Edwards (thumb) will start at second base and bat fourth Saturday against the Giants.

Thumb soreness prevented Edwards from starting Friday's contest, but he seems to be feeling better after getting a day to rest. The 26-year-old has struggled since the beginning of June, slashing .192/.286/.192 with six RBI, two runs and three steals across 63 plate appearances.

Santos (adductor) allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk while striking out one over one inning during the ACL Giants' 7-4 loss to the ACL Athletics in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Friday.

Triple-A Sacramento placed Santos on its 7-day injured list May 26 with a right adductor strain, and he returned to action in Arizona. The 26-year-old right-hander gave up two singles while throwing 16 of his 20 pitches for strikes. He has spent most of the season at Triple-A, where he owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB across 14 innings in 12 appearances.

Schmitt went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins.

Schmitt singled in the second inning and added an RBI single in the sixth. The 27-year-old has recorded two hits in four straight games and is now batting .264 with six runs scored, six RBI, three home runs and two stolen bases over 74 plate appearances in June. Overall, he's slashing .286/.316/.509 with 39 RBI, 33 runs scored, 15 long balls and seven stolen bases across 285 plate appearances on the year.

Lee went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins.

Lee singled and stole second in the third inning before lining a double and coming around to score in the sixth. The 27-year-old outfielder has cooled off recently, batting .227 in 23 plate appearances over his last six games. However, he's still slashing .403/.415/.516 with 13 runs scored, seven RBI, four stolen bases and a home run across 65 plate appearances in June.

Cavalli (illness) will start Saturday's game against the Rays.

Cavalli was initially slated to start Friday's contest but was scratched before the game due to an illness. Now feeling better, the 27-year-old will start Saturday with the benefit of an extra day of rest. He'll be looking to turn things around after posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 15 innings across his first three starts of the month.

Garcia went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Rays.

The infielder slashed at a Griffin Jax sinker in the third inning and drove it the other way over the left-field fence. Garcia has 10 homers on the season, and three of them have come in the last nine games, a stretch in which he's batting .290 (9-for-31) with a double, six runs and eight RBI.

Abrams went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Rays.

The star shortstop took Griffin Jax deep in the second inning to give the Nationals an early lead that didn't last long in an eventual 5-2 loss. It was Abrams' 15th homer of the season and third over 15 games in June, but he's struggling to make a consistent impact this month, slashing .246/.270/.410 with three steals, eight RBI and 12 runs.

Yastrzemski went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Brewers.

The veteran outfielder took Abner Uribe deep in the seventh inning, providing Atlanta with a needed insurance run in an eventual 3-2 victory. The long ball was Yastrzemski's first since May 21, snapping a 20-game drought, and just his fourth of the season. While working primarily in a strong-side platoon role, he's managed just a .230/.318/.353 slash line over 211 plate appearances with 19 RBI and 27 runs on the year.

Svanson has yielded just one hit and has a 6:1 K:BB over eight scoreless innings since being recalled from Triple-A Memphis.

Svanson was optioned to Memphis in May after posting an 8.77 ERA and 26:15 K:BB over 25.2 innings. He tossed 5.2 scoreless frames at the Cardinals' top minor-league affiliate and has carried that momentum over in his return to the majors. Svanson has been used mostly in low-leverage situations since being recalled, but with the way he's pitched he could move back up in the bullpen hierarchy.

Gorman has yet to play in any games since being optioned last week, instead reporting to the Cardinals' spring training complex in Florida to rework his swing, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Gorman has slashed just .194/.279/.318 with a 32.3 percent strikeout rate this season, and he was in a 3-for-50 slump at the time of his demotion. The 26-year-old relocated to Florida at the start of the week and on Wednesday began working with hitting director Dalton Hurd and minor-league hitting coordinator Brock Hammit. Gorman's primary goal, according to president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom, is to "get his swing to a less steep place." As part of their player development overhaul, the Cardinals opened a revamped training facility this year in Florida, and Bloom believes "this is the most-equipped we've been as a staff and programs and facilities to be able to do something like this." Once the team feels he's ready, Gorman will eventually be assigned to Triple-A Memphis to test out his progress in games. Blaze Jordan has taken over as the Cardinals' everyday third baseman since Gorman's demotion and has played well, slashing .300/.323/.533 with one home run and seven RBI in eight games.
