Crawford exited Saturday's game against the Rays due to back spasms, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.

Crawford exited the game in the fifth inning after diving into first base to beat a throw to the bag. He went 0-for-2 with a strikeout prior to his exit and should be considered day-to-day. Dylan Moore entered the game at shortstop in Crawford's place.

Berti landed on the injured list for undisclosed reasons Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

The Marlins didn't specify the reason for Berti's absence, nor did they specify which injured list he'd been placed on, which fits the pattern teams have used when a player lands on the COVID-19 injured list. Joe Dunand's contract was called up in a corresponding move to take Berti's spot as a utility infielder.

Wendle will sit Saturday against San Diego, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Wendle hasn't made a single start against a southpaw this season, a trend that continues Saturday against Sean Manaea. Joe Dunand will make his major-league debut at third base.

Crawford will hit the bench against lefty Steven Matz and the Cardinals on Saturday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Crawford is nowhere near a platoon risk, as Saturday's game marks just his second time out of the lineup all season, though his rare days off will likely continue to come against southpaws. Mauricio Dubon will be the shortstop in his absence.

Crawford went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Cardinals.

Crawford has hit safely in six of his last eight games, though Friday was his first multi-hit effort in that span. He's 7-for-27 (.259) with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored during that stretch. He started the season cold, but the recent uptick in success has lifted his slash line to .236/.333/.360 in 102 plate appearances.

Story batted second and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 4-2 loss to the White Sox.

Story, who had been leading off, was dropped to the two hole following a four-strikeout effort Thursday. That happened as it looked like Story was climbing out of an early-season slump. The second baseman is slashing .212/.292/.294 through 22 games (96 plate appearances).

Ahmed went 0-for-3 in Friday's 4-1 win over the Rockies.

Ahmed initially tore it up after being activated off the injury list, going 8-for-23 (.348) with three home runs, but he's now hitless over 13 consecutive at-bats and hitting .235. He remains the team's primary shortstop, but there will be a rotation of sorts among four players in the infield. Josh Rojas and Geraldo Perdomo can play three positions, while Ahmed and second baseman Ketel Marte will get occasional days off to maintain health.

Perdomo remains on the Diamondbacks' roster following the activation of Josh Rojas from the injured list, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Rojas made his season debut Friday, getting the nod at third base, but manager Torey Lovullo indicated Rojas would see time at shortstop and second base to give Nick Ahmed and Ketel Marte breaks during the week. That rotation, along with off days for Rojas, opens up regular at-bats for Perdomo, who is slashing .290/.353/.419 over the last 10 games following a slow start. A shortstop by trade, Perdomo has also made appearances at second and third base already in 2022.

Correa (finger) isn't starting Saturday against the Athletics.

Correa's recent CT scan didn't reveal a fracture, so the 27-year-old is considered day-to-day as he deals with a bruise and soreness. He'll remain out of the lineup for a second straight game while Royce Lewis starts at shortstop and bats ninth.

Swanson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Brewers.

The shortstop took Jandel Gustave deep in the eighth inning, but all Swanson really accomplished was creating a save situation for Josh Hader. Swanson continues to put his slow start to the season behind him, and over the last 16 games he's slashing .314/.379/.529 with two homers, two steals, eight RBI and nine runs.
