The Mets are easing Lindor back into a full-time role after he returned from the injured list June 24 following a two-month stay on the shelf due to a left calf strain. He'll sit for the second time in five games since his reinstatement, giving way to Bo Bichette at shortstop as Mark Vientos handles third base. Through his first three starts back, Lindor has gone 2-for-12 with a triple, a walk, two RBI and a run.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Triples in win

Lindor went 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, two RBI and one run scored in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Phillies. Lindor tied things up with a two-run triple before scoring what proved to be the game-winning run in the sixth inning. In three games since returning from the injured list Wednesday, the 32-year-old has gone 2-for-12 and has yet to strike out. On the season, he's slashing .219/.305/.352 with seven extra-base hits, seven RBI, 15 runs scored and two steals across just 118 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Sitting Thursday

Lindor isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs. Lindor went 0-for-5 during his first game back from the IL in the second half of Wednesday's doubleheader, and he'll now step out of the lineup as the Mets ease him back into regular playing time following the extended absence. Ronny Mauricio will fill in as New York's shortstop and bat seventh.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Returning for Game 2 of twin bill

Manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed that Lindor (calf) will be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to the second game of the Mets' doubleheader Wednesday with the Cubs, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. The Mets weren't planning on having Lindor play both ends of the twin bill after he played eight innings at shortstop Tuesday in his third and final rehab game with Triple-A Syracuse, so the five-time All-Star will remain off the roster for the early contest of the doubleheader to give the team some more flexibility. Lindor should return to the lineup for the nightcap in what will be his first appearance for the Mets since April 22. Before straining his left calf, Lindor slashed just .226/.314/.355 over 105 plate appearances for New York, with the fractured right hamate bone he sustained in February likely contributing to his slow start.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Could be activated during twin bill

Lindor (calf) might be activated from the 10-day injured list between games during Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. After playing eight innings at shortstop in a rehab game for Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday and going 2-for-5, Lindor is on the doorstep of activation. The Mets won't want him to play both ends of the twin bill Wednesday, however, so adding him back to the roster for the nightcap would leave the team at full strength for the matinee. Lindor has been shelved since April 22 with a calf strain, and he's expected to be eased back into action after he didn't play back-to-back days in official games during his rehab assignment.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Closing in on return

Lindor (calf) is expected to play a simulated game Monday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. The star shortstop played a full nine innings in the field Sunday in a rehab game with Triple-A Syracuse, going 0-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and a run. He'll pick up some more at-bats Monday, then is likely to get a day off before potentially being activated from the injured list Wednesday. Even if Lindor needs a little more time beyond Wednesday to recover, he's tracking toward a return to the big-league lineup this week. Through his first 105 plate appearances this season prior to straining his left calf April 22, Lindor had a .226/.314/.335 slash line with two home runs, two steals, five RBI and 14 runs.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Could begin rehab stint next week

Lindor (calf) played three innings in a simulated game Friday, and he could begin an official rehab assignment Monday, MLB.com reports. The star shortstop's absence from the lineup since April 22 has been a big factor in the Mets' poor start to the season, but Lindor appears to be closing in on his return. The team seems confident he won't need a lengthy rehab stint despite the long layoff, which could put him in position to be back in the lineup for a home series against the Phillies that begins June 26. Prior to straining his calf, Lindor has just begun to get rolling at the plate, slashing .304/.319/.457 over his last 12 games.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Expected back before end of June

Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Friday that he expects Lindor (calf) to return "this month," Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv reports. Lindor played two simulated innings against a minor-league pitcher Friday, and he will repeat that step multiple times next week. The 32-year-old is expected to require a brief rehab assignment after that. Lindor might be ready to rejoin the active roster by the Mets' next homestand that begins June 22, which would be exactly two months since he sustained a left calf strain that sent him to the injured list.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Full baseball activities this week

Lindor (calf) will go through full baseball activities this week during the Mets' homestand, Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv reports. Lindor has been ramping up his activity level recently and will have no major restrictions this week as he continues to crank it up a notch. The star shortstop has been sidelined since late April with a left calf strain, so he is sure to require a rehab assignment before rejoining the Mets' active roster. Those rehab games could come next week if all goes well with Lindor's workouts this week.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Begins running, other activities

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that Lindor (calf) has begun a running progression, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports. It's the first tangible sign of real progress for Lindor, who is going through other baseball activities like hitting and fielding grounders, as well. The star shortstop has already missed more than a month of action with a left calf strain and will likely require a handful of rehab games before being activated. Lindor should be back sometime in June, though there remains no specific timeline for his return.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Not yet running

Lindor (calf) has yet to begin running, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. The star shortstop has been out since April 22 due to a calf strain, and he still hasn't been able to resume baseball activities. The Mets originally hoped Lindor would only miss another month or so after he underwent a follow-up MRI a couple weeks ago, but the lack of progress in his recovery since then puts that timeline in some question, as Lindor will need a rehab assignment before being cleared to come off the IL.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Team hoping for return in June

The Mets "have hope" that Lindor (calf) will return to the active roster in about a month, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. An MRI last week showed that Lindor's left calf strain is healing, but not yet to the point that he has been cleared for baseball activities. The star shortstop has already been sidelined for nearly one month of action, and he still has approximately one more month to go. New York has been utilizing Bo Bichette at shortstop and Brett Baty at third base of late while Lindor remains shelved.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Still no timetable for return

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Thursday that an MRI on Lindor's left calf showed healing, but there remains no timetable for the shortstop's return, Steve Gelbs of SNY reports. Lindor has been resting his calf strain for the past three weeks and will now move to the strength-training portion of his recovery. He still appears several weeks away from a return, but more should be known about a potential timetable as he ramps up workouts.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Set for MRI this week

Lindor (calf) will undergo an MRI this week, likely on Wednesday, to check on his recovery, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. If the results of the imaging are encouraging, a clearer timeline for the star shortstop's return from a calf strain should come into focus. Lindor is out of a walking boot, but as of yet there's no concrete plan for him to resume baseball activities. The 32-year-old has been sidelined since April 22 and has a disappointing .226/.314/.335 slash line through 105 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Shut down until mid-May

Lindor (calf) will wear a boot for the next week and remain shut down for at least three weeks, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. After the three weeks are up, Lindor will have more imaging on his left calf to check his progress. He could resume baseball activities at that point if the Mets are satisfied with the MRI, but Lindor would be ramped back up slowly. It all points to a lengthy absence for the star shortstop, but more will be known about a timeline by mid-May. Ronny Mauricio is filling in at shortstop for the Mets in Lindor's stead.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Placed on IL with calf strain

The Mets placed Lindor on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left calf strain. It's another tough break for the Mets, as they'll now lose Lindor to a strained calf after just getting Juan Soto back from his own calf strain. Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, manager Carlos Mendoza said that Lindor's strain is worse than Soto's was, so Lindor's absence is likely to last longer than the two-and-a-half weeks Soto was out. Ronny Mauricio is up from Triple-A Syracuse and will fill in as the Mets' primary shortstop until Lindor returns.
