  • Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Getting rest Thursday

Edwards isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles. Edwards' seven-game hit streak ended with an 0-for-4 performance in Wednesday's contest, and the Marlins will now get the second baseman some rest during Thursday's series finale. Leo Jimenez will get the nod at the keystone and bat eighth.

  • Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Swats second homer of season

Edwards went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during the Marlins' 4-0 win over the Phillies on Saturday. Edwards extended the Marlins' lead to 3-0 after smacking a solo homer off Andrew Painter in the fifth inning. It was Edwards' second home run of the season, with his first taking place April 3 against the Mets. He has reached base safely in eight consecutive games, and over that span he has gone 10-for-28 (.357) with two steals, six walks and four RBI.

  • Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Logs three hits, steal

Edwards went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, one RBI and one run scored in Friday's 9-4 win over the Giants. Edwards saw a six-game hitting streak end Wednesday against the Cardinals, but he bounced back well. The steal was his first since April 5. The second baseman logged 27 steals on 34 attempts across 139 games in 2025, but he's just 3-for-4 on the basepaths over 26 contests in 2026. Edwards has made up for the lack of running with reliable hitting -- he's batting .347 with a .909 OPS, one home run, eight RBI, 19 runs scored, six doubles and two triples across 113 plate appearances. There's not a lot of power in his swing, but he has strong plate discipline and the potential to make a larger impact with his speed as the season progresses.

  • Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Gaining momentum ahead of opener

Edwards is batting .194 (7-for-36) in 14 games this spring with a 4:5 BB:K and three stolen bases in four attempts. While his Grapefruit League numbers aren't overly impressive, Edwards appears to be locking in ahead of Opening Day, as four of his seven hits have come in his last five games, a stretch in which he's gone 4-for-13 (.308) with a couple doubles. The 26-year-old switch hitter doesn't offer any power, but since making his big-league debut in 2023 he's been a strong leadoff option, batting .298 for the Marlins with a .358 OBP and 63 steals in 239 contests.

  • Marlins' Xavier Edwards: In lineup Friday

Edwards (calf) is leading off and playing second base in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets. It's a great sign for Edwards, who departed Thursday's game with left calf tightness. • Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Receiving rare day off

Edwards is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals. The Marlins haven't indicated that Edwards is dealing with an injury, so his absence from the lineup is likely just a planned rest day. The newly recalled Maximo Acosta will fill in at second base in place of Edwards, who started every game dating back to July 1 while slashing .331/.364/.461 with two home runs, nine stolen bases, 31 runs and 15 RBI over that 42-game stretch.

  • Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Resting up Wednesday

Edwards is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies. The Marlins are wrapping up their series against Colorado with a day game after a night game, so Edwards is likely just getting a breather after he recently made his return from the injured list. Since being activated Saturday after he was on the shelf for just under two weeks due to a mid-back strain, Edwards has gone 7-for-13 with a double, a walk, two runs and an RBI in four games.
