Edman isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Colorado, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Edman will get a chance to rest during Wednesday's contest after going 3-for-8 with two doubles and two runs scored during the first two games of the series. Miguel Rojas will fill in at second base and bat sixth.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Goes yard Friday

Edman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the Brewers. Edman has struggled a bit in August, going just 8-for-47 (.170) over 13 contests this month. He has swatted two homers and added five RBI. The utility man is batting .276 with a .760 OPS, four homers, 23 RBI, 23 runs scored, six doubles, two triples and four stolen bases over 47 games. Edman continues to see most of his playing time at second base in a starting role.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Edman is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Royals on Wednesday. Edman will be on the bench for the start of Wednesday's game after going 2-for-8 with a run scored across the first two games of the series against Kansas City. Miguel Rojas will start at second base and bat ninth in Edman's absence.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Swats three-run homer Monday

Edman went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in a loss to the Cubs on Monday. Edman capped a torrid beginning to the contest by Los Angeles, slamming a three-run homer to left field on just the fifth pitch by opposing starter Matthew Boyd. Despite the fast start, the Dodgers ultimately suffered their fourth straight defeat. For Edman, the long ball was big because is snapped a four-game hitless stretch at the plate during which he had gone 0-for-14. Even with that mini slump, the utility man has posted a .300/.378/.458 slash line with three homers, 20 runs, 21 RBI and three stolen bases through 37 contests.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Taking seat Friday

Edman isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Boston. Edman will get a chance to rest Friday after starting each of the Dodgers' last nine games and posting a .658 OPS while doing so. Miguel Rojas will pick up a start at second base and bat third while Edman sits.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Knocks in three runs Wednesday

Edman went 3-for-4 with a triple, a run and three RBI in Wednesday's 9-5 win over Philadelphia. Edman's biggest hit was a bases-loaded triple in the eighth inning that doubled what had been a three-run Dodgers lead. The utility man has continued to hit well since returning from the All-Star break, slashing .421/.500/.737 with one home run, six RBI and five runs over six games. Overall, Edman has an impressive .974 OPS with two long balls, five doubles, two triples, 16 runs, 17 RBI and two stolen bases through 100 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Productive in Sunday's doubleheader

Edman went 3-for-6 with a solo homer, three total RBI and four total runs scored and was hit by a pitch across both games of Sunday's doubleheader split with the Yankees. Edman recorded two hits, including a two-RBI single in Sunday's matinee victory. After starting the nightcap on the bench in favor of Miguel Rojas, Edman entered in the eighth inning and launched a game-tying solo homer before the Yankees answered in the bottom half of the frame. The switch hitter has hit safely in each of his past eight games dating back to before the All-Star break. After not making his season debut until June 17 due to a right ankle injury, the 31-year-old is slashing .355/.430/.526 with eight extra-base hits (two homers), 14 RBI, 15 runs and two stolen bases across 25 contests.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Swipes bag in return

Edman went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Rockies. Seeing Edman swipe a bag is a positive sign after he sat out two games due to issues with his right foot/ankle, the same one that was surgically repaired in the offseason. He played the full game in left field to give Teoscar Hernandez a day off. Edman is batting .340 with a .917 OPS, one home run, two steals, nine RBI, seven runs scored, three doubles and a triple over 18 contests this season. He'll get a decent share of the time at second base, but Edman's versatility and the Dodgers' trust in Alex Freeland means the former is often functionally more of super-utility player.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Back in lineup

Edman (foot/ankle) will start in left field and bat fifth Tuesday against the Rockies, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Problems with his surgically repaired right foot/ankle kept Edman out of the starting nine for the Dodgers' last two games, though he came in off the bench in both contests. Now healthy and back in the lineup, he'll aim to stay hot after slashing .347/439/.510 with nine RBI and six runs scored in 17 games since his return from the injured list June 17.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Held out again Monday

Edman (foot/ankle) remains out of the lineup for Monday's contest against the Rockies. Edman was scratched from Sunday's lineup versus the Padres due to soreness in his right foot/ankle. It's the same ankle he had surgically repaired over the offseason, but the current injury is unrelated, as Edman is sore as a result of a hit-by-pitch Saturday. Miguel Rojas will fill in at second base for the Dodgers on Monday.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Scratched Sunday

Edman was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres due to a right foot/ankle injury, Jack Harris of the California Post reports. Edman was penciled in to start at third base but will instead head to the bench. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic that Edman was removed from the lineup as a precaution after being hit in the foot by a Mason Miller pitch in the eighth inning of Saturday's 3-0 win. Alex Freeland will replace Edman in the lineup and start at second base, pushing Miguel Rojas over to the hot corner.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Idle Friday

Edman isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Edman will move to the bench to begin Friday's contest after going 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win. While he sits, Alex Freeland will start at the keystone and bat ninth.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: In updated lineup Thursday

Edman is slotted as starting at second base and batting ninth in Thursday's updated lineup versus the Padres, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. The initial lineup card for the Dodgers had Alex Freeland starting at second and batting ninth. It appears the lineup with Edman starting was put out as a correction and not a late scratch for Freeland.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Getting rest Thursday

Edman isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres, Jack Harris of the California Post reports. Edman will get a breather Thursday after going 4-for-8 with a homer, four RBI and two runs scored during Los Angeles' last series against the A's. Alex Freeland will start at second base and bat ninth while Edman sits.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Homers in four-hit game

Edman went 4-for-5 with a three-run home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Athletics. Edman had an excellent performance that included his first homer of the season in the third inning. He has logged multiple hits in five of 11 games since he made his season debut June 17 versus the Rays. The utility man is batting .395 with eight RBI, three runs scored, two doubles and one triple over 42 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Sitting Monday

Edman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Athletics, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. After starting in left field in each of the Dodgers' three games over the weekend, Edman will shift to the bench Monday with Teoscar Hernandez (hamstring) occupying the position in his return from the 10-day injured list. Though the presence of Hernandez will likely limit Edman's opportunities in the outfield moving forward, the 31-year-old utility player could displace Alex Freeland as the Dodgers' primary option at second base. Neither Edman nor Freeland will cover the keystone Monday, however, as Miguel Rojas will draw the start.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Resting up Wednesday

Edman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins. Since being activated from the 60-day injured list June 16, Edman has gotten off to a nice start at the plate, going 8-for-22 with a 2:4 BB:K through his first six games. The Dodgers are being mindful of not overextending Edman following a lengthy absence, so he'll continued to have his workload managed before he moves into more of a full-time role. After Edman started the previous two nights, he'll get a chance to rest Wednesday while Alex Freeland takes his spot in the lineup at second base.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Taking seat Sunday

Edman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles. Edman will hit the bench after he started each of the past three games -- two at third base, one in left field -- while going a collective 5-for-12 with a double and a walk. His clearest path to regular playing time could eventually come at second base, where Alex Freeland (.649 OPS over 174 plate appearances this season) has been serving as the Dodgers' primary option since being called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City on May 27.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Three hits Friday

Edman went 3-for-5 with a double in Friday's 6-5 win over the Orioles. This was Edman's second game in the lineup since he recovered from ankle surgery he underwent in November. The utility man was held hitless Wednesday in his season debut. He got the start in left field and played the full game Friday, which is a positive sign. The Dodgers will likely take it slow in building up his workload, especially since the team has few weak spots in the lineup. Left field could be his best path to playing time, at least until Teoscar Hernandez (hamstring) returns, as the combination of Ryan Ward and Alex Call isn't particularly exciting. When the Dodgers are healthy, Edman is likely to overtake Alex Freeland for the starting job at second base.

  • Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Hitless in return

Edman went 0-for-3 with a walk in Wednesday's 5-4 win against Tampa Bay. Edman made his season debut following a long absence while recovering from last November's ankle surgery. He was unable to get a hit in first game back, though the super-utility man did draw a fourth-inning walk. Edman batted leadoff and played third base Wednesday, but neither of those situations are likely to stick. Shohei Ohtani got the day off as a hitter and is likely to return to the top of the batting order for Los Angeles' next game, and Max Muncy -- who pinch hit for Edman in the seventh frame Wednesday -- is the Dodgers' primary third baseman. Edman should still see ample playing time, with much of it coming at second base and in the outfield.
