Brewers' Bryan Hudson: Collects third win

Hudson (3-0) picked up the win Monday against the Cubs. He pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, allowing one hit and no walks.

Hudson entered the seventh after Brewers starter Robert Gasser allowed consecutive singles to Seiya Suzuki and Cody Bellinger to begin the inning. The lefty reliever worked himself out of the jam, fanning two batters and inducing one popup. Hudson has been a stalwart in the Milwaukee bullpen, becoming manager Pat Murphy's most dependable southpaw, firing a 0.59 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB over 30.1 innings this season.

Steele did not factor into the decision Monday against Milwaukee, allowing three hits and one walk over seven shutout innings. He struck out eight.

Steele posted his best start since returning from a hamstring injury May 6, generating 13 whiffs in 93 total pitches. The Cubs lefty limited a ferocious Brewers offense that entered with the fourth-best team wRC+ at 115, allowing Milwaukee to scatter only four singles. Steele's ERA is now 4.45 over total 32.1 innings with 31:7 K:BB. The 28-year-old is currently slated to face the Reds at home in his next start.

Things have been excellent under the hood too, as he owns a 2.52 FIP and 47.3 percent groundball rate. Gasser is tentatively set to make his next scheduled start against the White Sox at home.

  • Giants' LaMonte Wade: Diagnosed with hamstring injury

Wade left Monday's game against the Phillies due to a left hamstring strain, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wade appeared to be grabbing his left knee before exiting Monday's game, but after further evaluation, it's been determined that he's dealing with a hamstring issue. The team has yet to comment further on whether a trip to the 10-day injured list will be required, but it seems likely given the nature of the injury, along with the fact that Wade will undergo an MRI on Tuesday, according to Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic. Wilmer Flores would be in line for more chances at first base if Wade misses additional time.

  • Giants' LaMonte Wade: Exits game with knee injury

Wade was lifted from Monday's game against the Phillies with an apparent left knee injury, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wade doubled off the wall in the bottom of the fifth inning but came up lame and had to be removed for a pinch-runner. He had missed the previous two games with a hamstring issue, but it would appear this is unrelated. The Giants should have more on Wade soon.

Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Resumes flat-ground work

Cabrera (shoulder) played catch from 60 feet Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera had to be shut down again after throwing a bullpen session on May 17, but he's been cleared to try to ramp things back up. The right-hander has been on the injured list on two occasions this season with a right shoulder issue and there is currently no timetable for his return.

The team needed to free up a spot on its 40-man roster for Xavier Edwards, who was activated from the 60-day injured list. Villalobos, 26, has allowed one run over 4.1 relief innings during his brief time with the big club this season.
