Tyler Glasnow LAD SP
Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Slated to make another rehab start Wednesday
1h agoGlasnow (back) is scheduled to make another minor-league rehab start Wednesday, and he could then rejoin the Dodgers' rotation during a road trip that begins Aug. 25 and ends Aug. 30, MLB.com reports.
Glasnow tossed 67 pitches in his most recent rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Aug. 14, and he dominated with 3.2 hitless frames while striking out eight batters. The star right-hander is expected to toss five innings or approximately 75 pitches in his upcoming rehab appearance Wednesday, which is likely to be his last before being activated from the 60-day IL, assuming he doesn't have any setbacks. That puts Glasnow on track to return to the big-league club as soon as Aug. 25, when Los Angeles kicks off a three-game series in Atlanta.

Blake Treinen LAD RP
Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Begins rehab stint
2h agoTreinen (elbow) kicked off a minor-league rehab assignment with Single-A Ontario on Saturday, MLB.com reports. He tossed a scoreless and hitless inning while striking out two batters.
Treinen's appearance with the Single-A club was his first game action since he tossed a clean frame for the Dodgers against Baltimore on June 19. The veteran reliever landed on the injured list shortly thereafter due to a right elbow inflammation, and while he's been throwing since early July, he's taken a slow road back to the big-league squad. Trienen may need several more rehab outings before he's cleared to return, but he could be activated from the IL in late August or early September.

Andy Pages LAD CF
Dodgers' Andy Pages: Productive in Monday's win
2h agoPages went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Monday's 11-5 win over Colorado.
Pages got in on the offensive explosion, logging three-plus hits for the 12th time this season. Since the calendar flipped to August, the center fielder has slashed .306/.368/.500 with three homers, nine RBI, seven runs and two stolen bases across 16 contests. Overall, he's hitting .274/.340/.465 with 21 homers, 80 RBI, 71 runs and 12 stolen bases in 125 games.

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Crushes 25th homer
2h agoMuncy went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Monday's 11-5 win over the Rockies.
Muncy demolished a center-cut sinker from Tomoyuki Sugano, sending it 461 feet for a three-run homer in the third inning. The third baseman has homered four times in August, slashing .250/.321/.542 across 15 games this month. In total, Muncy is hitting .252/.345/.501 with 25 homers, 63 RBI, 66 runs and two stolen bases in 116 contests.

Shohei Ohtani LAD DH
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Homers twice in Monday's win
2h agoOhtani went 4-for-5 with two homers, three total RBI and four total runs scored in Monday's 11-5 win over the Rockies.
Ohtani blasted off twice, crushing a solo homer off Tomoyuki Sugano in the fifth inning before taking Juan Mejia deep for a two-run shot in the sixth frame. It was a big offensive performance for the two-way star, who's slashing .317/.377/.619 with five homers, 11 RBI, 11 runs and a stolen base through 16 games in August. Overall, Ohtani is hitting .295/.392/.556 with 29 homers, 78 RBI, 81 runs and seven stolen bases across 120 contests.

Nick Pivetta SD RP
Padres' Nick Pivetta: Throwing program moved to complex in Arizona
2h agoPivetta (forearm) has continued to play catch and build up, but his throwing program has been moved to the Padres' complex in Peoria, Arizona, MLB.com reports.
Pivetta hasn't pitched for the Padres since April 12, but it looked like he was on the way back when he was penciled in for a minor-league rehab start Aug. 4. However, the veteran hurler ended up throwing just 14 pitches for Single-A Lake Elsinore in that outing and hasn't made another game appearance since. While it's at least promising that Pivetta hasn't been shut down from throwing, the move to the team's training complex may indicate that the right-hander isn't going to resume a rehab assignment in the near future. As such, it remains up in the air whether he'll be able to pitch again for the big-league club before the end of the regular season.

Brian Navarreto MIA C
Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Clubs homer in loss Monday
2h agoNavarreto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Phillies on Monday.
Navarreto started behind the plate for the second straight day in the wake of No. 1 option Joe Mack dealing with a shoulder injury. Navarreto took advantage of the opportunity, notching two hits, including an eighth-inning solo homer that brought his team to within a run. It was the first long ball this season for the 31-year-old backstop and the second of his MLB career in his 23rd contest. Navarreto is still slashing a paltry .148/.233/.296 across 32 plate appearances this season and doesn't figure to see many starts when Mack is healthy.

Will Smith LAD C
Dodgers' Will Smith: Tracking toward rehab games next week
9h agoDodgers manager Dave Roberts said Monday that Smith (neck) will begin a rehab assignment next week if the catcher's workouts go well this week, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Smith has turned a corner in his recovery from a neck injury and is nearly ready to test things out in a game setting. Considering he last played in a game June 5, the catcher will likely need several rehab games before rejoining the Dodgers' active roster. Smith collected a .720 OPS with six home runs in 52 contests before getting hurt.

Kyle Teel CHW C
White Sox's Kyle Teel: Scheduled for batting practice
9h agoTeel (ankle) will participate in batting practice Monday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Teel continues to make progress in his recovery from a left high-ankle sprain that he sustained shortly after the All-Star break. The next step in his program is to embark on a rehab assignment, at which point the White Sox will have a better idea of when Teel could return to the majors, which could be as soon as early September.

Hunter Goodman COL C
Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Scratched from lineup
10h agoGoodman was scratched from Monday's lineup versus the Dodgers due to left shoulder inflammation, Kelsey Wingert-Linch of AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports.
Goodman had been slated to return from a three-game absence, but instead the Rockies have decided to hold him out for a fourth consecutive contest. There's no indication that he's suffered a setback, so consider Goodman day-to-day. Brett Sullivan will do the catching for Colorado on Monday.
-
Tyler Stephenson CIN C
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Taking seat for second game
10h agoStephenson is absent from the lineup for the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Stephenson started at catcher in the first game of the twin bill, going 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts. The Reds will turn to Jose Trevino behind the dish for the nightcap.

Endy Rodriguez PIT C
Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Seeking second opinion on hip injury
10h agoPirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Monday that Rodriguez is gathering a second opinion on his left hip injury, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Pittsburgh listed Rodriguez's injury as left hip inflammation when he was placed on the shelf Thursday, but the organization may be concerned that the 26-year-old catcher might be dealing with something more significant. While Tomczyk relayed that the Pirates are expected to have more information on Rodriguez's condition later this week, it's reasonable to expect Rodriguez to spend more than the minimum 10 days on the injured list. Henry Davis and Rafael Flores will continue to share playing time behind the dish while Rodriguez is on the mend.

Willson Contreras BOS 1B
Red Sox's Willson Contreras: Belts 25th homer in blowout win
5h agoContreras went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored during the Red Sox's 11-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Monday.
All nine Red Sox starters drove in at least one run during Monday's rout, with Contreras contributing with a solo homer over the Green Monster in the fifth inning. The veteran first baseman has been in a bit of a slump at the plate since August, but his long ball against Arizona was his 25th of the season, surpassing his previous career high that he set in 2019 with the Cubs. For the year, Contreras has a .924 OPS (fourth-best in the majors) with 73 RBI and three steals across 469 plate appearances.
-
Jose Fernandez ARI 1B
Diamondbacks' Jose Fernandez: Promoted to big leagues
8h agoFernandez was recalled from Triple-A Reno ahead of Monday's game against the Red Sox.
Fernandez will take the roster spot of Ketel Marte, who was placed on the restricted list prior to first pitch. Fernandez is penciled into the starting nine at the hot corner and will bat seventh against Boston on Monday, though he's also seen playing time at first base (17 games), shortstop (five games) and as the designated hitter (19 games) so far this season with Arizona.
-
Kyle Stowers MIA 1B
Marlins' Kyle Stowers: In midst of running progression
10h agoStowers (hamstring) is in the middle of a return-to-play running progression, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports.
Stowers suffered a left hamstring strain just over a week ago, so it's a good sign that he's already running again to test out his injured leg. He will be eligible for activation Friday, and while it seems unlikely Stowers will be ready to go on that day, he shouldn't have any trouble being reinstated from the 10-day injured list before the end of August.
-
Tyler Locklear ARI 1B
Diamondbacks' Tyler Locklear: Bound for Triple-A
10h agoThe Diamondbacks optioned Locklear to Triple-A Reno on Monday.
Locklear ended up being a casualty of the 26-man active roster after the Diamondbacks needed to clear a spot for outfielder Jordan Lawlar's (hamstring) return from the 10-day injured list. After being recalled from Reno on July 17, Locklear served mainly as a short-side platoon player during his time with Arizona, batting .278/.357/.444 with one home run, one stolen base, six RBI and eight runs in 15 games. He'll get the chance to play on a more regular basis at Triple-A.
-
Spencer Torkelson DET 1B
Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Idle for series opener in Pittsburgh
10h agoTorkelson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.
After putting together an eight-game hitting streak from Aug. 6 through Friday while getting on base at a .529 clip during that stretch, Torkelson closed out the Tigers' weekend series versus the White Sox with a whimper, going 0-for-7 with a walk in the final two contests. The Tigers will give Torkelson a night off to regroup, with Colt Keith spelling him at first base Monday.
-
Ryan O'Hearn PIT 1B
Pirates' Ryan O'Hearn: Resumes light baseball activities
11h agoPirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Monday that O'Hearn (quadriceps) has been cleared to play catch and take some swings in the batting cage, Jason Mackey of MLB.com reports.
O'Hearn is almost three weeks removed from landing on the 10-day injured list due to a left quad strain, and he's made enough progress in his recovery to begin incorporating some light baseball activities into his training regimen. He'll report to the Pirates' spring training complex in Florida later this week to continue ramping up his rehab. O'Hearn was given a 6-to-8 week timeline when he hit the shelf, and he would seem to have a good shot and returning on the shorter end of that timetable.
-
Nico Hoerner CHC 2B
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Logs four hits in win
2h agoHoerner went 4-for-5 with two RBI in Monday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the White Sox.
Hoerner came through in the clutch, delivering a game-tying RBI single in the ninth frame to send the contest to an extra inning. The second baseman has totaled four hits in a game three times since the All-Star break, slashing .371/.393/.491 with three homers, 20 RBI, 15 runs and six stolen bases over the past 29 tilts. Overall, Hoerner is hitting .265/.325/.365 with seven homers, 58 RBI, 52 runs and 20 stolen bases across 123 games.
-
Zach McKinstry DET 2B
Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Tallies three hits in win
4h agoMcKinstry went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 8-5 win over the Pirates.
McKinstry matched his season high with the three hits, and both of those performances have come this month. After a rough start to the year, the utility player has found his groove in August with a .326/.442/.419 slash line across 15 games. McKinstry's defensive versatility should keep him in the lineup most days, and he's starting to deliver some production for fantasy managers.
-
Hao Yu Lee DET 2B
Tigers' Hao-Yu Lee: Reaches five times in win
4h agoLee went 3-for-3 with two walks, two RBI and a run scored in Monday's 8-5 win over the Pirates.
Lee set a new season high with three hits and also set a season high by reaching base five times. The rookie infielder hasn't quite found an everyday role with the Tigers, but he's performed well when given an opportunity with a .275 batting average and .737 OPS. If Detroit falls out of playoff contention down the stretch, Lee could see his role grow if the team prioritizes its younger players.
-
Nick Sogard BOS 2B
Red Sox's Nick Sogard: Cracks two doubles Monday
5h agoSogard went 2-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored during the Red Sox's 11-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Sogard helped the Red Sox jump out to an early lead with an RBI double in the second inning before coming home to score in the fourth on a double from Ceddanne Rafaela. It's the second time this season that Sogard has cracked two doubles in a game, and he's settled into an everyday role at second base with trade deadline acquisition Curtis Mead (wrist) on the injured list. Sogard is slashing .248/.355/.333 with six RBI and eight extra-base hits across 126 plate appearances this season.

Ketel Marte ARI 2B
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Tending to personal matter
6h agoMarte, who was placed on the restricted list Monday, didn't report to the ballpark due to a personal matter and is being considered day-to-day, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
This remains a murky situation, and the team has yet to comment on when Marte could return to the team, and whether he'll face any kind of discipline upon his return. Ildemaro Vargas would be in line for more action at second base if Marte misses additional time.
-
Ketel Marte ARI 2B
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Placed on restricted list
8h agoThe Diamondbacks placed Marte on the restricted list Monday.
There's no word yet on the reasoning behind the transaction, nor is it clear how long Marte might be away from the team. The Diamondbacks should offer more information later Monday. Ildemaro Vargas is getting a start at second base Monday in Boston in Marte's stead.

Max Muncy LAD 3B
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Crushes 25th homer

The third baseman has homered four times in August, slashing .250/.321/.542 across 15 games this month. In total, Muncy is hitting .252/.345/.501 with 25 homers, 63 RBI, 66 runs and two stolen bases in 116 contests.

Nick Yorke PIT 3B
Pirates' Nick Yorke: Providing offensive spark
3h agoYorke went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored Monday against the Tigers.
Yorke was recalled from the minors Sunday and has made consecutive starts at third base since. He's taken advantage of that opportunity, going 4-for-8 with six RBI in the two contests. Nevertheless, Yorke is likely to settle into a utility role now that Oneil Cruz has been activated from the injured list.

Caleb Durbin BOS 3B
Red Sox's Caleb Durbin: Logs three hits Monday
5h agoDurbin went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, two runs scored and a steal during the Red Sox's 11-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Monday marked the seventh time this season (and fifth time since the All-Star break) that Durbin recorded at least three hits in a game. The 26-year-old third baseman has been on a tear at the plate since the break, slashing .330/.411/.446 with five steals, three home runs, 22 RBI and a 12:17 BB:K over 131 plate appearances.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand BAL 3B
Orioles' Christian Encarnacion-Strand: Homers in four-RBI showing
6h agoEncarnacion-Strand went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Monday's 7-6 loss to the Rays.
Encarnacion-Strand continues to push for more playing time for the Orioles. Over his first 88 plate appearances, the infielder is slashing .272/.310/.543 with six homers, four doubles, 22 RBI and one stolen base. Blaze Alexander (hand) could serve as Baltimore's everyday third baseman when he comes off the injured list, but Encarnacion-Strand should continue to see steady action in the interim if he keeps swinging a hot bat.
-
Nolan Arenado ARI 3B
Diamondbacks' Nolan Arenado: Not in Monday's lineup
8h agoArenado (chest) is not in the Diamondbacks' starting lineup against the Red Sox on Monday.
Manager Torey Lovullo said that an MRI showed a "small signal" in Arenado's left intercostal, per Jody Jackson of DBacks.tv. However, Arenado will be available off the bench Monday, and the expecation is that he will avoid the injured list. Jose Fernandez -- who was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Monday after Ketel Marte (not injury related) was placed on the restricted list -- will start at third base and bat seventh.
-
Nick Loftin KC 3B
Royals' Nick Loftin: Likely headed for drop in playing time
9h agoLoftin is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Athletics.
Loftin will head to the bench after he started each of the last nine games while going just 4-for-31 (.129 average) with one stolen base, two runs and no RBI. With Maikel Garcia (hand) returning from the injured list Monday, Loftin's time as the Royals' primary third baseman is over, and he'll presumably be ticketed for a utility role.
-
Kevin McGonigle DET SS
Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Tees off in win
4h agoMcGonigle went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 8-5 win over the Pirates.
McGonigle snapped a mini 0-for-7 slump over his last two games with a solid performance that included his 13th home run of the season. Three of those long balls have come in 14 contests this month, and the youngster has been showing more power overall as the year has gone along, as he had just three homers through the end of May. McGonigle has had a great debut campaign so far and seems well on his way to winning the AL Rookie of the Year award.

Royals' Bobby Witt: Fills up box score in win
4h agoWitt went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, a walk, a stolen base and three additional runs scored in Monday's 9-5 win over the Athletics.
The Athletics couldn't contain Witt, who crossed the plate a season-high four times Monday. Even with the Royals playing out the final stretch of a losing season, the superstar shortstop is looking to close out the campaign on a high note. Since coming off the injured list, Witt is batting .340 with two homers, four doubles, seven RBI and three stolen bases over his last 50 at-bats.

Jacob Wilson ATH SS
Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Scratched with shoulder soreness
9h agoWilson was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Royals due to shoulder soreness.
Wilson was cleared to return Sunday from a one-game absence due to swelling in his left pinkie finger. The 24-year-old is now working through a shoulder issue, prompting the Athletics to replace Wilson with Alika Williams at shortstop while moving Henry Bolte to the second spot in the lineup.

Termarr Johnson PIT SS
Pirates' Termarr Johnson: Slated for knee surgery Thursday
10h agoPirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said that Johnson will undergo left knee surgery Thursday, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
According to Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com, Johnson will require an ACL reconstruction plus an LCL procedure on the knee, which he injured during an Aug. 8 game with Triple-A Indianapolis. Tomczyk said that a timeline for Johnson's return will be established once surgery is completed, but given that the operation will address damage to multiple ligaments, the 22-year-old will likely remain out well into the 2027 season. Johnson hit .198/.332/.319 with eight home runs and 24 stolen bases over 95 games with Indianapolis before the knee injury ended his season.

Dansby Swanson CHC SS
Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Officially placed on 10-day IL
10h agoThe Cubs placed Swanson (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Monday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Swanson is facing a 4-to-6 week recovery timeline due to a Grade 2 left oblique strain that he suffered during the Cubs' 11-4 loss to the Cardinals. Per Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com, the Cubs are hoping that Swanson's timeline is closer to four weeks, which would put him on track to return by mid-September with a couple of weeks left before the playoff begins, if the Cubs qualify. The Cubs selected Owen Miller's contract from Triple-A Iowa to provide infield depth, but Nico Hoerner figures to be Chicago's everyday shortstop for as long as Swanson is on the shelf.

Trevor Story BOS SS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Could be activated Friday
11h agoStory (sports hernia) said that he could be reinstated from the 60-day injured list as soon as Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Story has been on the shelf since May 16 following sports hernia surgery, but he's finally nearing the finish line of what's been a lengthy recovery process. He kicked off a rehab assignment Sunday at Triple-A Worcester and went 1-for-2 at the dish while playing four innings at shortstop. Story is scheduled to play for Worcester on consecutive days Tuesday and Wednesday before rejoining the Red Sox for a re-evaluation. If the Red Sox medical staff is satisfied with Story's health, he could get the green light to return to action for the big club during their weekend series with the Giants. Once activated, Story will likely usurp Andruw Monasterio as the Red Sox's preferred option at shortstop.

White Sox's Randal Grichuk: Swats 10th homer
2h agoGrichuk went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Monday's 7-5 extra-inning loss to the Cubs.
Grichuk's lone hit was a long one, as he crushed a Shota Imanaga splitter over the center-field wall for a three-run homer in the fourth inning. He was subbed out for Andrew Benintendi in the eighth inning once a right-handed pitcher entered, as Grichuk has primarily been deployed against southpaws. On the year, the 35-year-old is slashing .277/.305/.548 with 10 homers, 31 RBI and 30 runs across 86 contests.

Cardinals' Jordan Walker: Racks up five hits during doubleheader
3h agoWalker went 5-for-9 with two doubles, two runs and a stolen base across both games of Monday's doubleheader split with the Reds.
Walker logged a pair of knocks in Game 1, then outdid himself with three hits in the nightcap. He's strung together three consecutive multi-hit performances, going 8-for-13 with four doubles and a homer during that stretch. Walker has been one of MLB's breakout stars this year, compiling a .289/.347/.500 slash line with 24 home runs, 88 RBI, 75 runs and 17 stolen bases through 122 games.
-
Dane Myers CIN CF
Reds' Dane Myers: Homers twice in twin bill
3h agoMyers went 3-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs across both games of Monday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Myers provided Cincinnati's only run in Game 1 with a fourth-inning solo homer. He began the nightcap on the bench but appeared as a pinch hitter with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Reds down by a run. Myers came through in a huge way, swatting his second solo long ball of the day to tie the score. The power outburst was pretty unexpected given that Myers hadn't homered in 51 games coming into Monday. In fact, entering the twin bill he was batting a meager .139 (5-for-36) through his first 11 contests in August. He's been in the starting lineup in six of the Reds' past nine games, so Meyers has mostly been allowed to work through his slump.

Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Walks off White Sox with 30th home run
4h agoCrow-Armstrong went 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs and three RBI in Monday's 7-5, 10-inning win over the White Sox. He also stole a base.
Crow-Armstrong put together an MVP performance to beat the rival White Sox on Monday at Wrigley Field. The star outfielder led off the bottom of the first inning with his 29th home run of the season, then walked it off in the 10th with his 30th homer to break a 5-5 tie. Crow-Armstrong also chipped in his 31st stolen base for good measure, and he now has consecutive 30-30 campaigns on his resume, making him the first Cubs' player to ever accomplish that feat. The 24-year-old has been one of the top performers in fantasy baseball all year long, and he's showing no signs of slowing down.

Red Sox's Ceddanne Rafaela: Cracks three doubles vs. Arizona

Rafaela set a career high with three doubles in Monday's blowout win, and it was high ninth three-hit game of the year. The 25-year-old center fielder has stepped up his production this year, which earned him a spot on the American League roster for the All-Star Game. Rafaela is slashing .288/.325/.470 with 16 steals (in 23 attempts), 16 home runs and 64 RBI over 503 plate appearances this season, and his 32 doubles are tied with Alec Burleson for most in the majors.

Rockies' Tomoyuki Sugano: Tagged for six runs in sixth loss
2h agoSugano (12-6) took the loss Monday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings against the Dodgers. He struck out three.
The right-hander struggled against the Dodgers offense, notably serving up homers to Max Muncy in the third inning and Shohei Ohtani in the fifth frame. Sugano had been strong in his previous five starts before Monday, posting a 4-1 record with a 3.38 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 18:3 K:BB across 29.1 innings. Overall, the 36-year-old owns a 4.70 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 69:27 K:BB across 118.2 innings (22 outings) and is tentatively scheduled to pitch Sunday against the Guardians.

Dodgers' Blake Snell: Picks up first win of 2026
2h agoSnell (1-1) earned the win Monday, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over six innings against the Rockies. He struck out five.
Snell was solid at Coors Field, working through traffic in the third inning and limiting the Rockies to one run across six frames to pick up his first win of the season. In two starts since returning from an almost three-month absence while recovering from a procedure to remove loose bodies from his left elbow, the southpaw has allowed two runs in 12 frames with a 15:4 K:BB. Both of the runs Junk allowed came in the third inning, when he walked two batters and yielded three hits. The left-hander was inefficient overall, needing 88 pitches to get through five frames, but he still managed to keep Miami in the contest against All-Star Phillies starter Cristopher Sanchez. Junk has given up two or fewer runs in each of his past five starts, posting a strong 2.28 ERA with a 15:6 K:BB over 23.2 innings during that stretch. He's lined up to make his next appearance at home against Washington.

3h agoCastillo did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk over 4.2 innings against the Cubs. He struck out one.
Castillo wasn't able to build on his dominant performance last time out, with the right-hander serving up two homers in the first inning and failing to complete five frames. In three starts since joining the White Sox, the 33-year-old has posted a 4.60 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB across 15.2 innings. In total, Castillo owns a 4-9 record with a 4.99 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 102:36 K:BB across 115.1 innings (23 outings) and is tentatively scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Mets.

Shota Imanaga CHC SP
Cubs' Shota Imanaga: Strikes out 10 in no-decision
3h agoImanaga did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing three runs on two hits, three walks and a hit-by-pitch over six innings against the White Sox. He struck out 10.
Imanaga logged a quality start, during which he racked up double-digit strikeouts for the third time this season. All of the damage came via a Randal Grichuk three-run homer in the fourth inning. In six outings since the All-Star break, Imanaga has posted a 2.55 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 35:5 K:BB across 35.1 innings.

Jordan Hicks CHW RP
White Sox's Jordan Hicks: Charged with blown save
2h agoHicks blew the save Monday against the Cubs. He allowed one run on a hit and three walks while striking out two over 1.1 innings.
The right-hander was able to get the last out in the eighth inning but faltered in the ninth, surrendering a one-out single to Nico Hoerner that tied the game at 5-5 before the Cubs walked it off in the 10th frame. Hicks has put together a fairly respectable campaign, posting a 3.32 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 45:25 K:BB across 38 innings, though he's converted just one of three save opportunities.

Jhoan Duran PHI RP
Phillies' Jhoan Duran: Survives for save Monday
3h agoDuran earned a save against the Marlins on Monday, allowing one run on two hits with no walks or strikeouts over one scoreless inning.
Duran had a two-run lead to work with when he entered in the ninth frame, which proved to be important when Miami put up a run on a pair of singles sandwiched around a groundout. However, the Marlins weren't able to complete the comeback, as Duran retired the final two batters he faced. It was the second straight day with a save for Duran, though both came with multiple allowed baserunners. In fact, the All-Star closer has allowed at least one baserunner in five straight appearances and in seven of nine outings so far in August, yet he's a perfect three-for-three in save chances while allowing just one run over nine innings during that span. Overall, Duran is an impressive 27-for-29 in save opportunities this season with a 1.83 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 62:8 K:BB across 44.1 frames spanning 47 appearances.

Yoendrys Gomez MIN RP
Twins' Yoendrys Gomez: Secures 18th save
3h agoGomez picked up the save Monday against Atlanta. He allowed no hits and a walk with no strikeouts over a scoreless inning.
Entering with a two-run cushion, Gomez surrendered a leadoff walk but was able to retire the next three batters to secure the victory. The right-hander has consistently delivered when called upon in the ninth inning, converting all 18 of his save opportunities, 17 of which have come with the Twins since being acquired from the Rays in early May. On the year, Gomez owns a 3.31 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 50:29 K:BB across 54.1 innings, including a 1.95 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 37:19 K:BB in 37 frames with Minnesota.

Bryan Hudson CHW RP
White Sox's Bryan Hudson: Slated to open Tuesday
4h agoHudson will serve as the opener for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Hudson is no stranger to the opener role, as this will mark his seventh start of the 2026 campaign. He'll presumably be tasked with handling the first inning before turning the ball over to a bulk reliever. Erick Fedde, who recently lost his rotation spot, is a candidate to work as the primary pitcher Tuesday considering he hasn't taken the mound since Thursday.

The veteran switch hitter has reached base safely in 20 straight contests, including seven multi-hit efforts over that stretch. Overall, Bell is slashing .256/.318/.424 with 16 homers, 74 RBI, 62 runs and a stolen base in 121 games.

Shohei Ohtani LAD DH
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Tossing side session Tuesday
3h agoOhtani is scheduled to throw another bullpen session Tuesday, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.
Ohtani stated Monday that his knee felt healthy following Friday's bullpen session, and he's optimistic that the injury is a thing of the past. Assuming all goes according to plan Tuesday, the 32-year-old will continue to ramp back up as a pitcher with the hope of returning to the mound down the stretch of the regular season and in the playoffs.

Mickey Gasper BOS DH
Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Smashes first homer of 2026
5h agoGasper went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI groundout during Bostons' 11-1 win over Arizona on Monday.
The Red Sox needed another bat in the lineup after Masataka Yoshida (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday and Jahmai Jones (undisclosed) was a late scratch from the lineup. Gasper got the call from Triple-A Worcester, and he contributed immediately with a solo long ball in the seventh inning, his first in the majors this season and third of his big-league career. He could see additional reps at DH if Jones' absence extends beyond Monday's series opener.

9h agoBenintendi is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.
Benintendi will head to the bench along with fellow left-handed hitters Colson Montgomery and Tristan Peters while southpaw Shota Imanaga takes the hill for the Cubs. Randal Grichuk will fill in for Benintendi at designated hitter and will bat cleanup.

Alcantara has spent most of the 2026 season in Triple-A, where he's slashing .271/.363/.542 with five steals, 19 home runs and 49 RBI over 303 plate appearances. He's appeared in 20 games for the Cubs in 2026 and belted his first major-league homer against the Dodgers on Aug. 3. Alcantara's addition to the Cubs' 26-man roster gives the team some depth in the outfield.
