Yankees' Ernesto Martinez: Nabs NRI deal from Yankees
Martinez signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Martinez spent the entire 2025 campaign with the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate, where he slashed .255/.357/.388 with 40 RBI and 40 runs scored across 311 plate appearances. He'll have the opportunity to battle for a spot on the Yankees' Opening Day roster during the spring, but he's likely destined to begin the new season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Brewers' Ernesto Martinez: Back in action for Triple-A club
Martinez (thumb) rejoined the Triple-A Nashville lineup Thursday and has gone 1-for-10 with three walks, an RBI and a run over his last three games.
Though Nashville never placed him on the injured list, Martinez hadn't played since April 22 due to a right thumb injury before he made his return to action just over two weeks later. At 25, Martinez is an older prospect who is limited defensively to first base, but he's put himself on the radar for a potential late-season promotion to the Brewers by posting an .812 OPS while striking out at a manageable 18.9 percent clip over his 90 plate appearances thus far with Nashville.

Brewers' Ernesto Martinez: Missing in action
Martinez has not played for Triple-A Nashville since April 22 after injuring his right thumb on a slide, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
He is not on the 7-day injured list, although he has missed almost two weeks worth of action and McCalvy notes that his timetable is to be determined. While Martinez, who turns 26 in June and is in his first season at Triple-A, is older than the typical prospect, he was off to a great start for the Sounds, slashing .303/.390/.485 with three home runs, one steal and an 18.2 percent strikeout rate in 77 plate appearances.

Brewers' Ernesto Martinez: Re-signs as NRI
The Brewers re-signed Martinez to a minor-league contract Friday with an invitation to spring training, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Martinez, 25, slashed .284/.365/.466 with 13 home runs and 20 stolen bases over 110 games with Double-A Biloxi in 2024. He's primarily a first baseman but has also spent some time in center field. While Martinez will be in big-league camp with the Brewers, he will likely begin the 2025 season at Triple-A Nashville.
