Strider (3-5) earned the win Tuesday against the Mets, giving up three runs on two hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out eight.

Strider struggled with his control on a sweltering night in New York, walking a season-high four, but he was still able to strike out at least eight in his third straight start. The hard-throwing right-hander produced a strong 15 whiffs, and he kept a dangerous Mets lineup in check with just two singles allowed. Strider is still searching for a groove in 2025 while coming off Tommy John surgery, and he'll aim to improve on his 4.07 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 53:17 K:BB over his first 42 frames at home versus the Phillies his next time out.

Burns took a no-decision Tuesday against the Yankees, giving up three runs on six hits and no walks in five innings. He struck out eight.

The rookie right-hander showed plenty of promise in his major-league debut, generating 12 whiffs and touching 100 mph with his fastball twice. Burns also notably became the second Reds pitcher since 1920 to strike out the side in the first inning of his MLB debut in the process, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com, but the Yankees were able to tag him for three runs in the fourth frame. His next turn in Cincinnati's rotation tentatively projects for next week in Boston, and Burns figures to stick around in the big leagues at least until Hunter Greene (groin/back) is ready to return.

Verlander (0-5) allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings to take the loss versus the Marlins on Tuesday.

Verlander was reinstated from the paternity list Monday after welcoming his second child into the world. He's now allowed seven runs (six earned) over 9.2 innings since returning from a pectoral injury that cost him a month. Verlander is at a 4.52 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 52:23 K:BB across 61.2 innings over 12 starts this season, and he's still searching for his first win as a Giant. The 42-year-old right-hander is projected to make his next start in another favorable matchup this weekend on the road versus the White Sox.

Quantrill allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Tuesday.

Quantrill ran into trouble in the fifth inning, and he ended up coming up an out short of the win. He was pulled with the tying run on base, and Anthony Bender got the final out as Rafael Devers was thrown out at the plate on a Heliot Ramos double. Quantrill is no stranger to short outings this season -- this was his seventh start of less than five innings, and he's yet to complete six frames in any of his 15 starts. He's pitched to a poor 5.56 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 51:21 K:BB across 68 innings. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at Arizona this weekend.

Williams (3-9) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over five-plus innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Padres.

The Nationals scored the first three runs of the game, but Williams couldn't fend off the Padres' comeback. He allowed two runs in the fourth inning and a game-tying solo shot to Martin Maldonado in the fifth before issuing two walks to begin the sixth. One of those runners came around to score, saddling Williams with his fourth loss in five starts in June, a month in which he has allowed 16 runs (15 earned) over 24.1 innings. That's in line with his 5.65 ERA for the year, which comes with a 1.47 WHIP and 61:20 K:BB through 79.2 innings across 16 starts. The right-hander is tentatively projected for a tough home start versus the Tigers early next week.

X-rays on Bergert's right forearm came back negative after he was struck by a comebacker in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Nationals, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Bergert surrendered three earned runs over three innings before making an early exit in the fourth inning after a 103-mile-per-hour line drive connected with his forearm. Although he managed to escape without suffering a serious injury, the right-hander said after the game that he was still quite sore, and there's no telling at this point if he'll be ready to make his next start. He's tentatively scheduled to take the hill Monday against Philadelphia.

The Mets are expected to select Pintaro's contract from Double-A Binghamton on Wednesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Pintaro owns a 3.40 ERA and 1.12 WHIP through 42.1 innings in Double-A. The 27-year-old right-hander has worked almost exclusively as a starter throughout his minor-league career, though he will likely be used out of the bullpen upon reporting to the Mets.

Heaney (3-7) allowed seven runs on seven hits and three walks over four-plus innings Tuesday, striking out three and taking a loss against Milwaukee.

Heaney delivered a pair of scoreless innings before his outing unraveled. He gave up three total home runs in the third and fourth frames, including two by Joey Ortiz. The Brewers tacked on another run in the fifth inning. Heaney has given up seven runs across four innings in back-to-back starts, driving his season ERA up from 3.33 to 4.48 through 86.1 innings. He hasn't won a start since May 21, going 0-4 with a 6.46 in six outings since then. Heaney is expected to face the Cardinals at home next week.

Peralta (8-4) yielded three runs on seven hits over five-plus innings Tuesday, striking out eight and earning a win over the Pirates.

Peralta rolled through five shutout frames before stumbling in the sixth inning. He gave up three straight hits without recording an out, capped off by Nick Gonzales' three-run shot, which ended his outing. Peralta has won three straight starts but has completed only five innings in each of his last two appearances. It was his first start without issuing a walk since April 2. The 29-year-old righty now owns a 2.90 ERA with a 98:34 K:BB through 93 frames. Peralta is lined up for a road matchup against the Mets next week.

With Ben Brown getting optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Horton figures to stick in the Cubs' rotation when Shota Imanaga (hamstring) returns later this week.

With Imanaga's return imminent, Chicago has to make room in the rotation, and for now it seems like Horton will keep his spot. The Cubs could have gone with a six-man rotation or moved Colin Rea into a long-relief role. However, with Brown getting tagged for eight runs in his start Monday, the team decided he's the one to go for now, with Horton and Rea sticking as starters along with Matthew Boyd and Jameson Taillon. Horton has pitched well during his rookie campaign, compiling a 3.73 ERA across his first eight MLB appearances. He's penciled in to start Friday against the Astros on the road.
