  • Marlins' Otto Lopez: Two more XBH in Thursday's loss

Lopez went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and two runs scored in Thursday's loss to the Rockies.

The breakout shortstop wraps up an impressive trip to Coors Field having gone 6-for-14 over three games at altitude with four extra-base hits (two double, a triple and a homer). Lopez continues to lead the majors in batting average at .336, 10 points up on Luis Arraez and Yandy Diaz, and he's been even more productive since the beginning of June, delivering a .348/.383/.563 slash line with three home runs, six steals, 12 RBI and 23 RBI in 27 contests.

  • Marlins' Aiva Arquette: On shelf with thumb injury

Arquette was placed on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Pensacola on Tuesday due to a thumb injury, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The 22-year-old prospect hasn't played since June 26, and Arquette is expected to miss around six weeks with the injury. The seventh overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft had just begun to find his footing after a late May promotion from High-A, homering five times in his last 12 games for Pensacola while producing a .250/.291/.558 slash line with a 14.5 percent strikeout rate.

  • Marlins' Ryan Gusto: Goes three innings vs. Rockies

Gusto did not factor into the decision Thursday against Colorado, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two over three innings.

After he was handed a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Gusto gave up a solo home run to Mickey Moniak in the bottom half of the frame before the Rockies tacked on two more runs in the third. Gusto has seen a limited workload since joining the Marlins rotation -- he's yet to make it through five innings in six starts. Overall, the right-hander sports a 5.55 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP and 22:10 K:BB across 24.1 innings.

  • Marlins' Keyner Benitez: Done for season with arm injury

Single-A Jupiter placed Benitez on the injured list May 9, and the left-hander is expected to miss the rest of the season due to an arm injury, J.J. Cooper of Baseball America reports.

Benitez had gotten off to a stellar start this season for Jupiter, generating a 2.79 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB in 19.1 innings through five starts. During his final appearance May 7, Benitez was working on a no-hitter midway through the fourth inning before he was abruptly pulled from the start after getting checked out on the mound by a trainer, per FishOnFirst.com. Benitez didn't look to be in any major discomfort at the time he was removed from the game, but the Marlins determined days later that he would need to be shut down. Details regarding Benitez's injury remain scarce nearly two months later, but the fact that he's been shut down for the season could point to the 20-year-old lefty requiring elbow or shoulder surgery.

  • Marlins' Nate Payne: Having breakout campaign

Payne has posted a 3.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 95:22 K:BB over 68.2 innings this season between Single-A Jupiter and High-A Beloit.

An 18th-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of a Pennsylvania high school, Payne gave up an offer from George Mason to start his pro career early, per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, and the decision seems to be paying off. While the 20-year-old southpaw sits in the low 90s with his fastball, his velocity has crept up since he was drafted and the pitch comes with significant ride that allows him to work up in the zone. He then turns to a potentially plus curveball and slider for his whiffs. Payne likely still profiles as a back-of-the-rotation option in the majors at best unless he can add more juice to his fastball and improve his changeup, but his development so far has been impressive.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Two more hits in Wednesday's loss

Hicks went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.

Making his second straight start at first base since coming off the IL, Hicks has banged out two hits and scored a run in each game since recovering from a lower-back strain. The 27-year-old's breakout campaign doesn't appear to be slowing down -- over 19 contests since the beginning of June, Hicks has produced a .324/.405/.471 slash line with five extra-base hits, including two homers, eight RBI and 15 runs.

  • Marlins' Javier Sanoja: On base three times in shaky effort

Sanoja went 1-for-2 with two walks, a triple and two RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.

While his line in the box score looks good, it was a game Sanoja would probably rather forget. He was caught stealing after drawing a walk to lead off the second inning, then committed an error in the fifth that resulted in four unearned runs and Max Meyer's first loss of the season. Sanoja has started the last three games at three different positions (second base, shortstop and third base), and manager Clayton McCullough will likely continue to find ways to get the 23-year-old into the lineup on a regular basis given his .306/.329/.500 slash line since the beginning of June with eight extra-base hits including two homers, two steals, 11 runs and 14 RBI in 25 contests.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Homers off bench in loss

Mack went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Rockies.

Mack has gone 12-for-40 (.300) with five home runs over his last 14 contests. The 23-year-old has seen fairly steady playing time at catcher since his first big-league promotion in early May. He's done well to earn the time, batting .256 with a .742 OPS, six homers, 22 RBI, 22 runs scored and five doubles over 146 plate appearances.

  • Marlins' Max Meyer: Unlucky in first loss

Meyer (9-1) allowed five runs (one earned) on six hits and no walks while striking out five over six innings to take the loss versus the Rockies on Wednesday.

Meyer had a good start going, but an error in the fifth inning by Javier Sanoja ultimately led to a four-run rally for the Rockies. Meyer still looked good overall, throwing 56 of 78 pitches for strikes in his first start without issuing a walk all year. With only one of the runs on his ledger being earned, Meyer's ERA shrunk to 2.53 with a 1.11 WHIP and 112:36 K:BB across 103 innings over 18 starts. The 27-year-old's next outing is projected to come at home versus the Mariners.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Conine is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

With southpaw Kyle Freeland on the hill for Colorado, Conine will ride the pine for Wednesday's matchup despite putting together a four-hit performance Tuesday. Owen Caissie will serve as the designated hitter and bat eighth for the Marlins.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Idle Wednesday

Mack is out of the lineup for Wednesday's matchup against the Rockies.

Mack will sit out of Wednesday's game with Colorado trotting out left-hander Kyle Freeland. Brian Navarreto will take over behind the plate and bat eighth for Miami.

  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Continues to heat up

Caissie went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's rout of the Rockies.

The Marlins plated runs in seven of their nine innings en route to a 14-3 win at Coors Field, and Caissie got in on the offensive barrage in the eighth by crushing a John Brebbia fastball 453 feet into the second deck in right field. Caissie caught fire in the back half of June, and over his last 12 games he's produced a .394/.447/.818 slash line with two doubles, four homers, nine runs and 11 RBI while reducing his strikeout rate to a somewhat palatable 26.3 percent.

  • Marlins' Griffin Conine: Tallies four hits Tuesday

Conine went 4-for-5 with a double, a walk, a run and two RBI in a 14-3 romp over the Rockies on Tuesday.

Conine got the scoring started for Miami with a run-scoring double in the first inning. He went on to reach base four more times before the night was over, finishing with the first four-hit game of his career. Conine has reached base safely in five of his past six games, batting .400 (8-for-20) with a home run, two doubles, six RBI and a 4:6 BB:K over that stretch, and he's been getting steady playing time against right-handed pitching since coming off the IL on June 21, while bouncing between four different positions (DH, right field, left field and first base).

  • Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Raps four hits in rout

Edwards went 4-for-6 with a double, two runs and an RBI in a 14-3 win against Colorado on Tuesday.

Miami pounded out 21 total hits as a team, with Edwards and Griffin Conine pacing the squad with four knocks apiece. Edwards has put together a nine-game hitting streak during which he's slashing a scorching .444/.487/.556 with two doubles, a triple, five runs, four RBI and two stolen bases. The hot streak has pushed the speedy infielder's season batting average up to .304, eighth best in the majors.
