Cordero (shoulder) began a rehab assignment Friday and allowed one run on one hit in two-thirds of an inning for the Gulf Coast League Phillies. He struck out two and walked two.

Cordero has been on the shelf all season with a shoulder injury. He will likely end up at Double-A Reading once his rehab is over.

Manager Pete Mackanin said he didn't use Neris on Friday because he wanted to give him some additional rest, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.

Neris pitched three days in a row during the Phillies' recent series in Arizona and leads the majors with 42 appearances. He has been seen wearing a compression sleeve on his right arm while sitting in the bullpen. He said that is to help keep his arm warm now that a jacket is not needed and not because of any injury.

Gomez notched his 22nd save with a clean ninth inning in Friday's 4-3 victory over the Royals.

The 28-year-old now has three straight scoreless appearances, and has also converted three consecutive save opportunities. Gomez needed only 13 pitches to dispose of Alcides Escobar, Cheslor Cuthbert and the pinch-hitting Christian Colon, and has lowered his ERA in each of his last four trips to the mound.

De La Rosa (elbow) says that he is "a couple of weeks away" from throwing a bullpen, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

De La Rosa played catch for the first time Monday, and tossed the ball around from 75 feet Friday. Even though he is a ways away from throwing a bullpen session, he wants to play catch at 90 feet a couple of times before moving on to 120 feet. After he achieves each of those distances, he would like to throw a bullpen on the flat ground before attempting a bullpen session.

Rodney is expected to be Miami's set up man, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

With A.J. Ramos handling closing duties effectively (24 saves, 1.74 ERA) Rodney will find his role as the eighth inning man in Miami's bullpen. However, when Ramos is unavailable, Rodney would presumably be next in line for save opportunities given he only gave up one earned run over 28.2, largely end of the game, innings with San Diego this season. With Rodney's acquisition, the Marlins now have two sub-two ERA closers, giving them one of the most formidable bullpens in the National League.

Ellington was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Friday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Although Ellington was extremely effective during his 10-game stint with the Marlins, notching a .79 ERA to go with a 1.15 ERA, the Marlins needed to clear a spot on the roster for Friday's starter, Justin Nicolino. Ellington's strong showing with the big league club ought to earn him a call back up to the Marlins before too long, but for now, he'll work out of the bullpen at Triple-A.

Burgos was activated off the 7-day DL on Friday, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.

Burgos will now head to Single-A Great Lakes following a DL stint that lasted three weeks. The 25-year-old made 12 appearances between High-A Rancho Cucamonga and Double-A Tulsa before going down with an injury, posting a 4.19 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 19.1 innings.

De Leon went five strong innings Thursday for Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out six.

Injuries have limited De Leon to just 23.1 innings this year, but he's slowly building up stamina and should be an option for the Dodgers' rotation in the second half. He's their best prospect still in the minors.

Rodney was traded to the Marlins on Thursday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Rodney has been terrific so far this season, going a perfect 17-for-17 in save opportunities while sporting a stellar 0.31 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 28.2 innings. The change of scenery could diminish some of his fantasy value, as he'll likely slot behind A.J. Ramos -- who has been nearly as effective in closing out games this season -- in the Miami bullpen, so Rodney may be reduced to more of a setup role in his new home. The Padres will receive minor leaguer Chris Paddack in return for the 39-year-old.

Hudson gave up four hits and four runs (two earned) while retiring just one batter in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

Hudson has hit a rough patch of late. He's allowed runs in three of his last four outings, giving up a total of eight earned runs in 1.2 innings. Hudson's ERA has climbed from 1.55 to 3.82 in the process. Despite the struggles, Hudson still figures to continue serving as the setup man to Brad Ziegler, and he should be a decent source of holds and strikeouts going forward.
