Rangers' Cal Quantrill: Drawing another start
Quantrill is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Nationals at Globe Life Field.
The Rangers moved Quantrill to the bullpen last weekend, but he made just one relief appearance before he was plugged back into the rotation after Nathan Eovaldi (elbow) landed on the injured list. After taking a no-decision last Wednesday against the Angels while giving up one run over five innings, Quantrill will be awarded a second straight start. He'll tentatively line up for a two-start week, with another turn through the rotation awaiting him next Sunday at home versus the Angels.

Rangers' Jake Burger: Lifts 21st homer
Burger went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a second RBI in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Athletics.
Burger had gone 11 games without a multi-hit effort, batting just .200 with a homer and five RBI in that span. He went deep in the second inning off Jacob Lopez to open the scoring. Burger is now batting .239 with a .725 OPS, 21 homers, 73 RBI, 52 runs scored, 18 doubles and two stolen bases over 119 contests this season as the Rangers' primary first baseman.

Rangers' Cody Bradford: Lasts just four innings
Bradford allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Sunday.
Bradford gave up a two-run home run to Lawrence Butler in the second inning. While the hit total against Bradford was a little high, he was able to raise his pitch count to 81 (58 strikes) as he continues to build up from a long-term elbow injury that kept him out of action in 2025. He's posted a 2.93 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB through 15.1 innings over three starts this year. He is projected to make his next start at home versus the Angels, though it's unclear who between Bradford, Kumar Rocker and Cal Quantrill will stick around in the rotation when Jack Leiter (ankle) is ready to come off the 60-day injured list.

Rangers' Josh Jung: Starts up running program
Jung (calf) did some running on the field Sunday and could be cleared to begin a defensive progression within the next few days, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Jung had already been hitting and throwing, but taking part in mobility work represents an even more meaningful step in the right direction as he works his way back from a left calf strain. If Jung's calf responds well to Sunday's workout, he'll likely start fielding grounders and incorporating more change-of-direction running into his rehab program. The 28-year-old could then head out on a rehab assignment soon thereafter and potentially make his return to the Texas lineup before the end of the month.

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Plays catch without issue Sunday
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said that deGrom (triceps) responded "really well" to playing catch Sunday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
DeGrom is working through right triceps fatigue, which forced him out of his most recent start in Thursday's 7-0 loss to the Angels after just two innings. With an MRI earlier in the week revealing no major red flags, deGrom looks like he could avoid a stint on the injured list, but the Rangers have yet to lock him in for his next start. The fact that he played catch without issue is a promising sign, but deGrom may need to make it through a bullpen session Monday before the Rangers confirm him for his next turn through the rotation, which comes up Wednesday against the Nationals.

Rangers' Nicky Lopez: Out of lineup vs. lefty
Lopez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
The left-handed hitter will retreat to the bench for the second time in the series against another southpaw in Jacob Lopez. Justin Foscue will fill in for Lopez at the keystone and bat fifth.

Rangers' Joc Pederson: Out against lefty
Pederson is absent from the lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Athletics.
With southpaw Jacob Lopez slotted as the opposing pitcher for the Athletics, the left-handed-hitting Pederson will ride the bench for Sunday's affair. Austin Wynns will slot in as the designated hitter and bat eighth for Texas.

Rangers' Corey Seager: Resting Sunday
Seager is out of the lineup for Sunday's matchup against the Athletics.
After playing in nine consecutive games for Texas, Seager will receive a breather and sit out the rubber match of the team's series with the Athletics. Ezequiel Duran will move over to shortstop and bat second Sunday.

Rangers' Jack Leiter: Could be option for rotation this week
The Rangers could bring Leiter (ankle) back from the 60-day injured list during the upcoming week if Jacob deGrom (triceps) is unavailable to make his next scheduled start Wednesday versus the Nationals, Theo DeRosa of MLB.com reports.
Imaging on deGrom's injured right triceps confirmed revealed nothing concerning, but the right-hander's availability for his next turn through the rotation is still in doubt. Leiter -- who has been on the shelf June 21 while recovering from surgery to remove a loose body from his right ankle -- was able to make his first rehab start this past Thursday for Triple-A Round Rock, during which he covered 2.2 scoreless innings and 48 pitches. The Rangers had initially placed for Leiter to make at least one more rehab start and build up his pitch count before coming back from the IL, but the banged-up state of the big-league rotation -- both deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi (elbow) are recovering from injuries -- could accelerate Leiter's timeline to return.

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Imaging yields positive news
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said that imaging on deGrom's injured right triceps Saturday revealed encouraging news, but the right-hander may not make his next scheduled start, Theo DeRosa of MLB.com reports.
The imaging revealed nothing concerning, validating deGrom's original diagnosis of right triceps fatigue, which forced him out early in his most recent start Thursday against the Angels. While deGrom appears to have avoided any sort of major setback, the Rangers aren't yet ready to commit to him being ready to go for his next turn through the rotation, which is expected to come up Wednesday against the Nationals in Arlington. Options to replace deGrom next Wednesday would include Jack Leiter (ankle), Jordan Montgomery and Cal Quantrill.

Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Hits go-ahead homer
Langford went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Athletics.
Langford had gone 19 games without a multi-hit effort entering this contest. He hit just .119 with four extra-base hits and a 10:22 BB:K in that span. The outfielder's biggest hit Saturday was his go-ahead homer in the sixth inning, which ended up being the difference. Langford is batting .256 with a .789 OPS, 14 homers, 33 RBI, 41 runs scored, 14 doubles, two triples and nine stolen bases over 72 games.

Rangers' Jacob Latz: Works two innings for save
Latz allowed a walk and struck out two over two scoreless and hitless innings to earn the save in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Athletics.
Latz has been shaky at times since the All-Star break, allowing four runs (three earned) over 11.1 innings in his last nine games. He was sharp Saturday, protecting a one-run lead in the eighth inning before staying on for the ninth after the Rangers' offense gave him some extra cushion to work with. Latz has converted 24 of 27 save chances this season while posting a 1.77 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 58:15 K:BB across 56 innings.

Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Collects seventh win
Gore (7-9) allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.2 innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Saturday.
Gore wasn't as sharp as he has been lately, but he did well enough to pick up his first win in five starts. The damage on his line came from a Henry Bolte three-run home run in the second inning. Gore has earned quality starts in two of his last four appearances, allowing seven runs over 24 innings in that span. For the season, he has a 4.45 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 154:51 K:BB through 139.2 innings over 26 starts. The strikeout upside is encouraging, and the Rangers will need Gore to stay sharp as they battle for a playoff spot. His next start is projected to be at home in a favorable matchup versus the Angels.

Rangers' Marco Gonzales: DFA'd by Rangers
The Rangers designated Gonzales for assignment Saturday.
The Rangers will push Gonzales off the active and 40-man rosters to create roster space for Jakob Junis (thigh), who returned from the 15-day injured list Saturday. Gonzales has surrendered just one run in 6.2 innings with the Rangers but carries a 7.57 ERA and 1.87 WHIP across 69 frames in the minors this season.

Rangers' Jakob Junis: Reinstated from injured list
The Rangers reinstated Junis (thigh) from the 15-day injured list Saturday.
Junis went on the injured list July 30 due to a left adductor strain. He was on the IL for just beyond the minimum and didn't need to embark on a rehab assignment. He'll join the Rangers for the rest of the team's weekend road series against the Athletics, to which he'll bring a 2.70 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 40 innings this season. Marco Gonzales was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Rangers' Elias Diaz: Sitting Saturday
Diaz is not in the Rangers' starting lineup against the Athletics on Saturday.
Diaz will be out of the lineup after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Friday's 8-3 loss to the A's. Austin Wynns will start behind home plate Saturday and bat eighth while forming a battery with MacKenzie Gore.
