  • Mets' Luis Robert: No baseball activities

Robert (back) has yet to resume baseball activities since landing on the 10-day injured list in late April, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. The 28-year-old was shut down for 7-to-10 days after receiving an injection for a lumbar spine disc herniation in late April, and it's unclear when he'll be able to get back to baseball work. Robert is without a clear timeline for his return but is likely to be out for at least a couple more weeks since he'll need some time to ramp his activity back up.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Officially lands on 10-day IL

The Mets placed Robert on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a lumbar spine disc herniation. Robert hasn't played in a few days and an MRI revealed the herniation in his back. He will be shut down for 7-to-10 days after being given an injection Thursday, per Max Goodman of NJ.com. While a minimum stay on the IL is unlikely, the Mets are hopeful Robert's absence won't be a lengthy one. Tyrone Taylor and MJ Melendez will see more action in the outfield for the Mets while Robert is shelved.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Likely headed to injured list

The Mets are expected to place Robert (back) on the 10-day injured list, Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv reports. Robert hasn't played since Sunday because of lower-back tightness and had to undergo an MRI. The results of that imaging haven't been revealed, but things are trending toward the outfielder requiring some extended down time. Tyrone Taylor and MJ Melendez will see more action in the outfield for the Mets while Robert is sidelined.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Might require stint on injured list

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Robert's back pain hasn't improved, adding that the outfielder will undergo an MRI, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports. Robert will miss a third straight start Wednesday against the Nationals. More will be known about Robert's status after the imaging results are in, but Mendoza conceded that there's a chance the 28-year-old needs to spend time on the injured list. Tyrone Taylor and MJ Melendez would be in line for more playing time should Robert's absence be extended.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Dealing with tight back

Robert is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals due to lower-back tightness, Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv reports. Robert's absence from the lineup is his third in the past four games, so it's not a surprise to find out he's managing an injury. The veteran outfielder isn't scheduled to undergo any medical testing at this point, but that could change if there's no improvement in the next 48 hours. For now, Robert should be considered day-to-day.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Taking seat Tuesday

Robert is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals. It's the third absence in New York's past four games for Robert, who is batting .132 (5-for-38) with three doubles and no homers in his past 10 contests. Carson Benge will shift to center field Tuesday while Brett Baty receives a start in right.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: On bench for Game 2

Robert is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Rockies. Robert started in center field in Sunday's matinee, per usual, and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. He'll take a seat for the second time in the series in Game 2. Tyrone Taylor will start in center field and bat ninth in the nightcap.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Exiting starting nine

Robert is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies. Robert is just 6-for-39 at the plate across his last 10 contests, so he'll get a day off to regroup. The Mets will roll with Tyrone Taylor in center field for Friday's series opener.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Out of Sunday's lineup

Robert is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics. It's likely just a maintenance day for Robert, who started the previous six games and batted .364 (8-for-22) with four walks, a homer, two steals and five runs during that span. Carson Benge will shift to center field for Sunday's series finale while Tyrone Taylor and Brett Baty start in the corners.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Continues strong start to season

Robert went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Thursday in a loss to the Diamondbacks. Robert produced the first and only Mets run with a solo shot to center field in the first inning. The long ball was his second of the season and extended his on-base streak to eight games. In fact, Robert has reached base in all but one of his 12 contests on the campaign and is slashing .333/.480/.487 with the pair of homers, eight runs, seven RBI and two stolen bases while taking 11 walks, which is tied for fifth most in the majors.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Steals two bases, scores two runs

Robert went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Giants. Robert singled three times and stole his first two bases of the season Sunday, as he helped create multiple runs for the Mets. Robert has just one extra-base hit in nine games with his new team but is slashing .333/.474/.433 with one home run, six RBI, six runs scored, two steals and an 8:5 BB:K across 38 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Taking seat Saturday

Robert isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants. Robert will stay put in the dugout to begin Saturday's contest after going 1-for-6 with three walks, an RBI and a run scored during the first two games of the series. Jared Young, Carson Benge and Brett Baty will form the Mets' outfield trio while Robert rests.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Getting breather Monday

Robert is absent from the lineup for Monday's tilt in St. Louis. Robert will receive a day of rest after starting all three games of the Mets' season-opening series against the Pirates. Carson Benge will slide over to center field and Brett Baty will handle right field for the Mets.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: On base three times in Mets debut

Robert went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and two RBI in Thursday's win over the Pirates. Batting fifth in his Mets debut, Robert was a big part of an offensive eruption that saw his new team score 11 runs and chase Paul Skenes from the game in the first inning. Robert's athletic gifts have never been in question, but the 28-year-old center fielder has rarely been able to stay healthy during his career, playing more than 110 games only once in six seasons with the White Sox and struggling to a .223/.288/.372 slash line with a 29.7 percent strikeout rate in 2024-25. If he's able to stay in the lineup for New York, he's still capable of putting together a big campaign.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Could debut Thursday

Robert could make his Grapefruit League debut with the Mets on Thursday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. The 28-year-old center fielder has been treated with kid gloves early in the spring, having him play exclusively on back fields, but the Mets appear just about ready to let Robert start ramping up in earnest ahead of Opening Day. "He's in a good place right now," manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday. "You just watch him take batting practice, and the way the ball comes off his bat is different. He could be special." It's been a while since Robert was healthy enough to display his considerable upside, but the last time he played close to a full season in 2023, he slashed .264/.315/.542 with 38 homers and 20 steals in 145 games.

  • Mets' Luis Robert: Eased into action this spring

The Mets will hold Robert out of the first few Grapefruit League games as he works on strengthening his lower body, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. Per Will Sammon and Tim Britton of The Athletic, the center fielder won't see game action until the second week of the Grapefruit League schedule. Robert is healthy, but the club wants to be proactive given all the leg issues he's dealt with the last few years. The 28-year-old slashed only .223/.288/.372 while averaging 105 games played over his last two seasons with the White Sox, but he showed signs of life in the second half of 2025 with a .298/.352/.456 line before being shut down with a strained hamstring. Robert will be the Mets' everyday center fielder in 2026 for as long as he can stay healthy.

  • White Sox's Luis Robert: ChiSox pick up $20 million option

The White Sox exercised Robert's $20 million option for 2026 on Tuesday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. Robert has slashed only .223/.288/.372 over 210 games covering the past two seasons and has a lengthy history of injuries. However, he hit .298/.352/.456 after the All-Star break in 2025, and the White Sox are betting on his ability to bounce back. Having a $20 million club option for 2027 surely factored into their decision, as well. Robert ended this season on the 10-day injured list with a strained hamstring, but he'll be 100 percent for spring training.

  • White Sox's Luis Robert: Likely done for season

White Sox general manager Chris Getz acknowledged Wednesday that Robert could be done for the season after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Robert suffered the injury during Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Royals and was subsequently placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. Given that he's been diagnosed with a moderate strain and the White Sox have less than five weeks of games remaining, a return before the end of the season looks like a long shot for Robert. Getz also noted Wednesday that the club remains "committed to Luis," perhaps hinting that the organization plans on exercising Robert's $20 million team option for 2026 this offseason. If Robert's 2025 season is indeed over, he'll finish with a .223/.297/.364 batting line, 14 home runs, 33 stolen bases, 53 RBI and 52 runs over 428 plate appearances. He performed much better following the All-Star break with a .298/.352/.456 slash line, after he had batted just .190/.275/.325 in the first half.

  • White Sox's Luis Robert: Lands on IL with strained hamstring

The White Sox placed Robert on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a left hamstring strain. Robert suffered the injury during Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Royals. The severity of the strain hasn't yet been revealed, but even a low-grade strain has the potential to keep Robert shelved longer than the minimum 10 days. Brooks Baldwin and Michael Taylor will likely see the bulk of the playing time in center field while Robert is sidelined.

  • White Sox's Luis Robert: Leaves game with hamstring injury

Robert was removed from Tuesday's game against the Royals with left hamstring soreness. Robert grounded out during his lone plate appearance before his hamstring forced him out of the game in the fourth inning. More details on the severity of his injury should come once the White Sox are finished taking a look at him, but he can be considered day-to-day for the time being.
