Candelario started at first base and went 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Thursday's 11-7 loss to the Mariners.

Candelario, who has one hit in his last 32 at-bats and is batting .117 this year, has managed to get regular opportunities all season thanks to infield injuries, with his 60 at-bats ranking fourth on the team. Just as the Reds got healthy and it looked like Candelario would lose playing time, the team placed first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand (back) on the 10-day injured list Thursday. With Spencer Steer's shoulder limiting him to designated hitter, Candelario could be the primary first baseman while Encarnacion-Strand is out.

Canning (2-1) picked up the win Thursday against the Cardinals after allowing one run on three hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out eight.

The veteran right-hander was sharp Thursday while firing six innings for the first time this season. He scattered three singles, one of which did score Victor Scott in the third inning following a stolen base and a wild pitch, but Canning appeared to be well over the illness that cost him Wednesday's scheduled start against the Twins. Canning holds a serviceable 3.43 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 21:10 K:BB over four starts (21 innings), but he could find difficulty turning in a repeat performance in a tougher matchup against the Phillies next week.

Naylor went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Marlins.

Naylor went deep for a third straight game and is up to four homers through 19 contests this season. He's hit safely in nine of the last 10 games, batting .368 with seven extra-base hits, 10 RBI and seven runs scored during that stretch.

Fitzgerald went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies.

Fitzgerald struck out in his first three at-bats but launched a 381-foot homer to left field in the ninth inning. The 27-year-old infielder logged at least one hit in all four games of the Giants' series against the Phillies, going 8-for-17 at the plate during that span. Fitzgerald dealt with a lower-back injury during spring training and struggled at the start of the 2025 campaign. When asked about his slow start to the season Wednesday, Fitzgerald said, "I just felt like I had some really bad habits from when I hurt my back in spring training," according to Maria Guardado of MLB.com. However, he has been stellar of late and is now slashing .309/.345/.527 with 10 runs scored, seven extra-base hits, six RBI and a 3:15 BB:K across 60 plate appearances.

Beeks walked one and struck out three over a scoreless inning to earn a hold in Thursday's 6-4 win over Miami.

Beeks opened the eighth inning and walked the first batter he faced, then struck out the next three swinging. He continued a dominant start to the season and has earned high-leverage appearances. The left-hander picked up his second hold of the season and second in as many games. The 31-year-old Beeks lowered his ERA to 0.77 with a 13:3 K:BB over 11.2 frames.

Manager Rob Thomson said Thursday that Marsh (knee) is day-to-day and is not expected to be placed on the 10-day injured list, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Marsh was out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Giants, as Johan Rojas started in center field and went 0-for-2 with a walk in the Phillies' 6-4 victory. Marsh is hitless in the month of April and is slashing .095/.220.167 with one home run, five RBI, three runs scored and 7:16 BB:K on the season. Rojas figures to soak up the bulk of the playing time in center field for however long Marsh is sidelined.

Chapman went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and three total RBI in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies.

Chapman was the lone Giant to have any luck against Cristopher Sanchez in the defeat -- the third baseman got San Francisco on the board with a two-out RBI single in the first inning before cutting the deficit to 5-3 with a homer in the sixth, his third this season. Following an 0-for-22 stretch, Chapman has gone 7-for-16 (.438) in his last four contests. He's now batting .239 with an .804 OPS, 12 RBI, 11 runs scored and two stolen bases through 83 plate appearances this season.

Hicks (1-2) took the loss Thursday against the Phillies, allowing five runs on six hits and four walks over seven innings. He struck out five.

It looked like it would be a short outing for Hicks, who allowed the first five Phillies to reach base in the opening frame, ultimately allowing five runs. However, the 28-year-old managed to blank Philadelphia over his subsequent six innings, allowing just one additional hit while he covered seven frames for just the second time in his big-league career. While the Giants couldn't overcome the early deficit in an eventual 6-4 defeat, it was an impressive rebound effort from Hicks. The right-hander will carry a 6.04 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 19:10 K:BB into his next start, tentatively lined up for next week against the Brewers.

Alvarado earned the save in Thursday's 6-4 win over San Francisco, allowing one run on two hits in the ninth inning.

Alvarado gave up a one-out homer to Tyler Fitzgerald, allowing the Giants to cut the deficit to two, though he rebounded to close out the victory to improve to 4-for-4 in save chances this year. The left-handed Alvarado has given up a run in each of his past two outings, but he still sports a 2.89 ERA with a 1.39 WHIP and 14:2 K:BB through 9.1 innings this season.

Sanchez (2-0) earned the win Thursday over the Giants, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out 12.

Sanchez was dominant Thursday, logging a career-high 12 strikeouts en route to a second straight win. All three of San Francisco's runs against Sanchez came off the bat of Matt Chapman, who drove in a run with a single in the first inning before smacking a two-run homer in the sixth. Sanchez's ERA now sits at 2.96 through four starts (24.1 innings) with a 1.15 WHIP and an impressive 31:6 K:BB. The left-hander is currently scheduled for next week on the road against the Mets.
