The Marlins optioned Soriano to Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.

Soriano hasn't gotten off to a great start this season, giving up nine earned runs in just 11.2 innings while turning in a 10:5 K:BB. He'll now attempt to right the ship in the minors; meanwhile, Patrick Monteverde will come up from Jacksonville to fill the open spot in Miami's bullpen.

The Marlins selected Monteverde's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.

Monteverde has appeared in three games for Jacksonville this season, giving up five earned runs while striking out six batters and walking four across 9.1 innings. The 27-year-old southpaw will now join the big-league roster to replace George Soriano and provide Miami with a fresh bullpen arm capable of pitching multiple innings. Monteverde's first appearance with the Marlins will be his MLB debut.

Marsh (knee) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Miami, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Saturday will mark Marsh's third consecutive absence from the lineup since he tweaked his knee during Wednesday's contest. The team has previously said that they don't expect the 27-year-old to spend time on the injured list, though that may change if he's unable to play again soon. Johan Rojas will continue to fill in for Marsh in center field, batting ninth against Cal Quantrill.

Pressly (2-1) worked around a hit to toss a scoreless inning of relief and earn the win in Friday's 13-11 victory over the Diamondbacks.

The Cubs led 7-1 in this one, and then allowed 10 straight Arizona runs in the eighth inning before rallying back in the bottom of the frame for the wild win. While Pressly worked the ninth and preserved a two-run lead, the scorer credited him with a win rather than a save due to ineffective Chicago relief work in that eighth inning as the lead evaporated. The veteran righty had some hiccups earlier in the season, but he's now strung together seven straight scoreless appearances, and he's a perfect 4-for-4 in save opportunities.

Romero has just a 3:5 K:BB through his first 7.1 innings this season.

Romero boasted a 28.6 percent strikeout rate in his first full season with the Cardinals in 2023, but that number fell to 21 percent in 2024 and sits at just 10 percent through his first eight appearances in 2025. The southpaw still induces lots of grounders (54.5 percent this season) and remains manager Oliver Marmol's primary left-handed setup man ahead of closer Ryan Helsley, but Romero might see his responsibilities decrease if he can't rediscover some swing-and-miss.

Steer went 0-for-4 with a walk and four strikeouts in Friday's 8-3 win over Baltimore.

Steer's in the middle of a 1-for-23 stretch over the last six games, including 10 strikeouts (40 percent). He's limited to DH duties due to a sore shoulder, but Steer has begun throwing this week and could soon return to the field. That would give manager Terry Francona another option at first base while Christian Encarnacion-Strand (back) is on the 10-day injured list.

Diaz struck out one over a scoreless ninth inning in Friday's 8-3 win over the Orioles.

Diaz needed 15 pitches (nine strikes) to retire the heart of Baltimore's order. It wasn't a save situation nor was it a close game, but it was the former closer's first time pitching in the ninth inning since being activated off the injured list. Diaz was used in the sixth and seventh innings in his first two appearances. This could be the first tentative steps by manager Terry Francona to get Diaz back into the closer's role.

Siani went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Friday's loss to the Mets.

Siani was making just his fourth start of the season, although he has appeared in a total of 15 games because he often enters as a pinch runner and/or defensive replacement. It came down to the wire between Siani and Victor Scott for the Cardinals' center field job out of spring training, but Scott won it and has been an everyday player, starting 18 of 20 games. Siani could get optioned to Triple-A Memphis when Masyn Winn (back) returns from the 10-day injured list Tuesday if the club wants added protection at shortstop with Thomas Saggese.

Gurriel went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and an additional run scored in Friday's 13-11 loss to the Cubs.

Gurriel popped a three-run home run as part of a 10-run eighth inning, giving the Diamondbacks an 11-7 lead. It was the second home run in three games for Gurriel, who's batting .162/.190/.351 with four home runs and 13 RBI over 19 contests.

Suarez went 1-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Friday's 13-11 loss to the Cubs.

A quiet game for six innings busted out in the seventh and eighth innings, when the two teams combined to score 21 runs. Suarez hit a grand slam as part of Arizona's 10-run eighth inning. He'd gone 14 games (5-for-49) without a home run or RBI prior to Friday. Suarez is batting .153/.265/.444 with six homers and 15 RBI through 20 games.
