Wade is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Wade had started in 15 of the Padres' previous 17 games, with most of his playing time coming in center field. He'll be ticketed for a backup role in the outfield moving forward after the Padres welcomed Jackson Merrill back from the injured list Tuesday, and Wade's opportunities to play in the middle infield will also soon become limited with Jake Cronenworth (rib) on track to be activated this weekend.

Soroka (0-2) took the loss Wednesday as the Nationals fell 8-6 to the Guardians, giving up four runs on five hits and two walks over five-plus innings. He struck out eight.

Making his first start since March 31 after recovering from a bicep strain, Soroka blanked Cleveland through five frames before running out of gas in the sixth -- he put the first four batters aboard on two singles, a hit by pitch and a double prior to exiting, as part of an eight-run inning for the Guardians. On the bright side, Soroka generated an impressive 30 called or swinging strikes among his 78 pitches. The right-hander will look for a better result in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week against Atlanta, the team he made his MLB debut with in 2018.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Though he'll be on the bench for the series finale while Martin Maldonado gets a turn behind the plate, Diaz seems to have re-established himself as the Padres' top backstop. Diaz started at catcher in each of the past three games, going 4-for-10 with a solo home run.

Murphy is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Reds.

For a sixth series in a row, Murphy will have started the first two games before giving way to Drake Baldwin in the third contest. Baldwin will step in behind the plate and bat eighth Wednesday.

The Padres optioned Bergert to Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.

Berget made a good first impression with four scoreless appearances during his first stint with the big club. He could be back in the majors sooner rather than later but for now will clear out to make room for Sean Reynolds' (foot) return from the 15-day injured list.

Reynolds has been shelved since suffering a stress reaction in his right foot during spring training, but he showed he was ready with four scoreless rehab appearances at Triple-A El Paso (albeit, with a 2:4 K:BB in 5.1 innings). The righty reliever struck out 21 over 11 frames during his time with the big club last season and can give manager Mike Shildt another weapon in the bullpen if he's able to throw enough strikes.

Marsh is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Tampa Bay.

The Rays are sending a right-hander in Shane Baz to the mound, but the left-handed-hitting Marsh will nevertheless begin the contest on the bench. Johan Rojas will start in center field and bat ninth for the Phillies.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that he's hopeful Hernandez (adductor) will be ready for activation from the 10-day injured list in two weeks, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.

Roberts had a fairly ominous tone when discussing Hernandez's left adductor strain Tuesday, but he was much more optimistic a day later. A clearer picture on Hernandez's timetable should be available in the coming days, but it's looking like the veteran outfielder has a good shot to return well before the end of the month.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Glasnow (shoulder) will resume playing catch Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Glasnow will soon resume throwing after having been shut down since exiting his April 27 start versus the Pirates due to right shoulder inflammation. Though the right-hander hasn't been out for a prolonged period, he'll likely need to complete a simulated game and/or a minor-league rehab start before the Dodgers activate him from the 15-day injured list. A target date for his return should come into focus once he reaches the point in his throwing program where he's facing hitters.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Kershaw's (toe/knee) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday in what could be the lefty's final outing in the minors before returning from the 60-day injured list, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Kershaw spun six hitless innings in his most recent outing with the Dodgers' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate Tuesday and has allowed a total of four runs over 17 innings while posting a 14:3 K:BB in four rehab starts. The veteran left-hander is eligible for activation from the 60-day injured list May 18, and signs are pointing to him making his season debut that day against the Angels.
