  • Angels' Vaughn Grissom: Sitting Saturday

Grissom isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals, Erica Weston of Angels Broadcast Television reports. Grissom will catch a breather Saturday after going 4-for-20 with an RBI, two runs and a steal across the Angels' last five games. Adam Frazier will man the keystone and bat eighth while Grissom rests.

  • Angels' Vaughn Grissom: Records first steal of season

Grissom went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's 7-0 win over the Rangers. Grissom has gone 14-for-58 (.241) over his last 15 games, adding four extra-base hits and six RBI with a 1:15 BB:K in that span. The infielder's been seeing more time at third base lately to cover for a slumping Denzer Guzman, though Guzman had a three-hit effort while playing shortstop Thursday. Grissom would likely be in more of a utility role if the Angels were getting quality at-bats from around the infield, but he's managed to carve out pretty steady playing time for himself. Grissom is hitting .249 with a .692 OPS, seven home runs, 47 RBI, 31 runs scored, 16 doubles and a steal over 80 contests this season.

He added another single in the fifth inning, marking the infielder's fourth game with at least three hits this season. The 25-year-old has heated up with an .878 OPS in July, bringing his season slash line to .259/.325/.411 with seven homers, 43 RBI and 26 runs scored across 66 contests.

  • Angels' Vaughn Grissom: Sitting in series finale

Grissom is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins. Though he'll be giving way to Oswald Peraza at second base in the series finale, Grissom may have inched ahead of him on the depth chart after a strong finish to the Angels' first-half schedule. Grissom had started the previous four games, going 7-for-17 with a home run, a double, a walk, six RBI and three runs during that span. The 25-year-old now maintains a .708 OPS on the season, placing him slightly ahead of Peraza's .663 mark.

  • Angels' Vaughn Grissom: Swinging bat again

Grissom (oblique) has been taking light swings and participating in light baseball activities, per MLB.com. Grissom hasn't played since June 5, and he landed on the IL with a left oblique strain June 8. Given the nature of his injury, it's a promising sign that he's now able to swing a bat, albeit not at full capacity. It's not yet clear how long Grissom will be sidelined, though it seems likely that he'll need more than a minimum stay on the injured list.

  • Angels' Vaughn Grissom: Sent to IL with oblique strain

The Angels placed Grissom on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left oblique strain. Grissom's oblique issue had kept him out of action for the past three games, and he was unable to make enough improvement with the injury to avoid an IL stint. The Angels have not offered a timetable for Grissom's return, but oblique injuries typically result in multi-week absences.

It was Grissom's second homer of the season, and while he's also seen occasional action at first base and third base, he's emerged as the primary second baseman for the Halos since joining the big-league roster a month ago. • Angels' Vaughn Grissom: Swats first homer of 2026

Grissom went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the White Sox. The 25-year-old infielder got his first start of the season against a right-handed pitcher, getting the nod at first base in place of a resting Nolan Schanuel, and Grissom took advantage by driving an Erick Fedde sweeper over the left-field fence in the seventh inning. Grissom's slashing an impressive .342/.413/.526 through 13 games since coming off the IL with four doubles, one homer, five RBI and six runs. If he continues to show he can be more than a short-side platoon option, Grissom could begin to push Adam Frazier aside at second base and stake a claim to the starting job.
