  • Padres' Freddy Fermin: Resting Saturday

Fermin isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.

Fermin is currently stuck in an 0-for-23 stretch at the plate, so the Padres will give him a day to collect himself Saturday while Rodolfo Duran starts at catcher, batting ninth.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Pirates' Marcell Ozuna: Sitting out third straight

Ozuna isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins.

Saturday will mark Ozuna's third consecutive absence from the starting lineup. Konnor Griffin will work as Pittsburgh's designated hitter again while working through a right forearm flexor strain, affording Jared Triolo a start at shortstop.

  • Henry Davis C | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Out of Saturday's lineup

Davis isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Minnesota.

After going just 5-for-47 at the plate since the start of May, Davis will sit for the third time in Pittsburgh's last four games. Endy Rodriguez will start behind the plate Saturday and bat seventh.

  • Jacob Young CF | WAS

Nationals' Jacob Young: On bench Saturday

Young isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against San Diego.

Young will get a chance to rest his legs Saturday after tallying five hits across his last five games, adding a homer, two RBI and three runs in that span. Daylen Lile, Dylan Crews and James Wood will start across the outfield while Young sits.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

    Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Idle Saturday

Ruiz isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres.

Ruiz has recorded multiple hits as well as an RBI and a run in both of his last two games, but the Nats will keep him on the bench to begin Saturday's contest while Drew Millas starts at catcher, batting eighth.

  • Luis Torrens C | NYM

Mets' Luis Torrens: Getting rest Saturday

Torrens isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

Torrens will take a seat after going 0-for-3 with a strikeout during Friday's series opener. Hayden Senger will take over behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Mets' Anderson Severino: Pushed off 40-man

The Mets designated Severino for assignment Saturday.

The Mets added the 31-year-old southpaw to the 40-man roster May 19, but he'll now lose his spot in favor of Cionel Perez without ever receiving a promotion to the majors. Severino has been extremely effective at Triple-A Syracuse this season, posting a 1.31 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through 20.2 innings, making it possible that another team will claim him off waivers.

  • Cionel Perez RP | NYM

Mets' Cionel Perez: Selected from Triple-A

The Mets selected Perez's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.

Perez joined the Mets on a minor-league deal May 6 and has since given up two earned runs in seven innings at Syracuse while striking out 10 batters and walking five. He'll now return to the majors to replace Tobias Myers in the Mets' bullpen and likely work in low-leverage situations to begin with. Anderson Severino was designated for assignment to make room for Perez on the 40-man roster.

  • Tobias Myers RP | NYM

Mets' Tobias Myers: Optioned to Syracuse

The Mets optioned Myers to Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.

Myers has struggled on the mound since the start of May, posting a 6.43 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with a 10:4 K:BB over 14 innings this month. He'll head back to Triple-A to right the ship, and the Mets will replace him by selecting Cionel Perez's contract from Syracuse.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Swats fifth homer

Ruiz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Padres.

The backstop took Lucas Giolito deep in the second inning as the Nationals grabbed an early lead the bullpen let slip away. Over 15 games in May, Ruiz is slashing .364/.368/.727 with four of his five homers on the season along with eight doubles, 10 runs and 16 RBI.
