  • Freddy Tarnok RP | MIA

Phillies' Freddy Tarnok: Returns from IL

Tarnok (lat) struck out three and gave up three runs on two hits and one walk over an inning of relief for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday after being activated from the 7-day injured list.

The 25-year-old made his first appearance for Lehigh Valley since July 2 after he completed his recovery from a right lat strain. Before being activated, Tarnok made a pair of rehab appearances for High-A Jersey Shore, striking out two over three scoreless innings.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Still not throwing

Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Glasnow (elbow) has yet to begin playing catch, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The skipper added that Glasnow likely won't be activated once he's eligible to come off the injured list Aug. 31, but the team's concern is still relatively low. A clearer return timeline for the 30-year-old right-hander may emerge once he's able to begin a throwing program.

  • Miguel Rojas 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Managing hamstring issue

Rojas was scratched from the Dodgers' lineup prior to Wednesday's game against the Mariners due to a flareup of a left hamstring injury, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Manager Dave Roberts said the decision to take Rojas out of the lineup was precautionary, and he expects the 35-year-old shortstop to return to the lineup Friday against the Rays following Thursday's scheduled off day. Tommy Edman will get the starting nod at shortstop while Rojas rests, opening up center field for Kevin Kiermaier.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Smacks 25th home run

Lindor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Orioles.

Lindor opened the scoring in the third inning Wednesday, leading off the frame with an opposite-field blast off Cole Irvin, his 25th homer of the year. Lindor now has at least 25 homers and 25 steals in back-to-back seasons and three times in his 10-year MLB career. The shortstop has been red hot, going 23-for-64 (.359) with a 1.006 OPS over his last 15 contests. Lindor's boosted his slash line to .266/.339/.477 on the campaign with 85 runs scored and 73 RBI across 579 plate appearances.

  • Jake Fraley RF | TB

Reds' Jake Fraley: Scratched from lineup

Fraley was scratched from the Reds' lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays due to a right knee sprain.

The severity of Fraley's injury remains unknown, but his knee will cause him to sit out at least Wednesday's contest. Will Benson will fill in as the Reds' right fielder and bat eighth.

  • Jordan Wicks SP | CHC

Cubs' Jordan Wicks: Sharp in latest rehab start

Wicks (oblique) struck out four while allowing one hit and no walks over four scoreless innings in his rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Iowa.

After being tagged for 10 earned runs while walking four batters in 3.2 innings over his first two rehab starts with Iowa, Wicks showed much improved command and control Tuesday while informing the Cubs afterward that he "felt great" during the outing, per Ryan Herrera of AllCHGO.com. After building up to 53 pitches Tuesday, Wicks will need at least one more outing in the minors to get fully stretched out before he returns from the 60-day injured list. Kyle Hendricks would seem to be most at risk of losing his spot in the rotation once Wicks is activated.

  • Miguel Rojas 2B | LAD

    Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Scratched Wednesday

Rojas was scratched from the lineup ahead of Wednesday's game versus Seattle, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

It's unclear exactly why Rojas was taken out of the starting nine, but the Dodgers should provide more information relatively soon. In the meantime, Tommy Edman will move to shortstop while Kevin Kiermaier starts in center field.

  • David Bednar RP | NYY

Pirates' David Bednar: Takes loss vs. Rangers

Bednar (3-6) took the loss Wednesday against the Rangers, allowing a run on three hits over two-thirds of an inning. He struck out one.

With the game scoreless in the bottom of the ninth, Bednar allowed a pair of singles to lead off the frame. He managed to retire Nathaniel Lowe and Josh Jung before giving up a two-out, walk-off single to Wyatt Langford. It's the third loss in six outings for Bednar, who's allowed nine earned runs in his last nine innings. His ERA is up to 5.68 on the season with a 1.35 WHIP and 48:15 K:BB across 44.1 innings. Bednar has 22 saves in 27 chances this year, though he could lose work in the ninth to Aroldis Chapman if his struggles continue.

  • Domingo German SP | PIT

Pirates' Domingo German: Sharp in first Pirates start

German allowed three hits and four walks over six scoreless innings in a no-decision Wednesday against the Rangers. He struck out four.

Making his first start this season, German was excellent, blanking the Rangers over six frames despite allowing at least one baserunner in five frames. The 31-year-old right-hander has allowed just two runs through 12 innings this year with the Pirates, posting a 1.00 WHIP with eight strikeouts. However, with Jared Jones (lat) nearing a return, German figures to head back to a swingman role in Pittsburgh.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Sitting down Wednesday

Amaya isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Wednesday's game versus Detroit.

Amaya will get a chance to regroup Wednesday after being held hitless in nine at-bats over his last three games. Christian Bethancourt will catch instead for right-hander Jameson Taillon and bat ninth.
