  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Sitting third straight

Neto (neck) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Wednesday will mark the Angels' third consecutive game without Neto in the starting nine while he battles whiplash. Manager Kurt Suzuki said the decision to sit him down was precautionary, per Bollinger, so it doesn't seem like the team is worried about the 25-year-old's injury leading to a stint on the IL. Oswald Peraza will pick up another start at shortstop; meanwhile, Neto will have a team off day to recover ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Dodgers.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Launches 10th homer

Crawford went 3-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Mets.

Crawford was responsible for three of the Mariners' six hits Wednesday and their lone run -- the shortstop led off the home half of the first inning with a 409-foot blast off Freddy Peralta, his 10th homer of the year and fourth in his last nine games. Crawford's boosted his slash line to .224/.351/.406 across 231 plate appearances this season with 30 runs scored and 23 RBI.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Beginning assignment Thursday

Arias (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Arias has been on the shelf since early April due to a strained left hamstring, but a week after resuming baseball activities, he's now ready to test his hamstring in a competitive setting. He's likely to require an extended rehab assignment because he's been out for so long, but he should be able to return from the IL by the end of June.

  • Luis Vazquez SS | BAL

Orioles' Luis Vazquez: Overcomes broken thumb

Triple-A Norfolk activated Vazquez (thumb) from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Vazquez missed about two months of action due to a broken right thumb, but he's since rejoined Norfolk following a rehab assignment with High-A Frederick. After going 6-for-23 (.261) with four doubles, four RBI and two stolen bases during his assignment, Vazquez launched a solo home run in his return to the Tides on Tuesday.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Not starting Wednesday

Walls (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls exited Monday's 10-9 loss due to left hamstring tightness, though he described his removal from the contest as precautionary and said he felt "100 percent" ready to play if needed, per MLB.com. The Rays have nonetheless opted to hold Walls out of the lineup for the final two games of the series, though he may be available off the bench Wednesday. Ben Williamson will receive another start at shortstop in place of Walls.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Begins rehab assignment

Seager (back) started at shortstop and went 1-for-2 for Double-A Frisco on Tuesday.

Seager played three innings before being removed. In addition to getting on base, he had a few opportunities in the field to begin his rehab assignment. Rangers manager Skip Schumaker described it as a "really good day" for Seager, per Joe Harris and Theo DeRosa of MLB.com. Seager has been on the 10-day injured list since May 18 with lower-back inflammation.

  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Notches two steals in win

Rocchio went 1-for-2 with two steals, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Yankees. He was also hit by a pitch.

Rocchio stole second and third base following his seventh-inning single and scored the Guardians' sixth run. The thefts give him 11 on the season, a new MLB benchmark for Rocchio, who was a prolific base stealer in the minors. He's had double-digit swipes every year since becoming a professional, including a career-high 25 in the 2023 regular season.

  • Trey Sweeney SS | DET

    Tigers' Trey Sweeney: Shut down

Sweeney (shoulder) is dealing with a rotator cuff issue and has been shut down from baseball activities to be evaluated, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Sweeney has been on the shelf all season due to a shoulder strain he sustained at the start of spring training, and the rotator cuff issue will extend his absence. It's not clear how much longer the 25-year-old will be sidelined, but he seems unlikely to be rejoining the Tigers anytime soon.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Taking seat Tuesday

Montgomery is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins.

Montgomery started the previous 17 games and will receive a day off after going 15-for-66 (.227 average) with three doubles, four homers and a 31.5 percent strikeout rate during that span. Luisangel Acuna is picking up a start at shortstop Tuesday for the White Sox.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Sitting again Tuesday

Neto (neck) isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Neto will miss a second consecutive start after being scratched from Monday's lineup due to whiplash following his collision at the plate Saturday. Oswald Peraza will pick up another start at shortstop and bat seventh with Neto out.
