  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Logs four hits in win

Hoerner went 4-for-5 with two RBI in Monday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the White Sox. Hoerner came through in the clutch, delivering a game-tying RBI single in the ninth frame to send the contest to an extra inning. The second baseman has totaled four hits in a game three times since the All-Star break, slashing .371/.393/.491 with three homers, 20 RBI, 15 runs and six stolen bases over the past 29 tilts. Overall, Hoerner is hitting .265/.325/.365 with seven homers, 58 RBI, 52 runs and 20 stolen bases across 123 games.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Swipes bag No. 20

Hoerner went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-0 win over the Cardinals. While it wasn't a particularly impressive line in the box score, the steal was Hoerner's 20th of the season, marking the fifth straight campaign in which he's reached that plateau. The Gold Glove second baseman has also hit safely in five straight games, and over 26 contests since the All-Star break he's erupted for a .365/.385/.500 slash line with three homers, six stolen bases, 14 runs and 18 RBI.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Rare day off Thursday

Hoerner is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Nationals. After starting each of the previous 13 games, Hoerner will get a breather on the final day of the Cubs' road trip. Pedro Ramirez will cover second base in Hoerner's stead.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Tallies two hits, steal in win

Hoerner went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 10-2 win over the Royals. He also stole a base. Hoerner continued his strong play this month, as he's now slashing .314/.351/.543 with four extra-base hits, five RBI and five runs scored in nine August games. The speedy infielder is also now up to 18 stolen bases in 21 attempts this year, and he's closing in on his fifth straight 20-steal campaign. Hoerner's top fantasy asset remains his wheels, and he's able to swipe more bags when he's swinging a hot bat like he has been lately.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Three more hits in win

Hoerner went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Dodgers. After batting .301 in July, Hoerner has carried his strong play over into August. He has three multi-hit performances in five games this month, which has pushed his overall batting average up from .255 to .262. A career .279 hitter, Hoerner is trending in the right direction after struggling at the plate in May and June, and he should be able to rack up plenty of stolen bases if he continues to get on base at a similar clip.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Goes deep in win

Hoerner went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Yankees. Hoerner hit just his sixth home run of the season, though two of those have come in his last six games. During that span, the infielder is batting .455 with a 1.206 OPS, two stolen bases and seven RBI. Overall, Hoerner is slashing .257/.320/.356, and he's swiped 16 bases, which remains his greatest fantasy asset. He's trending upward and may start to approach his career .279 batting average if he keeps up his recent pace.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Getting rare breather Wednesday

Hoerner is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in St. Louis. Hoerner has reached base six times in the first two games of the series, but he will be given his first day off since June 14. Pedro Ramirez will pick up a start at second base in Hoerner's stead.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Continues stellar second half

Hoerner went 1-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 10-2 win over the Cardinals. After striking out in his first plate appearance, Hoerner came through with the bases loaded in the second inning, lining a two-run single as the ninth batter of the frame to chase Michael McGreevy from the game. He later stole his 15th base of the season in the fifth inning. Hoerner has started the second half of the season on fire, batting 20-for-48 (.417) with 12 RBI over his first 11 games.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Plates four runs in victory

Hoerner went 4-for-5 with a home run, two total runs and four total RBI on Monday in a 7-3 win against St. Louis. Hoerner's RBI came on a two-run single in the fifth inning and a two-run homer in the ninth. The veteran infielder continued what has been a scorching second half so far -- over 10 games since the All-Star break, he's batting .432 (19-for-44), with two four-hit performances during that span. Though his homer Monday was just his second extra-base hit among the 19 knocks, he's plated 10 runs across that 10-game stretch.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Reaches three times, steals base

Hoerner went 1-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Athletics. Hoerner has hits in three straight games and six of his last seven as he seems to be rounding back into form after a bit of a slump. The infielder is at his best when he's simply getting on first base due to his speed. Hoerner now has 12 stolen bases this year in 13 attempts, and he has 115 steals since the start of the 2023 season.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Records two hits, stolen base

Hoerner went 2-for-6 with a stolen base and an RBI in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Cardinals. After a strong start to the season, it's mostly been a slog lately for Hoerner. He's batting just .206 in 27 May games with four stolen bases. In 31 games before May, the infielder batted .291 with seven steals. Hoerner's MLB track record suggests his numbers will climb again soon, and his ability to rack up stolen bases quickly continues to drive his fantasy value.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Day off Monday

Hoerner is not in Monday's lineup against the Pirates. Hoerner is hitting .179 with two steals in his last 10 games. Recent call-up Pedro Ramirez gets the nod at the keystone, batting sixth.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Reaches three times in loss

Hoerner went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Brewers. Hoerner tallied his first multi-hit effort since May 10, and in seven games in between, he had gone just 4-for-28 before Tuesday's encouraging performance. It's been a struggle all month for the speedy infielder, who ended April batting .291 but is now down to .264. Hoerner still offers plenty of run-scoring potential atop Chicago's lineup along with the ability to swipe a base, and he's too good of a hitter to stay down for long.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Dealing with neck issue

Hoerner was removed from Friday's game against the Diamondbacks due to left-sided neck tightness, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports. The 28-year-old doubled and scored during the opening frame but was replaced by a pinch hitter during the second inning. The severity of the injury isn't clear, but the Cubs could offer some more information after Friday's contest. Hoerner should be considered day-to-day for now.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Goes deep again Friday

Hoerner went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 12-4 win over the Mets. Not known as a power hitter, Hoerner has now gone deep in consecutive games, and he has three home runs this season already. The speedy infielder's career high in long balls is 10, and he only had seven of them last year, so the power surge is a bit unexpected. Hoerner is also currently third in the National League with a .342 batting average, making it an outstanding start overall for the 28-year-old.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Powers offense Tuesday

Hoerner went 2-for-6 with a run scored and three RBI in Tuesday's 10-4 win over the Phillies. Hoerner has been off to a hot start with a .303/.397/.455 slash line through 17 games. The Cubs have responded by moving the speedy infielder up to the leadoff spot, and it looks like a move that could stick for a while based on his sustained good play. Hoerner has also contributed five steals in five attempts, and his ability on the bases is what largely drives his fantasy value.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Two more hits in win Sunday

Hoerner went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Pirates. The Cubs' leadoff man, Hoerner singled and scored in the fifth inning before hitting his seventh double of the season in the seventh. It was Hoerner's fourth multi-hit game of April, and he's now slashing .316/.420/.491 with one home run, 10 RBI, nine runs scored, five stolen bases and a 9:6 BB:K across 69 plate appearances.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Hits leadoff home run Wednesday

Hoerner went 3-for-5 with a double, a solo home run, an additional run scored and two total RBI in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Rays. Hoerner has been hot to start the season, and for the second straight day, the Cubs rewarded the speedy infielder by batting him leadoff. It was also the second straight game that he batted first despite facing a righty starter, bumping Michael Busch down in the order. Hoerner responded Wednesday with a leadoff home run, which was his first long ball of the year. As long as Hoerner stays locked in at the plate, he figures to stick as Chicago's leadoff hitter against both righties and lefties for the foreseeable future.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Steals another base Tuesday

Hoerner went 2-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and two RBI in Tuesday's 9-2 win over the Rays. Hoerner has gotten off to a nice start with a .297/.438/.432 slash line through 11 games. The infielder also has already swiped five bases without getting caught. Despite facing a righty starter in Mason Englert on Tuesday, Hoerner batted leadoff, with Michael Busch slotting in second. Busch has gotten off to a slow start, so the Cubs may elect to keep Hoerner atop the order against both righties and lefties while he's performing so well.

  • Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Paces offense from leadoff spot

Hoerner went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Angels. With Chicago facing lefty starter Yusei Kikuchi, Michael Busch slid down to fifth in the order, with Hoerner grabbing the leadoff spot. He responded with his first three-hit effort of the season and also added his fourth stolen base of the year. Hoerner is now riding a five-game hitting streak, and his ability to consistently get on base and run frequently when he does makes him a solid fantasy contributor.
