  • Riley O'Brien RP | STL

Cardinals' Riley O'Brien: Blows save Tuesday

O'Brien blew a save against the Pirates on Tuesday, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk over one inning.

O'Brien was called upon to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning. He couldn't get the job done, largely due to his own wildness -- in addition to giving up two singles, he also walked one and hit two Pirates batters. This was O'Brien's fourth blown save of the season, though he still is tied for the third in the league with 13 successful saves. He's held the opponent without an earned run in 19 of his 23 outings but has given up multiple runs in his other four appearances.

  • Nationals' Richard Lovelady: Collects third save of 2026

Lovelady earned the save in the Nationals' 9-6 win over the Mets on Tuesday after striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth.

With both Gus Varland and PJ Poulin being deployed in Monday's extra-inning loss, Nationals manager Blake Butera turned to Lovelady to protect the team's three-run lead. Lovelady answered the call, needing just 10 pitches (eight strikes) to close out Tuesday's game and capped things off by striking out Carson Benge. Lovelady has a 2.61 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 20:14 K:BB across 20.2 innings this season.

  • Wyatt Mills RP | LAD

Dodgers' Wyatt Mills: Optioned to OKC

The Dodgers optioned Mills to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

Since getting the call to join the active roster May 10, Mills has allowed three earned runs on three hits and seven walks while striking out one batter in 3.1 innings across four appearances. He'll return to the minors to make room for Eric Lauer, though Mills will get to keep his spot on the 40-man roster for now.

  • Caleb Thielbar RP | CHC

Cubs' Caleb Thielbar: Reinstated from injured list

The Cubs activated Thielbar (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Thielbar wound up being sidelined for nearly a month with a left hamstring strain, but he's been cleared to return after making one scoreless rehab appearance. The left-hander had been serving as the Cubs' closer before he got hurt, but with Daniel Palencia now healthy, Thielbar will slide into a setup role.

  • Clay Holmes RP | NYM

Mets' Clay Holmes: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Mets transferred Holmes (leg) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The right-hander was recently shut down from all activities for 6-to-8 weeks due to a fractured right fibula, so it's hardly a surprise he's been moved to the 60-day IL. Holmes is expected to require about a month to build back up to game readiness once fully recovered, so he'll likely be sidelined until at least mid-August.

  • Mets' Anderson Severino: Optioned after contract selected

The Mets selected Severino's contract from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned him to Syracuse on Tuesday.

Severino likely had an opt-out clause in his minor-league contract, and the Mets have added him to the 40-man roster to prevent him from exercising it. He's posted a 1.04 ERA and 18:8 K:BB over 17.1 innings with Syracuse this season and could get a look the next time the Mets need a left-handed reliever.

  • Victor Mederos RP | ATL

Braves' Victor Mederos: Recalled from Triple-A

Atlanta recalled Mederos from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Mederos will give Atlanta some length in the bullpen following Monday's blowout loss in Miami. The 24-year-old holds a 4.81 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 21 strikeouts across 24.1 innings this season with Gwinnett.

  • Brooks Raley RP | NYM

Mets' Brooks Raley: Nabs seventh hold

Raley gave up a run on a hit and two walks in two-thirds of an inning Monday but still recorded his seventh hold of the season in an extra-innings win over the Nationals.

Entering the game to begin the seventh inning with the Mets ahead 5-3, Raley gave up a leadoff double to James Wood and then walked the next two batters to load the bases, but the damage ended up being limited to a CJ Abrams sacrifice fly. Raley's seven holds leads the team, and he's delivered a strong 1.47 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB through 18.1 innings this season.

  • Paxton Schultz RP | WAS

Nationals' Paxton Schultz: Woeful outing Monday

Schultz (0-1) was tagged with the loss Monday against the Mets after allowing seven runs (six earned) on five hits and a walk over one-third of an inning.

Schultz entered the game in the 11th inning but couldn't get the job done. Even though he retired the first batter he faced on a sac bunt, Schultz allowed six straight baserunners before departing the contest. The game was so out of reach by the time he was lifted that manager Blake Butera decided to send third baseman Jorbit Vivas to pitch the rest of the way instead of deploying another arm out of the bullpen. Schultz had given up just five earned runs in his previous 13 appearances (17.2 innings) this season, but this was likely a one-off, disastrous outing for the young right-hander.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Earns win Monday

Brazoban (3-1) earned the win in extra innings Monday against the Nationals after allowing an unearned run on two hits and two walks across two innings. He struck out one.

Brazoban faced a bases-loaded jam with one out in the 10th inning but escaped it unscathed. Even though he allowed a run in the 11th frame, he benefited from the fact that the Mets scored 10 runs in the 12th inning to earn his third win of the season. The run he allowed was unearned, giving him three straight outings without an earned run. Brazoban has been used as an opener at times, but for the most part, he holds a steady role out of the Mets' bullpen. The veteran hurler is enjoying a career-best season thus far, posting a 1.85 ERA and 0.99 WHIP through 20 appearances and 24.1 innings in 2026.
