Mets' Devin Williams: Shaky again, but picks up win

Williams (1-1) earned the win over the Twins on Thursday, allowing one run on three hits while striking out two batters over two-thirds of an inning.

The Mets led by three runs entering the ninth inning, and manager Carlos Mendoza intended to immediately deploy Williams for the start of the frame, per Max Goodman of NJ.com. However, miscommunication in the dugout led to fellow reliever Huascar Brazoban -- who finished off the eighth inning -- walking onto the field and crossing the foul line, which meant he had to stay in the game. Brazoban got one out and then exited in favor of Williams, but that meant the latter was no longer in line for a save. Williams didn't have a good outing in any case, yielding three hits and a run, but he was able to hold the lead and was generously granted the win by the official scorer. While that's a small victory for Williams' fantasy managers, it doesn't quell the concern about the veteran reliever's performance of late. After opening the campaign with five straight scoreless outings, Williams has surrendered eight runs over two innings across his past four appearances.

  • Jose Alvarado RP | PHI

Phillies' Jose Alvarado: Scoreless outing in return

Alvarado (back) allowed one hit and one walk in a scoreless ninth inning Thursday against the Cubs. He struck out one.

The hard-throwing left-hander exited Tuesday's meeting with the Cubs due to mid-back spasms, but he needed just one day off to recover and get back on the mound. Although Alvarado has a pitiful 8.64 ERA, 2.16 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB through 8.1 innings, his usage in the ninth frame of a 7-7 game suggests he's right in the mix for save opportunities for at least the next week of action while Jhoan Duran (oblique) recuperates on the 15-day injured list.

  • Victor Vodnik RP | COL

Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Implodes in second loss

Vodnik (0-2) blew the save and took the loss Thursday against the Padres, allowing five runs on four hits and one walk in two-thirds of an inning. He struck out two.

Summoned to protect an 8-5 lead in the ninth inning, Vodnik put forth his worst effort of the season so far. The right-hander gave up a season-high five runs and four knocks in what was his shortest appearance of 2026. Vodnik has a troublesome 7.59 ERA, 2.16 WHIP and 8:6 K:BB over 10.2 innings as Colorado's closer, so it wouldn't be surprising if the Rockies turned to someone like Jaden Hill or Seth Halvorsen the next time a save chance presents itself.

  • Mason Miller RP | SD

Padres' Mason Miller: Nails down ninth save

Miller picked up the save Thursday against the Rockies, allowing one hit and no walks in a scoreless ninth inning.

It was actually the first time in 12 outings this year that Miller was unable to fan a batter. Other than that blemish, the hard-throwing right-hander continues to be nearly untouchable. Miller, who's now up to an MLB-high nine saves in 2026, hasn't given up a run since Aug. 5 of last year, firing 33.2 consecutive regular-season scoreless innings to tie Cia Meredith's franchise record.

  • Tanner Scott RP | LAD

Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Secures first save Thursday

Scott picked up the save Thursday against the Giants, throwing a clean ninth inning.

With Edwin Diaz out for multiple months due to elbow surgery, Scott nailed down his first save of the season Thursday. The expectation is that both Scott and Alex Vesia, the latter of whom has yet to give up an earned run while notching two saves through 8.2 frames, will share save opportunities for the Dodgers while Diaz is on the mend, making both players worthy of roster consideration in all fantasy formats. Scott has been superb so far in his own right, posting a 0.84 ERA, 0.56 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB across 10.2 innings.

  • Rockies' Sammy Peralta: Expected to be called up Friday

Peralta is set to be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Peralta has made seven appearances out of the bullpen with Albuquerque since the Rockies claimed him off waivers April 4, posting a 3.72 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with seven strikeouts over 9.2 innings. The 26-year-old will give Colorado another left-handed option out of the its bullpen ahead of a three-game series against the Mets.

  • Caleb Thielbar RP | CHC

Cubs' Caleb Thielbar: Blows save, leaves with injury

Thielbar exited with an apparent leg injury in the ninth inning of Thursday's game versus the Phillies, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Thielbar suffered a blown save when he served up a game-tying, solo home run to Adolis Garcia to lead off the top of the ninth inning. Three pitches after that, he appeared to tweak his hamstring and had to be pulled. The Cubs should offer an update on Thielbar's condition shortly. Thielbar has been filling in at closer since Daniel Palencia (oblique) went on the injured list. If Thielbar misses time, the Cubs could turn to Ben Brown to close games. Phil Maton (knee) would also be an option if he comes off the IL soon.

  • Craig Yoho RP | MIL

Brewers' Craig Yoho: Activated, optioned to Triple-A

The Brewers reinstated Yoho (calf) from the injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Yoho has been on the injured list all season due to a right calf strain that he suffered during spring training. However, he's been playing in rehab games at Nashville since Sunday and has already pitched 2.1 shutout innings with the Sounds. The 26-year-old righty has dominated minor-league hitters throughout his minor-league career but gave up seven earned runs in just 8.2 innings with the Brewers last season. If he's able to come back from injury and right the ship in Triple-A, it may not be long before he gets another chance in Milwaukee's bullpen.

  • Nationals' Julian Fernandez: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Nationals optioned Fernandez to Triple-A Rochester on Thursday.

Fernandez has appeared in three games since getting called up to Washington on Monday, allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three batters over four innings. The 30-year-old reliever will now head back to the minors, where he owns a 4.70 ERA through 7.2 frames, though he could be invited back to the big leagues later in the year if/when the Nationals need bullpen help.

  • Austin Warren RP | NYM

Mets' Austin Warren: Back in minors

The Mets optioned Warren to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.

Since being recalled from Triple-A on April 14, Warren has made two appearances out of the bullpen and given up one earned run on two hits and no walks while striking out four batters in 1.2 innings. The 30-year-old will now return to Syracuse to work as organizational bullpen depth, clearing space on the active roster for Christian Scott, who will start Thursday's game against Minnesota.
