Heyward is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

The left-handed-hitting Heyward will hit the bench for the second day in a row while the Pirates send another lefty (Andrew Heaney) to the hill for the series finale. Platoon mate Oscar Gonzalez will replace Heyward as the Friars' starting left fielder.

The Padres optioned Morgan to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

He'll head back to the minors to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for right-hander Stephen Kolek, who was recalled from Triple-A ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Pirates. Morgan didn't get the chance to make his MLB debut out of the San Diego bullpen after receiving his first big-league call-up from Double-A San Antonio last Sunday.

The Padres recalled Kolek from Triple-A El Paso ahead of his scheduled start Sunday in Pittsburgh.

David Morgan was optioned to Triple-A El Paso to make room on the 26-man active roster for Kolek, who will step in as the Padres' new No. 5 starter after Kyle Hart was previously demoted to Triple-A on April 24. Over his five outings with El Paso on the season, Kolek submitted a 6.38 ERA and 1.54 WHIP over 24 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, but a 20:4 K:BB paints a more favorable picture of his overall performance. The 28-year-old righty should have an opportunity to make multiple turns through the rotation for the Padres, as Yu Darvish's (elbow) return from the injured list is not considered imminent.

Fortes (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and will start at catcher and bat seventh Sunday versus the Athletics.

The 28-year-old will rejoin the active roster after missing nearly a month due to a Grade 1 oblique strain. Fortes opened the campaign as Miami's primary catcher and had an .833 OPS through 22 plate appearances, but prospect Agustin Ramirez has taken over the role and has a .908 OPS in his first 10 big-league games.

The Marlins placed Lopez (ankle) on the 10-day injured list Sunday.

The 26-year-old was diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprain of his right ankle Saturday, so it's not a surprise he'll require some time on the IL. Lopez will be eligible to be reinstated May 13 but could require a longer absence. Catcher Nick Fortes (oblique) was activated from the IL in a corresponding move, and Javier Sanoja and Ronny Simon will likely to see more playing time for the Marlins at second base while Lopez is out.

The Cardinals recalled Munoz from Triple-A Memphis ahead of Sunday's doubleheader with the Mets.

St. Louis optioned Munoz to Memphis on Saturday, but he's eligible to rejoin the club just one day later since he's being designated as the 27th man for the twin bill. Munoz will be available out of the bullpen before heading back to Triple-A.

Winn is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Mets.

Since returning to action April 22 following a stint on the injured list due to a back issue, Winn has been one of the hottest hitters in the Cardinals lineup, slashing .333/.390/.611 over his last 10 games. The shortstop has settled in as St. Louis' No. 2 hitter, but manager Oliver Marmol said that the 23-year-old will get some preventative maintenance for his back in the first game of the twin bill, per John Denton of MLB.com. Jose Barrero will fill in for him in the matinee, but Marmol confirmed that Winn will be back in the starting nine for the nightcap.

Walker is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Mets, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Walker will take a seat for the early game to clear a spot in the lineup at designated hitter for Alec Burleson, one of three left-handed hitters the Cardinals will deploy at the top of the order to counter Mets right-hander Blade Tidwell. Expect Walker to check back into the starting nine for the second game of the day against Mets righty Tylor Megill.

Warren was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse and subsequently recalled to serve as the 27th man for Sunday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

The right-hander was called up Friday by the Mets and didn't appear in that game, so he'll stick around as bullpen depth for the twin bill. Warren has a 4.35 ERA and 14:9 K:BB across 10.1 innings with Triple-A Syracuse this season but has yet to make his 2025 debut in the majors.

Taylor is out of the lineup for first game of Sunday's doubleheader in St. Louis.

Since he returned from the injured list April 24, Jeff McNeil has represented Taylor's primary competition for playing time in center field, but McNeil will head back to his familiar spot at second base in the first game of the day while Jose Azocar gets the nod in center. Taylor owns a pedestrian .601 OPS on the season, but he's been playing well of late, going 7-for-15 with three extra-base knocks over his last five games. The Mets should continue to keep at least semi-regular playing time open for Taylor while he's swinging a hot bat.
