  • Giants' Keaton Winn: Returns from IL

The Giants reinstated Winn (elbow) from the injured list Friday. Winn will return to the Giants' bullpen after spending nearly a month on the shelf due to a right elbow strain. During his rehab assignment, the 28-year-old fired three scoreless innings while striking out three batters and walking two across three appearances. Now healthy, he figures to reclaim a high-leverage role and could be in the mix for saves if Caleb Kilian continues to struggle.

  • Giants' Keaton Winn: Moves rehab to Triple-A

Winn (elbow) allowed a walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning during Triple-A Sacramento's 6-1 win over Salt Lake on Wednesday. After making rehab appearances in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and Single-A, Winn continued his rehab assignment in Sacramento, throwing seven of his 14 pitches for strikes Wednesday. According to Evan Webeck of the California Post, Giants manager Tony Vitello said he expects the right-hander to return either just before the All-Star break or immediately afterward.

He allowed a single and a walk to the first two batters he faced Sunday, though he managed to escape the inning without giving up a run and threw 11 of his 17 pitches for strikes. Per Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News, Giants manager Tony Vitello said Sunday that Winn is close to returning to the big leagues, leaving the door open for a potential return before the All-Star break.

Winn (elbow) struck out two in a scoreless inning during a rehab outing with the Giants' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate in its 9-5 win over the ACL Athletics on Friday. Winn was placed on the 15-day injured list June 14 with a right elbow strain and resumed throwing a little over a week later before returning to game action Friday. The right-hander started the contest and threw 10 of his 15 pitches for strikes. He's worked exclusively out of the bullpen for San Francisco this season, recording a 3.23 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB across 30.2 innings in 29 appearances.

  • Giants' Keaton Winn: Tosses bullpen session

Winn (elbow) completed a 25-pitch bullpen Monday, Evan Webeck of the California Post reports. Winn is currently on the 15-day injured list after suffering a right elbow strain earlier in the month. However, he was cleared to resume throwing one week ago, and he's since progressed to mound work. Webeck notes that Winn will remain in Arizona to continue his rehab, and if all goes well, he'll pitch in an Arizona Complex League game at the end of the week.

  • Giants' Keaton Winn: Resumes throwing

Winn (elbow) began a throwing program Monday, Evan Webeck of the California Post reports. Monday marked Winn's first time doing any sort of throwing since he landed on the injured list June 14 with a strained right elbow. He'll presumably have to get through several bullpen sessions and rounds of live BP before the Giants begin to think about activating him, but he doesn't appear to be in line for an extended stay on the IL.

The right-hander hasn't allowed an earned run in any of his last eight appearances, giving up six hits and two walks while striking out nine in nine innings during that span. He now owns a 1.85 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB across 24.1 innings in 24 outings this season.

The 28-year-old has allowed just one run on two hits and two walks while striking out seven across four innings in four outings this season. • Giants' Keaton Winn: Returns to majors

The Giants recalled Winn from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports. With Ryan Walker set to miss the Giants' next few games while on paternity leave, Winn will return to San Francisco to replenish the big club's bullpen depth. Winn has struggled in Triple-A this year, turning in a 9.31 ERA and 1.88 WHIP through 19.1 innings, so he'll likely be reserved for low-leverage situations while with the Giants.

After falling short in his bid for a spot in the Giants' Opening Day rotation, Winn was optioned to Sacramento, with whom he posted a 5.91 ERA over three starts before being shut down. He's now missed nearly six weeks with the injury and has yet to begin a rehab assignment.

Winn threw two scoreless innings with four strikeouts and two hits, picking up the win during Saturday's 7-3 win over the Royals in Cactus League play. Winn has made two appearances (one start) this spring, covering three scoreless innings while collecting five strikeouts. The 26-year-old made 12 starts last season before undergoing season-ending ulnar transposition surgery in late July. • Giants' Keaton Winn: Looks sharp in spring debut

Winn threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout and a walk in his spring debut in Sunday's win over the Angels. Winn began last season in the starting rotation but managed only 12 starts before undergoing season-ending ulnar transposition surgery in late July. It looks like he's back to full speed, but his role for 2025 isn't clear. He'll compete for a rotation spot but appears to be a long shot, so he could begin the season in the bullpen or the minors.

Winn began last season in the starting rotation but managed only 12 starts before being diagnosed with a nerve issue in his elbow. He underwent season-ending ulnar transposition surgery in late July. His role for 2025 isn't clear as he'll likely be competing for a rotation spot but could be moved to long relief. He could also begin the season in the minors in order to re-establish himself as a starter.

He began his rehab program by throwing bullpen sessions in early July, but he was shut down from throwing Monday after experiencing additional discomfort and has now been recommended for surgery. Winn will shift his focus to getting healthy for spring training, but he'll finish the 2024 campaign with a 3-8 record, 7.16 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 48:20 K:BB across 55.1 innings.

Winn (elbow) has been shut down from throwing after experiencing discomfort in his elbow over the weekend, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Winn has been out since June 22 with a nerve issue in his right elbow and he appears to have suffered a setback in his recovery. The timeline for the right-hander's return is unclear at this point and with just over two months remaining in the season, it's possible that the Giants could opt to shut him down completely if his issues persist.
