SIerra was outrighted off the 40-man roster Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Sierra has struggled to the tune of a 7.16 ERA and .305 opponent batting average at High-A Rancho Cucamonga this year, but it's still a bit surprising to see the highly-touted foreign prospect suddenly outrighted. Given his six-year, $30 million contract, Sierra will likely stay within the organization.

Adleman (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment Monday, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports.

He's expected to toss two innings for the Reds' rookie-level club in Arizona. The right-hander has been out since May with the oblique injury, so he'll likely require at least two or three rehab starts in the minors before a DL activation is considered.

Estevez will remain the closer in Colorado following the activation of Jake McGee, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Estevez has allowed an earned run in three of his last four appearances, resulting in two losses and one blown save being charged. Given the struggles, it wouldn't be surprising to see him removed from ninth-inning duties, but it appears the Rockies will wait and ease McGee back into action instead. Estevez will still cling on to some fantasy utility in the short term, but as long as McGee can return to his pre-injury form, look for Estevez to eventually be usurped as closer.

Hudson will be placed on the bereavement list Tuesday, MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports.

Hudson will leave the team temporarily to attend to a family matter, but is expected to return to the Arizona bullpen Friday. Until he returns, Tyler Clippard or Randall Delgado seem like the most fitting candidates for holds in high-leverage situations.

Nelson (5-7) gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks over six innings in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Cardinals. He struck out four.

The 27-year-old right-hander pitched well for the third straight start, but came away with the loss after failing to receive any run support. He didn't give up a homer for the third consecutive appearance, and despite only surrendering three earned runs over his last 16 frames, he's picked up two no-decisions and Saturday's loss over that span. Nelson will once again try for his sixth victory against the Cardinals next Friday.

Iglesias is hoping to eventually earn the closer job in Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. "I like coming in from the bullpen," Iglesias said. "I want to be the closer."

A shoulder injury put Iglesias on the shelf for a good chunk of the season's first half, but he said recently that the shoulder feels great and that he believes the bullpen is where he belongs long term. While Iglesias showed flashes of brilliance in the rotation last season, he was losing velocity as he worked deeper into starts earlier this year and the Reds will have to decide in the offseason if they think the right-hander can hold up to 200-inning workloads annually. Iglesias' velocity has been up in his recent relief appearances -- he's allowed just three hits over 7.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen -- but Tony Cingrani has done little of late to loosen his grip on the closer role.

Miller (2-8) struggled again Friday, allowing eight hits and five earned runs over six innings to pick up a loss against the Giants. He struck out five and walked two.

The nightmare season continues for Miller, who now has a 6.85 ERA. He looked good in his return from the DL on June 20, allowing just one run, but he's been shelled for 12 runs over 12 innings in his last two starts. He'll get the ball again on Wednesday against the Padres.

Cordero (shoulder) began a rehab assignment Friday and allowed one run on one hit in two-thirds of an inning for the Gulf Coast League Phillies. He struck out two and walked two.

Cordero has been on the shelf all season with a shoulder injury. He will likely end up at Double-A Reading once his rehab is over.

Manager Pete Mackanin said he didn't use Neris on Friday because he wanted to give him some additional rest, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.

Neris pitched three days in a row during the Phillies' recent series in Arizona and leads the majors with 42 appearances. He has been seen wearing a compression sleeve on his right arm while sitting in the bullpen. He said that is to help keep his arm warm now that a jacket is not needed and not because of any injury.

Gomez notched his 22nd save with a clean ninth inning in Friday's 4-3 victory over the Royals.

The 28-year-old now has three straight scoreless appearances, and has also converted three consecutive save opportunities. Gomez needed only 13 pitches to dispose of Alcides Escobar, Cheslor Cuthbert and the pinch-hitting Christian Colon, and has lowered his ERA in each of his last four trips to the mound.
