  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Delivers five scoreless innings

Lodolo did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Marlins, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out two over five scoreless innings. Lodolo matched up well with Eury Perez, who delivered six scoreless frames of his own for Miami, but Cincinnati's bullpen was shelled in the late innings to spoil his effort. The left-hander tossed just 73 pitches in his second start since returning from the injured list. It was a major upgrade from his return start, where he served up three home runs against the White Sox. Lodolo owns a 4.52 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 57:29 K:BB across 71.2 innings this season. He's tentatively scheduled to make his next start Friday against Arizona.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Allows three homers in return

Lodolo did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the White Sox, allowing four runs on five hits and no walks with five strikeouts over four innings. Lodolo allowed solo homers in the first, second and fourth innings, departing with a four-run deficit in his first start since July 11. On the bright side, he threw a solid 46 of 70 pitches for strikes and generated 13 whiffs, including eight on his signature curveball. The 28-year-old will take a 4.86 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 55:27 K across 66.2 innings this season into a home matchup with Miami this weekend.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Trying bullpen session Wednesday

Lodolo (blister) will attempt to throw a bullpen Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports. As Lodolo tries to throw from a mound Wednesday, he and the Reds will see how he is feeling and judge from there. The southpaw had the blister resurface July 11, which led to his removal from the game. He's been throwing a Plyo ball after getting his blister drained prior to the weekend.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Throwing with Plyo ball

Lodolo had his blister drained and began throwing with a Plyo ball, MLB.com reports. The report doesn't indicate when this activity happened, but Lodolo will continue with the Plyo ball until the finger's tenderness is reduced. The left-hander was removed from a start July 11 when a chronic blister issue resurfaced.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Likely bound for IL

Reds manager Terry Francona said after Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Cubs that Lodolo (finger) will likely require a stint on the injured list, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Lodolo was pulled in the sixth inning of Saturday due to a blister on his left finger, taking a no-decision after allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four over five frames. The southpaw notably missed the first six weeks of the season due to a blister on the same finger, though it's unclear if he'll require as lengthy of an absence this time around. Assuming the Reds move him to the IL on Sunday, Lodolo wouldn't be eligible to pitch again until July 27.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Exits game with blister

Lodolo was removed in the sixth inning of Saturday's game against the Cubs due to a blister on his left index finger, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports. A trainer came out to the mound to examine Lodolo's left index finger after the southpaw gave up a leadoff homer in the sixth inning. The blister was severe enough for Lodolo to be taken out of the game, and he'll end his start having allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four across five innings. He's dealt with blisters over the past couple of seasons and needed a stint on the 15-day injured list in 2025, but his recovery timeline should become clearer once he's evaluated further.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: In clear for next start

Lodolo (wrist) is listed as the Reds' probable starter for Monday's game against the Brewers at American Family Field. During his most recent start Tuesday versus the Brewers in Cincinnati, Lodolo was lifted after four scoreless innings when he took a line drive to his pitching wrist. The southpaw escaped with nothing more than a bruised wrist after X-rays returned negative, and he looks like he'll be ready to go when his turn in the rotation comes up again during the series opener in Milwaukee. Lodolo will carry a 2-2 record, 5.59 ERA and 1.52 WHIP into his 10th start of the season.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Looking good for next start

Reds manager Terry Francona said that Lodolo (wrist) "showed up pretty good" when he reported to the ballpark Wednesday, Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati reports. Lodolo was forced from Tuesday's start versus the Brewers after being struck on the left wrist by a comebacker off the bat of Jackson Chourio. However, X-rays returned negative, and Francona's words Wednesday indicate that Lodolo has minimal swelling. He'll need to get through his normal between-starts bullpen session first, but Lodolo appears on track to make his next scheduled start, which is lined up for Monday in Milwaukee.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: X-rays negative

X-rays on Lodolo's left wrist came back negative after Tuesday's loss to the Brewers, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Lodolo took a 107-mph line drive off his wrist in the fourth inning of Tuesday's contest and was pulled after finishing the frame. However, he seems to have escaped the incident without suffering any structural damage, and he could be good to go for his next start -- tentatively scheduled to come in Milwaukee on Monday -- if swelling doesn't become too much of an issue.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Takes no-decision Friday

Lodolo didn't factor into the decision in Friday's loss to the Diamondbacks, giving up two earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five batters over 5.1 innings. Lodolo was working with a lead for the vast majority of his start, but hopes of capturing his first win of June were dashed in the sixth inning after he plunked Jordan Lawlar, who then swiped second base and came around to score on LuJames Groover's single. Having to settle for a no-decision doesn't change the fact that Lodolo has been showing improvement on the mound after running into early struggles this year, turning in a 3.91 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with a 19:5 K:BB across his last four starts, each of which has lasted at least five innings.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: No-decision in St. Louis

Lodolo didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals, giving up four runs on nine hits and a walk over five-plus innings. He struck out three. The southpaw got tagged for three runs in the second inning and another in the fifth on a Jordan Walker solo shot, but Lodolo actually left the mound with the Reds nursing a 5-4 lead, only for the bullpen to blow it late. Lodolo has lasted at least five innings in five of six starts since making his season debut in early May due to blister issues, managing a 5.51 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 25:14 K:BB over 32.2 innings while serving up eight homers. He'll look to produce a sharper outing in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Diamondbacks.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Posts quality start in win

Lodolo (2-1) earned the win against Atlanta on Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks with four strikeouts over 6.2 innings. Lodolo allowed two homers and threw just 61 strikes on 100 pitches, but he managed to limit the overall damage against one of baseball's top lineups. It marked the second straight quality-start win for the southpaw, though he has now surrendered at least one long ball in each of his five outings this season. He'll carry a 5.20 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 22:13 K:BB across 27.2 innings into a road matchup against the Cardinals next weekend.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Lacks control in no-decision

Lodolo took a no-decision Monday against the Phillies, allowing three runs on three hits and five walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out three. Lodolo is struggling to find his footing since making his season debut earlier this month, having now given up at least three runs in all of his first three starts. It's also worth noting that the southpaw has hit a batter and been taken yard at least once in each outing so far, so neither his control nor his command have been particularly sharp. Lodolo will try to get himself on track in his next scheduled appearance versus St. Louis this weekend, holding a 7.20 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 11:9 K:BB over 15 innings.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Hurt by long ball in return

Lodolo (0-1) took the loss Friday, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk over 5.1 innings as the Reds were routed 10-0 by the Astros. He struck out two. Making his first start of the season after a blister issue cost him the first six weeks, Lodolo tossed 53 of 78 pitches for strikes but served up a pair of two-run homers, one by Zach Dezenzo in the second inning and the other by Yordan Alvarez in the sixth. Lodolo didn't shy away from using all his pitches, and his fingers appeared to emerge from the outing unscathed, but his velocity did decline in his final inning of work. The southpaw will look to build up his stamina and sharpen his command in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come at home next week against the Nationals.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Activated ahead of season debut

The Reds activated Lodolo (finger) from the 15-day injured list Friday. After missing the first six weeks of the season with a blister on his left index finger, Lodolo is set to make his season debut Friday with a start at home against the Astros. The left-hander threw 79 pitches in his final rehab start, so he's not expected to have any real workload limitations. Lodolo contributed a 3.33 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 156:31 K:BB across 156.2 innings for Cincinnati in the 2025 regular season.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Won't face limitations in debut

Lodolo (finger) expects to face no workload limitations when he's activated from the 15-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Astros in Cincinnati, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. Lodolo, who has been on the shelf all season while recovering from a blister on his left index finger, met with team officials following his rehab start Saturday with Triple-A Louisville and received the green light to make his next appearance with the Reds. The left-hander threw 79 pitches in his third and final rehab outing, including "16 or 17" sliders, which is the pitch that originally caused the blister.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Poised to come off IL on Friday

Lodolo (finger) is expected to return from the 15-day injured list to start Friday's home game against the Astros, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Lodolo -- who has been on the shelf all season due to a blister on his left index finger -- made the third and final start of his rehab assignment Saturday, striking out six batters and allowing two earned runs on five hits and two walks over 4.1 innings for Triple-A Louisville. The left-hander built up to 79 pitches in the outing, so he should be ready to handle a fairly normal workload next weekend in what would be his 2026 debut for the Reds. Before the Reds lock Lodolo into their upcoming pitching schedule, he'll likely need to complete a bullpen session Monday or Tuesday without incident.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Taking rehab to Triple-A

The Reds transferred Lodolo's (finger) rehab assignment to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday. Lodolo looked sharp in his rehab outing with High-A Dayton this past Sunday, when he allowed two hits and zero walks while striking out seven across five innings. He's been cleared to move his rehab assignment to Triple-A, and he may need just one outing with Louisville before being cleared to return to the big club. Lodolo is in the final stages of his recovery from a blister on his left index finger that landed him on the 15-day injured list prior to the start of the regular season.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Another rehab start ahead

Lodolo (finger) will make his next rehab start Saturday at a yet-to-be-determined affiliate, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports. Lodolo fanned seven over five scoreless frames with High-A Dayton on Sunday in his first rehab outing. He threw about 10 breaking balls in that start, and it's likely he'll attempt to incorporate more Saturday as he works his way back from a blister on his left index finger. Lodolo could return from the injured list next week following Saturday's outing, but it's possible the Reds ask him to make an additional rehab start to continue building up his pitch count.

  • Reds' Nick Lodolo: Fires five scoreless in rehab start

Lodolo (finger) allowed two hits and struck out seven over five scoreless innings for High-A Dayton on Sunday. Lodolo, who's been on the 15-day injured list since Opening Day due to a blister, kicked off a second rehab assignment Sunday. The left-hander was sharp, throwing 39 strikes among his 51 pitches. His first rehab was cut short when the blister resurfaced as he tried to throw a slider during a start for Dayton on April 2, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. There was no data or reporting on how many sliders Lodolo used Sunday.
