Seager (quad) could serve as the designated hitter Monday against the Padres, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Seager was held out of Sunday's win against the Diamondbacks, but manager Dave Roberts said after the game that he received treatment for his quad issue. If Seager shifts to the designated hitter role while he recovers, Chris Taylor would be the most likely candidate to see time at shortstop.

Mondesi was removed from Sunday's game against the White Sox after the fourth inning with a quadriceps contusion, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

According to Lewis, the Royals are labeling Mondesi's removal as precautionary after he fouled a pitch off his lower leg during his lone at-bat in the second inning. Mondesi ended up grounding out in the at-bat and went on to play the next two innings in the field, but the Royals decided to err on the side of caution by pulling him out of the contest early. Nicky Lopez (shin) came off the bench to replace Mondesi, who can be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener with the Cubs.

Correa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

According to Rome, manager Dusty Baker said that Correa is just getting a maintenance day after he started in each of the Astros' first eight games. Before going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in Saturday's 5-4 loss, Correa had put together a seven-game hitting streak to begin the campaign. Jack Mayfield will enter the lineup in place of Correa, starting at shortstop and batting eighth.

Seager won't be in the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks due to a left quadriceps injury, Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

It's unclear how long Seager has been battling the injury, but it's apparently unrelated to the foul ball he took to the calf recently, per Ken Gurnick of MLB.com. Seager has been on a tear to begin the season, slugging three home runs and three doubles en route to posting a 1.119 OPS in nine games. It doesn't appear to be a serious injury, but the team is likely to remain cautious this early in the season. Chris Taylor is the probable candidate to fill in at shortstop for the Dodgers.

Mondesi will start at shortstop and bat seventh Sunday against the White Sox.

Mondesi hit either second or third in the Royals' first five games of the season, but he's since shifted down in the lineup, as he'll bat sixth or lower in the order for the fourth time in five days Sunday. The change hasn't had much of a negative effect thus far for Mondesi, who has reached base in each of his past four starts while going 7-for-17 with three runs, two extra-base hits and a stolen base.

Velazquez will start at shortstop and bat eighth Sunday against the Rays.

He'll crack the starting nine for the third day in a row while top shortstop Jose Iglesias works through a quadriceps injury. The Orioles are labeling Iglesias as day-to-day for now, so Velazquez's run of regular starts could soon come to an end. The 26-year-old is still looking for his first hit of 2020 after having gone 0-for-8 with two strikeouts while appearing in five games to date.

Ahmed returned to the lineup Saturday and went 0-for-3 in an 11-2 loss to the Dodgers.

Ahmed was given a night off to reboot Friday after going 2-for-24 over the first seven games. He's had an impact bat as a shortstop the last two seasons, but that bat's been nowhere to be found amid the team's early offensive slump. Ahmed is slashing .071/.161/.071 with one run and zero RBI.

Baez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored, a walk and two strikeouts in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Pirates.

Baez got off to a slow start this season, but he has been seeing the ball better of late -- the slugging infielder has recorded hits in four of his last five games, going 6-for-20 with three homers, two doubles and five RBI during that stretch.

Owings went 3-for-4 with an RBI single, a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Padres.

Owings scored on an error by Padres starter Joey Lucchesi in the second inning after getting aboard on a single. He singled and stole second in the third before capping off the three-hit performance by plating Matt Kemp in the fifth. This was just Owings' second start of the season and the first time he was able to record a hit. The 28-year-old hit just .139 with five steals and three homers in 67 games between the Red Sox and Royals last season.

Story went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Padres.

Story's fourth-inning homer stretched the Rockies' lead to 5-1 at the time. The shortstop has hit safely in six straight games. He's up to four homers, five RBI, eight runs scored and two stolen bases in seven games. He's likely to continue to put up big numbers in the top half of the Rockies' batting order.
