  • Padres' Robbie Ray: Goes four innings Wednesday

Ray did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out four. Ray's now given up six runs in nine innings through his first two starts with San Diego after posting a 1.09 ERA over his final eight outings (49.1 innings) with the Giants before the trade deadline. Overall, Ray is 10-7 on the season with a 3.28 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 113:65 K:BB across 131.2 innings. He'll look to turn things around in his next start, tentatively slated to come next week on the road against the Mets.

  • Padres' Robbie Ray: Struggles in Padres debut

Ray (10-7) allowed four runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out two over five innings in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Astros. He also tossed two wild pitches. Ray's first start with San Diego didn't go according to plan. The veteran left-hander escaped a bases-loaded jam in the first inning but surrendered a solo homer to Cam Smith in the second, allowed two more runs in the third and another run in the fourth. Ray threw just 51 of 92 pitches for strikes and issued at least five walks for the third time in 2026 while recording only two strikeouts -- his second-lowest output of the season. The loss snapped a run of 12 straight starts in which Ray was undefeated -- he went 7-0 with a 2.12 ERA in that span -- and as a result, his ERA for the season rose to 3.24. Ray's next start is projected to come at home against the Brewers.

  • Padres' Robbie Ray: Team debut coming Friday

Ray is listed as the Padres' probable pitcher for Friday's game against the Astros in Houston. Ray will be taking the hill on seven days' rest as he makes his debut for the Padres, who acquired him Monday in a deal that sent right-hander Miguel Mendez and shortstop Joniel Hernandez to the Giants. The 34-year-old southpaw was one of two additions to the rotation at the deadline, as the Padres also brought aboard Casey Mize from the Tigers. Ray will look to aid the Friars' playoff push over the next seven and a half weeks before heading into free agency this winter.

  • Padres' Robbie Ray: On move to San Diego

The Padres acquired Ray from the Giants on Monday in exchange for right-hander Miguel Mendez and shortstop Joniel Hernandez, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The addition of Ray provides a much-needed upgrade to the San Diego rotation, which has struggled throughout the season to get quality results from any of its starters beyond ace Michael King. Though the 3.08 ERA that Ray has posted over 122.2 innings in 2026 hasn't been supported by most of his underlying metrics (4.76 SIERA, 4.43 xERA, 9.8 K-BB%), the veteran southpaw has performed better overall since the beginning of June. Over his final 10 appearances (nine starts) with the Giants, Ray went 7-0 with a 1.65 ERA (3.53 xERA) and 1.17 WHIP. Per Pavlovic, the Giants and Padres are expected to split coverage of the approximately $8 million remaining on Ray's contract.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Collects 10th victory

Ray (10-6) earned the win over San Diego on Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out six batters over six innings. Ray delivered a first-pitch strike to 15 of the 22 batters he faced and notched 10 whiffs. He recorded a quality start on just 86 pitches and kept the ball in the park for a fourth straight start. Ray had a 3-6 record at the end of May, but since then he's reeled off seven consecutive wins, compiling an elite 1.65 ERA over 60 innings during that span. The veteran lefty is a prime candidate to be traded ahead of Monday's deadline, but if he remains with San Francisco, he's lined up to make his next start on the road against the Rangers.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Blanks Halos for ninth win

Ray (9-6) picked up the win Saturday, allowing six hits and two walks over six scoreless innings in a 9-2 victory over the Angels. He struck out five. The veteran southpaw tossed 54 of 80 pitches for strikes en route to his eighth quality start of the season. Ray could be on the move at the trade deadline, and he's doing what he can to improve the return the Giants might get for him -- over his last seven starts he's held the opposition to one earned run or fewer six times, posting a 1.04 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 35:20 K:BB in 43.1 innings while serving up just one home run. Ray will look to stay locked in during his next outing, which currently lines up to come on the road next week in San Diego.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Takes no-decision Sunday

Ray allowed three runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out six over four-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Sunday. Ray was inefficient, exiting the game at 86 pitches (53 strikes). He had walked a total of 14 batters over 27 innings across his previous four starts, and he's gone six outings without allowing more than three runs. For the season, the southpaw is at a 3.33 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 96:54 K:BB through 110.2 innings over 20 games (19 starts). He's projected to make his next start at home in a favorable matchup versus the Angels.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Shaky command in no-decision

Ray allowed one run on four hits and six walks while striking out four over five-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Friday. Even by his standards, this was a poor showing in the command department for Ray, who threw just 53 of 100 pitches for strikes. It snapped his four-game winning streak, but he still hasn't allowed more than three runs in each of his last five outings. For the season, Ray is at a 3.38 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 90:52 K:BB through 106.2 innings over 19 games (18 starts). He's done well with run prevention this season considering his 4.4 BB/9 is second-worst in the majors, better than only Joey Cantillo.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Records fourth straight victory

Ray (8-6) earned the win over Colorado on Saturday, completing six innings and allowing three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four batters. All of the runs Ray surrendered came on a Cole Carrigg three-run homer in the first inning. The lefty hurler bounced back nicely after that rough first frame, retiring 14 of the final 18 batters he faced. Ray registered his fourth consecutive win and quality start, though this was his least effective outing during that stretch. He now has a 3.45 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 86:46 K:BB over 101.2 innings spanning 18 appearances this year.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Dominant again Sunday

Ray (7-6) allowed one unearned run on four hits and a walk while striking out two over eight innings to earn the win over Atlanta on Sunday. Ray has not allowed an earned run in his last three games, giving up just two unearned runs on eight hits and seven walks over his last 22.1 innings. He's won all three of those outings, and he gave up just seven runs (five earned) across 33 innings in June. For the season, the southpaw has a 3.39 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 82:43 K:BB across 95.2 innings through 17 appearances (16 starts). Ray's next outing is projected to be on the road in Colorado. He gave up three runs (one earned) over just four innings May 31 at Coors Field.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Fans eight in win

Ray (5-6) took the win in the resumption of Tuesday's game against Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out eight across 6.1 scoreless innings in a 7-2 victory. Adrian Houser started the contest Tuesday before it was suspended by inclement weather and resumed Wednesday. Ray entered in the second inning with a 3-2 lead and never let it go, recording his second win in his last three appearances. The 34-year-old southpaw struck out a season-high eight batters. He now owns a 4.07 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 74:38 K:BB across 79.2 innings in 15 outings.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Starting resumed suspended game

Ray will be the Giants' first pitcher in the resumption of Tuesday's suspended game Wednesday in Atlanta, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. Ray had been slated to start Wednesday's regularly scheduled contest, but he will instead take the ball in the bottom of the second inning as the two teams resume Tuesday's game that was suspended by inclement weather. The Giants are clinging to a 3-2 lead in the contest, so Ray will have a better chance to pick up a victory. San Francisco will go with a bullpen game in the nightcap.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Escapes with no-decision

Ray didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 11-10 win over the Nationals, giving up five runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out three without walking a batter. A two-run homer by James Wood in the third inning was the only extra-base hit off Ray, but the veteran lefty unraveled in the top of the sixth as Washington strung together five two-out singles, with three steals mixed in. Ray was taken off the hook for his seventh loss of the year when the Giants erased an eight-run deficit over the final two frames, however. It's the third time in his last five outings that he's been tagged for at least four runs, a stretch in which he's been saddled with a 7.43 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and 17:16 K:BB in 23 innings. Ray could have a hard time righting the ship in his next start, which is set to come on the road next week in Atlanta.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Blanks Cubs for fourth win

Ray (4-6) picked up the win Friday, allowing two hits and five walks over five scoreless innings in an 18-3 rout of the Cubs. He struck out four. The veteran lefty had a little trouble finding the plate, tossing just 57 of 97 pitches for strikes, but Chicago hitters managed only two singles off Ray when he did get the ball into the zone, and his offense gave him a month's worth of run support in one afternoon. It's the first time since May 8 that Ray has lasted at least five innings in a start, and he'll take a 4.12 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 63:36 K:BB over 67.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Nationals.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Lasts four innings Sunday

Ray did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over four innings against the Rockies. He struck out six. Ray failed to qualify for the win after being pulled at 96 pitches (59 strikes). The southpaw was charged with two unearned runs in the fourth inning, with both runs scoring following his own throwing error. After a strong start to the season, he struggled in May, posting a 6.44 ERA and 1.70 WHIP across 29.1 innings (six starts) during the month. With overall marks of a 3-6 record with a 4.45 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 59:31 K:BB across 62.2 innings (12 starts), Ray will look to get back in the win column in his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Friday against the Cubs.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Gets no help in loss

Ray (3-5) allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over 4.2 innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Dodgers. Ray was tagged for back-to-back solo home runs by Santiago Espinal and Mookie Betts in the third inning. The Giants' offense didn't get much of anything going against Shohei Ohtani, leaving Ray to fend for himself in this loss, which was his shortest start of the season. He's still yet to allow more than three earned runs in any outing. Ray has a 3.04 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 49:20 K:BB through 50.1 innings over nine starts. He's projected for a road start in Arizona his next time out.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Collects third win

Ray (3-4) allowed one run on four hits and four walks while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win over the Pirates on Friday. Ray earned his fourth quality start of the season with this performance. The lone blemish was a Marcell Ozuna solo home run in the second inning. Ray's not reinventing the wheel at this point in his career -- he racks up steady strikeout numbers while also walking a lot of batters, as he's issued at least three free passes in five of his eight starts this year. So far, he's been good enough to limit the damage, posting a 2.76 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 47:18 K:BB through 45.2 innings. His next start is lined up to be on the road versus the Dodgers.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Takes loss despite quality start

Ray (2-4) took the loss Friday against the Rays, allowing three runs on four hits and no walks with five strikeouts across 6.1 innings. Ray was hurt by the long ball in this one, as he served up solo shots to Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero in the second and fourth innings. The veteran left-hander was, however, able to record his second start of the season without a free pass after he handed out a National League-high 73 walks last season. Ray has an excellent fastball-slider combination and has pitched great overall this season. The Giants have been shut out in three of his seven starts, and they scored one run in another. Ray owns a 2.95 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB across 39.2 innings.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Settles for no-decision Saturday

Ray took a no-decision Saturday against the Marlins, allowing one run on four hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out four. The southpaw had a hard time finding his control, throwing only 55 of his 97 pitches for strikes, but still managed to scatter four singles across five frames of one-run ball. Although Ray has walked at least three batters in four of his past five starts, he's tossed at least five innings while yielding two runs or fewer in five of his six outings in 2026. Ray will bring a strong 2.70 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB over 33.1 innings into his next appearance, which is set come at pitcher-friendly Tropicana Field versus the Rays.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Takes loss despite quality start

Ray (2-3) took the loss Sunday against the Nationals, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out seven over six innings. Ray was sharp early, holding Washington scoreless through four innings before running into trouble in the fifth. An RBI double by Keibert Ruiz opened the scoring, and Curtis Mead followed later in the inning with a two-run homer. Despite the blemish, Ray still delivered a quality start, but San Francisco's offense again provided no support, leaving him stuck with another loss. The left-hander continues to pitch well, posting a 2.86 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 31:11 K:BB across 28.1 innings and will seek to continue his success in his next outing, where he's set to face Miami.
