  • Padres' Manny Machado: Pops 12th long ball

Machado went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in a 9-3 win against Baltimore on Saturday. San Diego belted five homers as a team, and Machado capped the long-ball fest with a 429-foot shot to center field in the ninth inning. The star third baseman is still trying to climb out of an early hole and remains saddled with a poor .178/.255/.364 slash line on the campaign. However, Machado does lead San Diego with 12 home runs and 35 RBI, and he's showing signs of busting out of the season-long slump. Over his past four contests, he's gone 6-for-18 with five extra-base hits (four doubles and a homer) along with three RBI.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Up to 11 homers

Machado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Thursday in a loss to Philadelphia. Machado struck out twice in the contest, but he also provided half of the Padres' runs with his blast in the seventh inning. The star third baseman began the campaign very slowly, batting .198 with just two home runs over his first 25 games. However, Machado has picked up the pace in the power department since then, going deep nine times across his subsequent 34 contests. He's otherwise still looking for his swing, though, batting just .157 during that span, and his .174 batting average on the season is the second-worst mark among qualified MLB hitters.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Goes deep in loss

Machado went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBI in Saturday's 9-4 loss to the Nationals. Machado launched a solo blast in the fourth inning before adding an RBI double in the eighth, notching his first multi-hit effort since May 3. The third baseman has gone deep four times over his past 10 games, though he's hit just 6-for-36 during that stretch. For the year, he's slashing a disappointing .178/.272/.360 with 10 homers, 30 RBI, 28 runs scored and one stolen base across 229 plate appearances.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Hits long ball in loss

Machado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Phillies. Machado is still struggling to make consistent contact. He has just three hits over his last seven games, but all three have gone over the fence. The third baseman's extended slump -- 21 games without a multi-hit effort -- has him at a .173 batting average and .616 OPS this season. He's added nine homers, 27 RBI, 27 runs scored and a stolen base over 52 contests.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Swats eighth homer

Machado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 7-3 win over the Athletics. This was Machado's second homer over the last three games as his power starts to come back a bit. He's still scuffling, having hit safely in just six of his last 12 contests and going 6-for-45 (.133) with three homers, six RBI and 14 strikeouts in that span. On the season, the third baseman is batting .179 with a .618 OPS, eight homers, 24 RBI, 26 runs scored, one stolen base and five doubles over 48 games.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Lifts homer in loss

Machado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers. Machado provided a quick response to Freddie Freeman's two-run blast in the top of the first inning, answering in the home half of the frame. It's been 15 games without a multi-hit effort for Machado, who has gone 5-for-56 (.089) with two homers and four RBI in that span. The third baseman is batting just .182 with a .616 OPS, seven homers, 22 RBI, 25 runs scored, five doubles and a stolen base over 46 contests. Machado has never hit under .250 or posted an OPS lower than .739 in a season, so he should be able to turn things around eventually.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Belts 200th homer as Padre

Machado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday in a 4-2 victory versus St. Louis. Machado gave San Diego closer Mason Miller an insurance run with a solo blast in the bottom of the eighth inning. The homer also marked a personal milestone for the veteran third baseman, as it was his 200th regular-season home run since he joined San Diego. Machado entered Saturday having gone 0-for-19 at the plate over his previous five contests, and he's still slashing an uncharacteristic .197/.303/.364 on the season, so he'll look to use his late long ball as a catalyst toward better success at the plate.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Back in lineup at designated hitter

Machado (leg) will start at designated hitter and bat third in Wednesday's game against the Cubs. Machado didn't play Tuesday after exiting Monday's contest when he tweaked his leg. He's feeling well enough to DH in Wednesday's series finale and could return to third base this weekend. Miguel Andujar will play the hot corner Wednesday for the Padres.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Machado (leg) isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs. Machado made an early exit from Monday's game due to a leg injury, and although manager Craig Stammen said after the game that the 33-year-old third baseman is fine, the Padres will keep him on the bench Tuesday as a precaution. Jake Cronenworth will make his first career start at the hot corner as a result, moving Fernando Tatis to second base and giving Bryce Johnson a start in right field.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Exits as precaution

Manager Craig Stammen said after Monday's game against the Cubs that Machado is "fine" and was removed from the contest as a precautionary move, Marty Caswell of Foul Territyory reports. The veteran third baseman came out of the batter's box awkwardly and wasn't moving well down the line in the sixth inning Monday, so the Padres elected to lift him from the contest after he went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored. Stammen didn't mention a specific injury but indicated Machado's lower half wasn't feeling great after a couple of slides into second base. He should be considered day-to-day heading into Tuesday's matchup with Chicago.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Exits with injury

Machado left Monday's game against the Cubs with an unspecified injury, 97.3 The Fan reports. Machado left the matchup after grounding out to end the bottom of the sixth inning. He made it about halfway up the line before turning around and walking slowly off the field. The nature of Machado's injury is unclear at this time, so he can be considered day-to-day until the club has another update to share.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Tallies two RBI in win

Machado went 1-for-1 with two RBI and two walks in Sunday's 7-2 win over Colorado. Machado opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the first inning before later delivering an opposite-field single in the fifth frame for his second RBI of the day. After a slow start to the season, the star third baseman has been a run-producing force of late, recording two RBI in each of his past two games and driving in nine runs over his past seven contests.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Belts long ball Saturday

Machado went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run against the Rockies in a 9-5 victory Saturday. Machado's third-inning, two-run blast pulled the Padres to within a run after Colorado built a big early lead. The star third baseman has struggled to get his bat going, hitting just .193 through 14 games, so he'll look to Saturday's homer to spark a hot streak. Machado does have a 13:12 BB:K this season, and he's managed to get on base at a .367 clip despite the low batting average.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: First day off of season

Machado is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh. Machado will receive his first day off of the season after slashing .206/.400/.353 with one home run and an 11:11 BB:K over his first 45 plate appearances. The Padres will roll with Miguel Andujar at third base in Wednesday's rubber match.

Machado gave San Diego its first lead of the day in the fifth inning with his two-out blast off Greg Weissert that put the Padres ahead 6-4. It's the first homer and RBI of the season for Machado, who'd gone just 2-for-17 in six games prior to Sunday. The third baseman is now slashing .222/.417/.407 through nine games this year.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Enjoys big game in Cactus League

Machado went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, a walk and six RBI in Thursday's Cactus League loss to Cincinnati. Machado went 0-for-5 over his first three spring contests but exploded with a two-run home run and a grand slam Thursday. The veteran third baseman is approaching his eighth season with San Diego and has hit between 27 and 32 homers in each of the past five regular seasons. Machado remains one of fantasy's top third basemen and has typically been one of the first five players selected at the position in drafts this year.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Homers in Sunday's win

Machado went 2-for-2 with a solo home run, a second RBI and two total runs scored in Sunday's 12-4 win over the Diamondbacks. Machado was done after three innings with the Padres leading 6-2 at the time. That was likely to afford him some extra rest ahead of the playoffs. The third baseman went 14-for-46 (.304) with four homers and 11 RBI over his last 12 games of the regular season. Overall, he posted a .275/.335/.460 slash line with 27 homers, 95 RBI, 91 runs scored, 14 stolen bases and 33 doubles across 159 games, numbers largely in line with his performances in 2023 and 2024.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Absent from Saturday's lineup

Machado isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks. Machado will grab a seat on the bench Saturday after going 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's game. Jose Iglesias will pick up a start at third base and bat sixth while Machado rests.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Getting breather Tuesday

Machado is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Brewers. Machado will take a seat for just the second time this season as the Padres go to battle with Milwaukee. The Padres clinched a playoff berth by winning Monday's series opener 5-4 in 11 innings, so it makes sense to give Machado a little extra rest. Jose Iglesias will draw the start at third base and bat sixth in his place.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Blasts grand slam for 26th homer

Machado went 3-for-5 with a grand slam in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Mets. With the game tied in the fifth inning, the veteran slugger delivered in a massive way, launching a 401-foot shot off David Peterson to give San Diego a lead it never surrendered. It was Machado's 26th homer of the season and his third in the last four games, a stretch in which he's driven in eight runs across just 17 plate appearances. The 33-year-old continues to anchor the Padres' lineup and is now slashing .279/.340/.469 with 26 homers, 92 RBI, 86 runs, 33 doubles and 14 stolen bases through 645 plate appearances.
