  • Mets' Cameron Weston: Claimed by Mets, sent to Triple-A

The Mets claimed Weston off waivers from the Orioles on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse. Weston pitched a scoreless inning during his MLB debut back in May but owns a 7.89 ERA and 1.94 WHIP through 51.1 frames in the minors. The Mets will add the 26-year-old to their 40-man roster despite his poor performance and keep him at Triple-A, where he is likely to remain for the remainder of the season. Shawn Ross was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Orioles' Cameron Weston: DFA'd by Baltimore

The Orioles designated Weston for assignment Tuesday. Baltimore selected Weston's contract from Norfolk in late May, and he's had two brief stints in the majors this season. He made his MLB debut May 28 with a scoreless frame against Toronto but has now lost his place on the 40-man roster without making another appearance.

  • Orioles' Cameron Weston: Joining big club

The Orioles selected Weston's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports. Weston has excelled at collecting strikeouts in the minors this season, fanning 40 batters in just 27.1 innings, but he's struggled to limit runs while posting a 6.26 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. Despite his poor effectiveness, the Orioles will add him to their big-league roster and likely deploy him as a multi-inning reliever. Trey Gibson was optioned to Norfolk in a corresponding move.
