Dominic Canzone SEA LF
Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Lifts grand slam in win
4m agoCanzone went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a sacrifice fly in Tuesday's 10-2 win over the Astros.
Canzone set a career high with five RBI in this contest. He hit the grand slam in the fourth inning to blow the game open for the Mariners, and he added the sac fly as icing in the ninth. This may be the jump start he needs to get back on track -- even with this effort, he's just 3-for-19 with a 3:6 BB:K over 10 games in May. For the season, he's hitting .256 with a .797 OPS, four homers, 18 RBI, 12 runs scored, seven doubles and a stolen base over 97 plate appearances. Canzone is handling a platoon role as the Mariners' preferred designated hitter against right-handed pitchers, though he could fill in as a corner outfielder if injuries pile up.

A.J. Ewing NYM LF
Mets' A.J. Ewing: Shines in MLB debut
4m agoEwing went 1-for-2 with a triple, three walks, two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 10-2 win over the Tigers.
Ewing made an immediate impact in his MLB debut, reaching base four times while recording his first career hit on an RBI-triple in the seventh inning. He also swiped his first stolen base in the sixth and consistently showed mature plate discipline throughout the night with three walks. The 21-year-old entered the majors red-hot after slashing .339/.447/.514 across 30 games between Double-A and Triple-A, and his skills appeared to translate seamlessly to the big leagues in his debut performance.
-
Kyle Schwarber PHI LF
Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Homers in fifth straight game
8m agoSchwarber went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and one walk in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Red Sox.
Schwarber took Jovani Moran deep on a middle-middle 92 mph fastball in the top of the first inning. He's now homered in five straight games and leads the league with 17 long balls. Despite the 17 homers, Schwarber has just 28 RBI to go with 29 runs scored, a 27:59 BB:K and a .229/.356/.611 slash line across 188 trips to the plate. Most of the rest of the Philadelphia offense has struggled to find its rhythm 42 games into the season.
-
Randy Arozarena SEA LF
Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Perfect at plate Tuesday
8m agoArozarena went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run, two doubles, a hit-by-pitch, three total RBI, one stolen base and four runs scored in Tuesday's 10-2 win over the Astros.
Arozarena filled up the box score from the No. 5 spot in the order. He hit the homer in the second inning before continuing an impressive performance throughout the game. Arozarena has hit safely in his last six contests, going 12-for-23 (.522) in that span, though all of his knocks over the previous five games were singles. For the season, the outfielder is batting .303 with an .854 OPS, four homers, 16 RBI, 31 runs scored, 11 doubles and 10 stolen bases across 43 games.
-
Bryan Woo SEA SP
Mariners' Bryan Woo: Strikes out nine in win
12m agoWoo (3-2) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out nine over six innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Astros.
Woo threw 74 of 104 pitches for strikes, earning a second straight win. He matched his season-high in strikeouts, a mark he's reached in three of his nine starts so far. He's also recorded six quality starts, though a couple of bad outings have taken a toll on his overall numbers. Woo has pitched to a 3.91 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 47:10 K:BB through 53 innings over nine starts this season. The Mariners' rotation is getting a boost Wednesday with the return of Bryce Miller (oblique), which will likely push Woo's next start to next week in a home matchup against the White Sox.
-
Jhoan Duran PHI RP
Phillies' Jhoan Duran: First save since return from IL
14m agoDuran picked up the save in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Red Sox, allowing one hit and one walk with two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning.
It was Duran's first save since being activated from the injured list last week after he missed nearly a month with an oblique issue. It wasn't an easy save Tuesday, as Duran needed 21 pitches to record three outs. He touched 100 mph with his fastball and has now allowed just one run on three hits and four walks with eight strikeouts across four innings since returning from injury. On the year, Duran owns a 1.69 ERA and 16:4 K:BB over 10.2 innings.
-
Dillon Dingler DET C
Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Slugs seventh homer Tuesday
15m agoDingler went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 10-2 loss to the Mets.
Dingler opened the scoring in the second inning by taking Freddy Peralta deep for his seventh homer of the season. The catcher had dropped off significantly after a strong start to the year, entering Tuesday batting just .161 with a 4:14 BB:K over his previous 16 games. Even with the recent struggles, Dingler still owns a solid .234/.305/.461 slash line with eight doubles, 27 RBI and 14 runs scored across 141 plate appearances.
-
Francisco Alvarez NYM C
Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Exits early Tuesday
3h agoAlvarez was removed from Tuesday's game against the Tigers with a right knee injury.
Alvarez went 1-for-2 with an RBI double and a run Tuesday but limped off the field after taking an aggressive swing at a pitch in the sixth inning. The severity of his injury will become known after he undergoes imaging Wednesday, and if he has to miss any amount of time, Luis Torrens would be in line for extra starts at catcher.
-
Jesus Rodriguez SF C
Giants' Jesus Rodriguez: Taking seat Tuesday
5h agoRodriguez isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.
Rodriguez has settled into a regular role behind the plate for San Francisco, but he'll step out of the starting nine Tuesday after going 0-for-4 with an RBI and a steal in Monday's contest. Eric Haase will handle catching duties and bat ninth.
-
Endy Rodriguez PIT C
Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Recalled from Triple-A
6h agoThe Pirates recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.
In a corresponding move, the Pirates placed Joey Bart on the 10-day injured list with a left foot infection. Rodriguez has slashed .221/.326/.301 with one home run across 113 at-bats for Triple-A Indianapolis on the season. Now up with the Pirates, he will presumably serve as the backup to Henry Davis with Bart down.
-
Joey Bart PIT C
Pirates' Joey Bart: Placed on IL
6h agoThe Pirates placed Bart on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left foot infection, retroactive to Sunday.
Manager Don Kelly said before Tuesday's contest that Bart was "banged up," and the 29-year-old backstop will officially have to miss at least seven more games while his foot heals. Henry Davis will presumably take over as Pittsburgh's primary backstop, and Endy Rodriguez will come up from Triple-A Indianapolis to provide depth behind the plate.
-
Joey Bart PIT C
Pirates' Joey Bart: Dealing with injury
6h agoManager Don Kelly said Bart, who is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies, is "banged up," Chris Halicke of DK Pittsburgh Sports reports.
Bart is sitting for a second consecutive game Tuesday after starting five of Pittsburgh's previous six contests. It's unclear if the 29-year-old is in danger of landing on the injured list. Henry Davis is starting behind the plate and batting ninth in the series opener versus Colorado.
-
Spencer Horwitz PIT 1B
Pirates' Spencer Horwitz: Two more hits Tuesday
33m agoHorwitz went 2-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Rockies.
With a second straight two-hit game, Horwitz now has his average up to a season-high .272, and he's currently riding a six-game hitting streak. In nine games this month, Horwitz is 10-for-30 (.333) with four doubles, one triple, nine RBI, two runs scored and an 8:3 BB:K. On the year, Horwitz has an impressive .393 on-base percentage and has walked more times (23) than he's struck out (18) across 140 trips to the plate.
-
Andrew Vaughn MIL 1B
Brewers' Andrew Vaughn: Not starting Tuesday
6h agoVaughn is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Vaughn has gone 3-for-13 with three walks, a double and a homer in five games since coming off the injured list last week, though he finds himself on the bench Tuesday for the second time in Milwaukee's past three contests. Jake Bauers, who has an .850 OPS across 20 at-bats in May, will instead start at first base in the series opener versus San Diego.
-
Nate Lowe CIN 1B
Reds' Nathaniel Lowe: Sitting again Tuesday
9h agoLowe is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.
It's the second straight game on the bench versus a right-handed starter for Lowe, who has an .876 OPS through 29 games but has scuffled a bit of late with just four hits and nine strikeouts in his past 22 at-bats. Eugenio Suarez (oblique) isn't expected to come off the injured list in the near future, so Lowe should still get plenty of playing time going forward despite the consecutive absences.
-
Jonathan Aranda TB 1B
Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Racks up three RBI in victory
20h agoAranda went 2-for-3 with a home run, two total runs and three total RBI in an 8-5 win over Toronto on Monday.
Aranda got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, added a run-scoring single in the second and swatted a solo homer in the fifth. The 27-year-old had gone 11 games without a long ball coming into Monday, but he's otherwise been hot at the plate, slashing .469/.526/.594 with seven RBI through 10 games in May. Aranda has eight homers through 40 contests on the campaign, putting him well on pace to surpass the career-high 14 long balls he hit across 106 regular-season games in 2025.
-
Ben Rice NYY 1B
Yankees' Ben Rice: Swats 13th homer
21h agoRice went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Orioles on Monday.
Rice got the Yankees going with a two-run blast in the third inning. Those ended up being the only runs the team would score, and Rice finished with two of New York's five total hits. The powerful first baseman went 0-for-13 in his prior three contests after returning from a four-game absence due to a hand injury, but Monday's homer suggests the issue is a thing of the past.
-
Bryce Eldridge SF 1B
Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Will remain in mix for at-bats
1d agoManger Tony Vitello stated Monday that Eldridge will receive a chance to pinch hit in every game that he isn't listed in the starting lineup, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Eldridge isn't in the starting nine for a second straight game, as San Francisco is electing to deploy Casey Schmitt at first base and Rafael Devers in the designated hitter slot for Monday's series opener against the Dodgers. However, Vitello acknowledged that Eldridge will remain in contention for starts, and the club will also utilize his power bat off the bench in late-game situations as needed in an effort to continue his development.
-
Nick Gonzales PIT 2B
Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Double, RBI in win Tuesday
39m agoGonzales went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Rockies.
Gonzales drove home Oneil Cruz with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning and later hit a ground-rule double in the eighth. He continues to swing a hot bat for the Pirates and has seven hits in 16 at-bats over the last three games. Gonzales now has four multi-hit games in nine contests this month and is slashing .321/.383/.371 with seven doubles, zero homers, 19 RBI, 17 runs scored, three stolen bases and an 11:27 BB:K across 154 plate appearances this season.
-
Jose Caballero NYY 2B
Yankees' Jose Caballero: Slated to remain starter upon return
1h agoYankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Caballero (finger) is expected to reclaim the team's starting shortstop job when he returns from the injured list, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Caballero landed on the 10-day IL on Tuesday after being diagnosed with a right middle-finger fracture. The speedster was adamant that he won't miss more than the required 10 days, per Hoch, though New York's medical staff will ultimately have the final say about when he's ready to return. Anthony Volpe was called up from Triple-A to take Caballero's spot on the 26-man roster and as the Yankees' primary shortstop. Boone's comments suggest that Caballero has the inside track to the starting role when he's healthy, though Volpe could force further discussion if he performs well.
-
Andres Gimenez TOR 2B
Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Out of Tuesday's lineup
6h agoGimenez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.
Gimenez will occasionally sit versus left-handed starting pitchers, and that'll be the case Tuesday with Tampa Bay sending out southpaw Shane McClanahan. Ernie Clement is getting the nod at shortstop in Gimenez's place, opening up the keystone for Lenyn Sosa.
-
Michael Stefanic ATH 2B
Athletics' Michael Stefanic: Contract selected
7h agoThe Athletics selected Stefanic's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old will get a look in the big leagues with the A's after signing as a non-roster invitee in December and failing to make the Opening Day roster. Stefanic's .250/.351/.355 slash line in 149 plate appearances at Triple-A this year is underwhelming, though he does have a 17:16 BB:K. He'll provide the club with some infield depth as Jacob Wilson (shoulder) heads to the injured list.
-
Jose Caballero NYY 2B
Yankees' Jose Caballero: Dealing with finger fracture
7h agoThe Yankees placed Caballero on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a right middle finger fracture.
Caballero suffered the injury during Sunday's loss to the Brewers on a dive back into first base. It's unclear exactly how long the 29-year-old will be sidelined, but he'll be eligible to be reinstated from the IL on May 21. Anthony Volpe was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move and is likely to step in as New York's primary shortstop.
-
Jazz Chisholm NYY 2B
Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Exiting starting nine
8h agoChisholm is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Baltimore.
It's a rare day off for Chisholm, who is just 3-for-23 with a 1:11 BB:K over his last six games. Amed Rosario will occupy second base and bat fifth for the Yankees.
-
Alex Bregman CHC 3B
Cubs' Alex Bregman: Blasts fourth homer Tuesday
1h agoBregman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-2 loss against Atlanta.
Bregman accounted for Chicago's only hit of the game, launching a solo homer off Grant Holmes in the fourth inning to get the Cubs on the board. The veteran has struggled badly at the plate in May, going just 6-for-39 (.154) with a 5:10 BB:K across 10 games. Bregman's now slashing .233/.326/.350 with four homers, five doubles, 14 RBI and 17 runs scored in 187 plate appearances.
-
Matt Chapman SF 3B
Giants' Matt Chapman: Getting rest Tuesday
5h agoChapman isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.
Chapman will catch a breather Tuesday after going 0-for-4 with an RBI and two strikeouts during Monday's series opener. His absence will allow Casey Schmitt to start at the hot corner while Bryce Eldridge starts at first base.
-
Brett Harris ATH 3B
Athletics' Brett Harris: Optioned to Triple-A
7h agoThe Athletics optioned Harris to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
Harris was in the majors for a couple weeks but hardly played, going hitless in six plate appearances. Michael Stefanic is taking his spot on the active roster.
-
Eugenio Suarez CIN 3B
Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Resuming hitting Tuesday
9h agoSuarez (oblique) will resume hitting Tuesday and is set for an MRI Thursday to check the progress of his healing, Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati reports.
If the Reds like what they see with Suarez's imaging later this week, he will travel with the team on its upcoming road trip and continue to ramp up his activities. A rehab assignment should come shortly after that if all goes well. Suarez has been sidelined since late April with a left oblique strain, but he should be able to make it back before the end of May if he remains free of setbacks.
-
Kyle Karros COL 3B
Rockies' Kyle Karros: Grabbing seat Tuesday
10h agoKarros is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Pittsburgh.
Karros will get a breather after he had a modest nine-game hitting streak come to an end in the Rockies' last contest Sunday in Philadelphia. Willi Castro will cover third base and bat seventh in Karros' stead.
-
Max Muncy LAD 3B
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Blasts 11th homer in loss
14h agoMuncy went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Monday's loss to the Giants.
Muncy homered for the second consecutive day, blasting an opposite-field solo shot in the sixth inning after already driving in a run with a bases-loaded single in the fourth frame. The third baseman owns an .862 OPS through 10 games in May and has been even better across the entirety of 2026. Through 39 games, he's slashing .280/.375/.568 with 11 homers, 17 RBI and 27 runs scored.
-
Oneil Cruz PIT SS
Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Three-hit night in win Tuesday
45m agoCruz went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Rockies.
Cruz doubled and scored in both the first and fifth innings, accounting for most of the offense for Pittsburgh in this low-scoring affair. It marked Cruz's second three-hit game in the last three contests, and he's now on a four-game hitting streak, having gone 8-for-18 during that span. On the year, the center fielder is slashing .266/.330/.491 with 10 home runs, 29 RBI, 33 runs scored, 15 stolen bases and a 14:62 BB:K across 185 plate appearances. Cruz has one of the most prolific batted-ball profiles in the sport, as he's in the 95th percentile or better in average exit velocity, barrel rate, hard-hit rate and bat speed.
-
Gavin Lux TB SS
Rays' Gavin Lux: Shut down after setback
7h agoThe Rays pulled Lux (shoulder/ankle) off his rehab assignment Tuesday due to a left shoulder injury, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.
Lux initially landed on the injured list at the beginning of the season due to a right shoulder impingement, and he's already had his rehab paused once due to an ankle injury. Now dealing with an injury in his other shoulder, the Rays will shut him down for the foreseeable future and send him in for imaging later in the week. Richie Palacios and Ben Williamson will continue to receive starts at the keystone while Lux is out.
-
Jacob Wilson ATH SS
Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Out with shoulder subluxation
7h agoThe Athletics placed Wilson on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left shoulder subluxation.
Wilson injured the shoulder while diving for a ball during Sunday's game against the Orioles. A subluxation is a partial dislocation, so Wilson's absence could be an extended one. Per Martin Gallegos of MLB.com, Wilson will go through exercises to strengthen and stabilize the shoulder before he's cleared for baseball activities. Darell Hernaiz should see the lion's share of playing time at shortstop for the A's while Wilson is out.
-
Anthony Volpe NYY SS
Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Joining big club
8h agoThe Yankees are recalling Volpe from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Volpe was reinstated from the injured list and optioned to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 3 since Jose Caballero was performing well as New York's primary shortstop. Caballero is now headed to the injured list with a finger injury, opening the door for Volpe to potentially take over the starting job after beginning the season on the IL while completing his rehab from October shoulder surgery. The 25-year-old totaled 19 homers and 18 steals in 153 regular-season games while playing through the shoulder issue last year, though his .212/.272/.391 slash line left a lot to be desired. Despite Volpe's promotion, Max Scheumann is getting the nod at shortstop Tuesday in Baltimore.
-
Jim Jarvis ATL SS
Braves' Jim Jarvis: Sent to Triple-A
11h agoAtlanta optioned Jarvis to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old was called up last week and will return to the minors after going 1-for-5 with two strikeouts in his first two MLB games. Jarvis has an .863 OPS with four homers and 15 steals in 33 games at Gwinnett this year and could get another look in the majors later in 2026 if Atlanta needs more infield depth.
-
Conrad Cason BOS SS
Red Sox's Conrad Cason: Returns to action
12h agoCason (elbow) is hitting .267 with two home runs and a 3:1 K:BB in four games in the Florida Complex League.
The two-way prospect is on his way back from August 2025 Tommy John surgery, and while he isn't ready to pitch in games, he is healthy enough play in complex-league games as the designated hitter. Cason is still just 19 and has significant upside as a hitter and as a right-handed pitcher, but the young shortstop will likely be limited to DH duty for most or all of 2026.

Rangers' Brandon Nimmo: Diagnosed with sprain
35m agoNimmo was diagnosed with a sprained left ankle following his removal from Tuesday's game against Arizona, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Nimmo made an early exit from Tuesday's contest after rolling his ankle in the sixth inning. X-rays came back negative after the game, but the Rangers will still approach the situation on a day-to-day basis. If Nimmo isn't cleared to play in Wednesday's series finale, Sam Haggerty would be a likely candidate to pick up a start in the outfield.

Mike Yastrzemski ATL RF
Braves' Mike Yastrzemski: Launches first homer
1h agoYastrzemski went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.
Yastrzemski opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning before delivering the biggest swing of the night in the fifth, launching a two-run homer off Colin Rea to give Atlanta the lead. The long ball was his first of the season and also snapped a 12-game stretch without an extra-base hit, during which he was batting just .185. Yastrzemski is now slashing .214/.276/.291 with four doubles, nine RBI and 16 runs scored across 127 plate appearances.

-
Tatsuya Imai HOU SP
Astros' Tatsuya Imai: Takes loss in return
17m agoImai (1-1) allowed six runs on five hits, three walks and two hit batsmen while striking out three over four innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Mariners.
Imai missed a month due to right arm fatigue. He gave up two big knocks Tuesday, a two-run home run to Randy Arozarena in the second inning and a grand slam to Dominic Canzone in the fourth. Those were the first two homers Imai has allowed in his major-league career. He threw 46 of 80 pitches for strikes in his return from the injured list, so his workload may need to be monitored going forward. With a 9.24 ERA, 2.05 WHIP and 16:14 K:BB over 12.2 innings across four starts, Imai hasn't done much yet to impress in fantasy. He is tentatively projected to make his next start on the road in Minnesota.
-
Zack Wheeler PHI SP
Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Goes 7.1 innings in win over Boston
20m agoWheeler (2-0) earned the win Tuesday against the Red Sox, allowing one run on six hits and no walks with four strikeouts across 7.1 innings.
Wheeler needed just 87 pitches to record 22 outs, as he generated just seven whiffs and induced plenty of weak contact, including a pair of double-play groundouts in the second and third innings. The right-hander has looked great in four starts since returning from shoulder surgery. He's gone at least six innings in each of his last three outings and now owns a 2.55 ERA and 22:6 K:BB across 24.2 innings. Wheeler is slated to next take the mound Sunday in Pittsburgh.
-
Freddy Peralta NYM SP
Mets' Freddy Peralta: Earns 3rd win Tuesday
25m agoPeralta (3-3) earned the win Tuesday against the Tigers, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out seven over six innings.
Peralta gave up both of his runs in the second inning, including a solo homer by Dillon Dingler, but quickly settled in afterward and dominated the rest of the outing. The right-hander closed by retiring 12 of the final 13 batters he faced. Peralta continues to provide steady length, now going at least five innings in eight of his nine starts this season. After going six consecutive starts without a win, he's now picked up victories in back-to-back outings. Peralta owns a 3.10 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 50:19 K:BB across 49.1 innings and is scheduled for a difficult matchup against the Yankees next time out.

Michael Lorenzen COL SP
Rockies' Michael Lorenzen: Saddled with fifth loss Tuesday
28m agoLorenzen (2-5) took the loss Tuesday against the Pirates, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts across five innings.
Lorenzen mixes seven pitches and relies heavily on keeping hitters guessing, as he possesses below-average stuff. His five strikeouts Tuesday matched a season-high for the right-hander, and it was a decent bounce-back performance after Lorenzen was shelled for 11 runs on 15 hits and six walks across 10.1 innings over his previous two outings. Lorenzen now owns a 6.55 ERA and 31:14 K:BB across 44 innings on the season.

37m agoFlaherty (0-4) took the loss Tuesday against the Mets, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two over 3.2 innings.
Flaherty labored throughout the outing, needing 97 pitches to record just 11 outs, including 53 pitches over the first two innings alone. The veteran right-hander has struggled badly to work deep into games lately, failing to complete four innings in four of his last five starts. During that stretch, he has surrendered 15 earned runs across 17.2 innings while battling inconsistent command. Flaherty now owns a 5.73 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 44:29 K:BB across 37.2 innings and will seek to record his first win in his next scheduled start, against Toronto.

Gregory Soto PIT RP
Pirates' Gregory Soto: Picks up fourth save
1h agoSoto earned the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Rockies, allowing one run on two hits in the ninth inning.
After Paul Skenes breezed through eight shutout innings, allowing just two hits with 10 strikeouts, Soto came on and recorded two quick outs before surrendering back-to-back doubles before getting T.J. Rumfield to ground out to preserve Skenes' win and earn Soto his fourth save. It was Soto's third save in his last four outings, as it appears he's again passed Dennis Santana in the pecking order for saves in Pittsburgh. Soto owns a 1.69 ERA and 26:7 K:BB across 21.1 innings this season.

Raisel Iglesias ATL RP
Braves' Raisel Iglesias: Grabs seventh save Tuesday
1h agoIglesias earned the save Tuesday against the Cubs, striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.
Iglesias entered the ninth inning with a three-run lead and made quick work of Chicago's lineup, striking out Ian Happ before retiring the next two hitters to lock down his seventh save in as many opportunities. The veteran right-hander has been dominant to begin the season, holding opponents scoreless across 11.2 innings while piling up 15 strikeouts against just one walk. As long as Atlanta can keep up its offensive surge, Iglesias should continue to thrive in the closer role .

Grant Holmes ATL RP
Braves' Grant Holmes: Limits Cubs in no-decision
1h agoHolmes did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing two runs on one hit and four walks while striking out five over four innings.
Holmes looked strong through three innings, allowing only one baserunner, before faltering in the fourth. The only hit he allowed all day came in the inning, a solo homer by Alex Bregman, and he immediately unraveled afterward by issuing three straight walks to load the bases before allowing an RBI groundout. The right-hander has had trouble working deep into games lately, failing to complete six innings in four of his last five starts, while also surrendering five home runs during that stretch. Holmes now owns a 4.35 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 34:21 K:BB across 41.1 innings and is scheduled to face Boston next.

Will Vest DET RP
Tigers' Will Vest: Throwing off mound
4h agoVest (forearm) threw a bullpen session Monday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
It was the first time Vest had thrown off a mound since landing on the injured list May 2 with forearm inflammation. He'll be eligible to return from the IL on Thursday, though he's likely to throw a few additional bullpen and live batting practice sessions before being activated.

Cole Ragans KC RP
Royals' Cole Ragans: Playing catch, still day-to-day
5h agoRoyals manager Matt Quatraro said Tuesday that Ragans (elbow) played catch two of the past three days and remains day-to-day, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Quatraro added that Tuesday's throwing session was better than Sunday's, and the expectation is Ragans will play catch again Wednesday, as he deals with a case of pitcher's elbow. Stephen Kolek is starting in Ragans' place Tuesday night and will fill his rotation spot while Ragans heals up on the 15-day injured list. It doesn't sound like Kansas City expects this to be a lengthy absence for its ace.

Shohei Ohtani LAD DH
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Day off from hitting on tap
14h agoManager Dave Roberts said after Monday's 9-3 loss that Ohtani will be held out of the lineup for one of the final two games of the Dodgers' four-game series versus the Giants, Maddie Lee of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Ohtani went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts Monday, extending a rough stretch at the plate to begin the month. Through his nine games as a hitter so far in May, Ohtani has gone just 4-for-36 with a 4:10 BB:K, bringing his OPS down to .767 for the season. Ohtani has made up for his uncharacteristically lagging bat by looking as dominant as ever on the mound; he'll take a 0.97 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 22.8 K-BB% into his next start Wednesday. The Dodgers could look to give him a break from hitting that day -- something they've already done for three of his first six starts as a pitcher -- or wait until Thursday's series finale to rest him in what would be his first proper off day of the season.

Heston Kjerstad BAL DH
Orioles' Heston Kjerstad: Moved to 60-day IL
1d agoThe Orioles transferred Kjerstad (hamstring) to the 60-day injured list Monday.
Kjerstad was cleared to embark on a rehab assignment with Double-A Chesapeake on Saturday. His move to the 60-day IL means that he won't be available to make his 2026 season debut until late May, but Kjerstad's rehab stint will likely be lengthy given that he's recovering from a strained right hamstring that he suffered during spring training.

Giancarlo Stanton NYY DH
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Could ramp up running this week
1d agoYankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that Stanton will undergo tests on his injured right calf in hopes of being cleared to ramp up his running this week, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Boone added that Stanton has already done some running indoors, and he could be given the green light to step up his rehab if the club is satisfied with how his right calf strain has healed. There's no word yet on a potential rehab assignment or return date for Stanton. With Jasson Dominguez (shoulder) also out, Spencer Jones has been getting an opportunity lately for the Yanks.

Giancarlo Stanton NYY DH
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Still not running
2d agoStanton (calf) has yet to resume running, but he's been doing some hitting, per MLB.com.
Stanton has been on the injured list since late April due to a right calf strain. The slugger doesn't seem to be close to a return given his continued inability to run, and the Yankees haven't provided a timeline for his recovery. Jasson Dominguez (shoulder) was originally the recipient of a big-league opportunity in Stanton's absence, but he's now on the IL, so Spencer Jones has since been called up for his first major-league stint.

Bryce Harper PHI DH
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Good to go Sunday
3d agoHarper (migraine) will start at first base and bat third in Sunday's game against the Rockies, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Harper developed a migraine early in Saturday's 9-3 win, prompting the Phillies to pull him from the contest before he made a plate appearance. The 33-year-old appears to have recovered overnight and has been given the green light to play in the series finale.

Byron Buxton MIN DH
Twins' Byron Buxton: Continues to roll in win
3d agoBuxton went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Saturday's 2-1 extra-innings win over the Guardians.
The center fielder's incredible power surge continued, and he even accounted for Minnesota's entire output in both hits and runs Saturday. Buxton opened the game with a first-inning homer and then delivered an RBI double in the 11th inning. Over his last 23 games (103 at-bats), he is batting .301 with 13 homers, four doubles, 20 RBI and 20 runs scored. He's also hit safely in 19 contests during that stretch.
