After going 2-for-8 with his 14th home run of the season, a walk and three RBI while starting behind the plate in the first two games of the series, Kelly will get a breather for the finale. Reese McGuire will handle catching duties for the Cubs.

Allen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

As anticipated, Atlanta's waiver pickup of Ha-Seong Kim earlier in the week has resulted in Allen losing hold of his everyday role at shortstop. Kim will occupy the position for the second game in a row and will likely get an extended evaluation in September, leaving Allen to settle for limited playing time in a utility role. Allen offers strong defense at shortstop, but with a measly .534 OPS over 405 plate appearances on the season, he hasn't hit well enough to profile as a viable everyday player.

Chourio (hamstring) will serve as the Brewers' designated hitter and bat second Wednesday against the Phillies.

Chourio was originally slated to sit out Wednesday's contest after reporting cramping in his right hamstring following Monday's game. However, he'll now join the starting nine to replace Christian Yelich (back), who was scratched from the lineup shortly before first pitch. Chourio has performed well in three games since returning from the injured list, going 6-for-12 at the plate while driving in two RBI and scoring four runs.

Yelich was scratched from the lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Phillies due to lower-back soreness.

Yelich has dealt with back problems throughout his career, though Wednesday marks the first time he's had an issue since undergoing season-ending surgery on his back last August. He'll aim to return to the starting nine for Thursday's series finale; meanwhile, Jackson Chourio -- originally slated for a day off while managing a hamstring cramp -- will step in as Milwaukee's designated hitter and bat second.

Stott is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

The left-handed-hitting Stott will retreat to the bench Wednesday while the Brewers send southpaw Jose Quintana to the hill. Edmundo Sosa will replace Stott at second base and will bat eighth.

Kepler is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

The left-handed-hitting Kepler will hit the bench for the third time in four games, with two absences coming against southpaws. Though he should continue to play frequently versus righties, Kepler will occasionally find himself as the odd man out of the lineup with the Phillies having begun to open up more playing time for Harrison Bader as part of a four-man rotation in the outfield.

The Cubs are promoting Wiggins from Double-A Knoxville to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

The 23-year-old is one of the organization's top prospects and will move up to the highest level of the minors after posting a 1.93 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 52:17 K:BB over 42 innings (10 starts) at Double-A. Wiggins opened the 2025 campaign with High-A South Bend and is now just one step away from the majors, though he isn't likely to make his MLB debut until 2026.

Chapman received a one-game suspension from Major League Baseball on Wednesday for pushing Kyle Freeland during Tuesday's game against the Rockies, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Chapman is appealing the suspension.

The third baseman was ejected from Tuesday's contest for his role in the benches-clearing brawl that took place in the first inning, and he'll now also receive a suspension on top of that. Chapman will be available to play until a verdict is reached on his appeal.

Smith isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

After extending his hitting streak to five games with a pair of singles Tuesday, Smith will grab a seat on the bench Wednesday with Rafael Devers covering first base and Wilmer Flores serving as the Giants' designated hitter.

Lee is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Lee will be on the bench for the beginning of Wednesday's game while the hot-hitting Drew Gilbert gets the nod in center field in his stead. Lee has logged at least one hit in seven of his last eight games, going 9-for-31 (.290 average) with an RBI over that span.
