  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Records fourth straight victory

Ray (8-6) earned the win over Colorado on Saturday, completing six innings and allowing three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four batters. All of the runs Ray surrendered came on a Cole Carrigg three-run homer in the first inning. The lefty hurler bounced back nicely after that rough first frame, retiring 14 of the final 18 batters he faced. Ray registered his fourth consecutive win and quality start, though this was his least effective outing during that stretch. He now has a 3.45 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 86:46 K:BB over 101.2 innings spanning 18 appearances this year.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Dominant again Sunday

Ray (7-6) allowed one unearned run on four hits and a walk while striking out two over eight innings to earn the win over Atlanta on Sunday. Ray has not allowed an earned run in his last three games, giving up just two unearned runs on eight hits and seven walks over his last 22.1 innings. He's won all three of those outings, and he gave up just seven runs (five earned) across 33 innings in June. For the season, the southpaw has a 3.39 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 82:43 K:BB across 95.2 innings through 17 appearances (16 starts). Ray's next outing is projected to be on the road in Colorado. He gave up three runs (one earned) over just four innings May 31 at Coors Field.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Deals for eight innings in win

Ray (6-6) allowed one unearned run on two hits and four walks while striking out six over eight innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Athletics. Ray had his longest start of the season despite the four walks, getting by on 102 pitches (59 strikes) before Caleb Kilian worked the ninth inning. This was a strong showing for Ray, who has allowed just six runs (five earned) over 25 innings across his four games in June. He had some struggles in late May after a strong start to the season, but Ray has mostly bounced back. For the year, he has a 3.70 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 80:42 K:BB through 87.2 innings over 16 outings (15 starts). The southpaw's next start is expected to come at home versus Atlanta this weekend. He tossed 6.1 scoreless innings of relief in the resumption of a suspended game versus Atlanta last week, but it's still a tough matchup.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Fans eight in win

Ray (5-6) took the win in the resumption of Tuesday's game against Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out eight across 6.1 scoreless innings in a 7-2 victory. Adrian Houser started the contest Tuesday before it was suspended by inclement weather and resumed Wednesday. Ray entered in the second inning with a 3-2 lead and never let it go, recording his second win in his last three appearances. The 34-year-old southpaw struck out a season-high eight batters. He now owns a 4.07 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 74:38 K:BB across 79.2 innings in 15 outings.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Starting resumed suspended game

Ray will be the Giants' first pitcher in the resumption of Tuesday's suspended game Wednesday in Atlanta, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. Ray had been slated to start Wednesday's regularly scheduled contest, but he will instead take the ball in the bottom of the second inning as the two teams resume Tuesday's game that was suspended by inclement weather. The Giants are clinging to a 3-2 lead in the contest, so Ray will have a better chance to pick up a victory. San Francisco will go with a bullpen game in the nightcap.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Escapes with no-decision

Ray didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 11-10 win over the Nationals, giving up five runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out three without walking a batter. A two-run homer by James Wood in the third inning was the only extra-base hit off Ray, but the veteran lefty unraveled in the top of the sixth as Washington strung together five two-out singles, with three steals mixed in. Ray was taken off the hook for his seventh loss of the year when the Giants erased an eight-run deficit over the final two frames, however. It's the third time in his last five outings that he's been tagged for at least four runs, a stretch in which he's been saddled with a 7.43 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and 17:16 K:BB in 23 innings. Ray could have a hard time righting the ship in his next start, which is set to come on the road next week in Atlanta.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Blanks Cubs for fourth win

Ray (4-6) picked up the win Friday, allowing two hits and five walks over five scoreless innings in an 18-3 rout of the Cubs. He struck out four. The veteran lefty had a little trouble finding the plate, tossing just 57 of 97 pitches for strikes, but Chicago hitters managed only two singles off Ray when he did get the ball into the zone, and his offense gave him a month's worth of run support in one afternoon. It's the first time since May 8 that Ray has lasted at least five innings in a start, and he'll take a 4.12 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 63:36 K:BB over 67.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Nationals.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Lasts four innings Sunday

Ray did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over four innings against the Rockies. He struck out six. Ray failed to qualify for the win after being pulled at 96 pitches (59 strikes). The southpaw was charged with two unearned runs in the fourth inning, with both runs scoring following his own throwing error. After a strong start to the season, he struggled in May, posting a 6.44 ERA and 1.70 WHIP across 29.1 innings (six starts) during the month. With overall marks of a 3-6 record with a 4.45 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 59:31 K:BB across 62.2 innings (12 starts), Ray will look to get back in the win column in his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Friday against the Cubs.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Gets no help in loss

Ray (3-5) allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over 4.2 innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Dodgers. Ray was tagged for back-to-back solo home runs by Santiago Espinal and Mookie Betts in the third inning. The Giants' offense didn't get much of anything going against Shohei Ohtani, leaving Ray to fend for himself in this loss, which was his shortest start of the season. He's still yet to allow more than three earned runs in any outing. Ray has a 3.04 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 49:20 K:BB through 50.1 innings over nine starts. He's projected for a road start in Arizona his next time out.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Collects third win

Ray (3-4) allowed one run on four hits and four walks while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win over the Pirates on Friday. Ray earned his fourth quality start of the season with this performance. The lone blemish was a Marcell Ozuna solo home run in the second inning. Ray's not reinventing the wheel at this point in his career -- he racks up steady strikeout numbers while also walking a lot of batters, as he's issued at least three free passes in five of his eight starts this year. So far, he's been good enough to limit the damage, posting a 2.76 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 47:18 K:BB through 45.2 innings. His next start is lined up to be on the road versus the Dodgers.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Takes loss despite quality start

Ray (2-4) took the loss Friday against the Rays, allowing three runs on four hits and no walks with five strikeouts across 6.1 innings. Ray was hurt by the long ball in this one, as he served up solo shots to Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero in the second and fourth innings. The veteran left-hander was, however, able to record his second start of the season without a free pass after he handed out a National League-high 73 walks last season. Ray has an excellent fastball-slider combination and has pitched great overall this season. The Giants have been shut out in three of his seven starts, and they scored one run in another. Ray owns a 2.95 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB across 39.2 innings.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Settles for no-decision Saturday

Ray took a no-decision Saturday against the Marlins, allowing one run on four hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out four. The southpaw had a hard time finding his control, throwing only 55 of his 97 pitches for strikes, but still managed to scatter four singles across five frames of one-run ball. Although Ray has walked at least three batters in four of his past five starts, he's tossed at least five innings while yielding two runs or fewer in five of his six outings in 2026. Ray will bring a strong 2.70 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB over 33.1 innings into his next appearance, which is set come at pitcher-friendly Tropicana Field versus the Rays.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Takes loss despite quality start

Ray (2-3) took the loss Sunday against the Nationals, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out seven over six innings. Ray was sharp early, holding Washington scoreless through four innings before running into trouble in the fifth. An RBI double by Keibert Ruiz opened the scoring, and Curtis Mead followed later in the inning with a two-run homer. Despite the blemish, Ray still delivered a quality start, but San Francisco's offense again provided no support, leaving him stuck with another loss. The left-hander continues to pitch well, posting a 2.86 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 31:11 K:BB across 28.1 innings and will seek to continue his success in his next outing, where he's set to face Miami.

  • Nationals' Jorbit Vivas: On bench Sunday

Vivas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants. The left-handed hitter had started six of the Nationals' last seven games, seeing time at second base, third base and DH, but he'll hit the bench Sunday while southpaw Robbie Ray takes the hill for the Giants. With a .780 OPS through 54 plate appearances, Vivas has put himself in consideration for regular duty against right-handed pitching, but Jose Tena (.811 OPS in 36 plate appearances) is also competing for the same playing time.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Fans seven in victory

Ray (1-1) earned the win over the Mets on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings. Ray gave up a run in each of the first and second frames, but he settled down from there and ended his outing by retiring seven of the final eight batters he faced. The left-hander wasn't all that efficient -- he needed 96 pitches to complete 5.1 innings -- but looked dominant at times, racking up a hefty 19 swings-and-misses and seven punchouts. Ray has been solid to begin the campaign, allowing four runs while posting an 11:3 K:BB over his first 10.2 innings across two starts.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Fans eight in spring win

Ray picked up the win in Sunday's 7-1 Cactus League victory over the Brewers, striking out eight over five perfect innings. Ray earned his first win in his fifth Cactus League start, tossing 39 of his 64 pitches for strikes while cruising through five perfect innings. The veteran southpaw has allowed two runs on four hits and eight walks while striking out 15 across 14.2 innings this spring as he gears up for his 13th big-league campaign. Ray logged 32 starts last season, finishing with a 3.65 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 9.2 K/9 across 182.1 innings, though he struggled with control, posting a 3.6 BB/9.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Will not make another start

Ray is no longer scheduled to start Wednesday against the Cardinals and appears unlikely to pitch again this season, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The Giants were officially eliminated from playoff contention Tuesday, and Ray has already logged 182.1 innings in 2025 after missing most of the previous two seasons with injury, so he'll shut things down a little early. The 33-year-old finishes with a 3.65 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 186:73 K:BB covering 32 starts. JT Brubaker will start for the Giants on Wednesday.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Done in by long ball

Ray (11-8) allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings to take the loss Friday versus the Dodgers. Ray had gone four starts in a row without allowing a home run, but that stretch of keeping the ball down came to a jarring halt Friday. He allowed a solo home run to Miguel Rojas in the second inning, followed by back-to-back blasts by Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts in the fifth, which collectively accounted for the rest of the runs on Ray's line. This was the fourth time in five starts that Ray fell short of the five-inning mark. He's now at a 3.65 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 186:73 K:BB through 182.1 innings over 32 starts this season. The southpaw's last start of the season is projected to be at home versus the Cardinals next week.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Struggles with command vs. Dodgers

Ray (11-7) took the loss against the Dodgers on Sunday, surrendering five runs on six hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out five. Ray opened with a flourish, striking out Shohei Ohtani on a 96 mph fastball to begin a clean first inning, but he quickly found himself laboring against a patient Los Angeles lineup. The southpaw issued four walks and needed 98 pitches (58 strikes) to get through just four frames, with his night ending in the fifth after giving up a leadoff walk to Mookie Betts followed by back-to-back hits from Teoscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman. Over his last seven outings, the 33-year-old has struggled to a 6.06 ERA and 28:12 K:BB across 35.2 innings, and he'll look to steady things in his next scheduled start, a rematch against the Dodgers.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Picks up 11th win

Ray (11-6) allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Ray allowed fewer than three runs for the first time in his last six starts, and he got back to the five-inning mark for the first time since Aug. 24 versus the Brewers. The southpaw gave up both runs in the fifth frame, but the Giants were able to keep their lead the rest of the way. The recent shaky stretch has done a bit of damage to Ray's overall numbers, which are now at a 3.32 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 176:67 K:BB through 173.2 innings across 30 starts. He's projected to make his next start early next week in a rematch with the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
