The speedy infielder has been locked in this month with a .311 batting average across 23 games in July. Overall, Hoerner is slashing .257/.320/.350, and he seems to be rounding into form after enduring a few rough patches earlier in the year.
Hoerner is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in St. Louis.
Hoerner has reached base six times in the first two games of the series, but he will be given his first day off since June 14. Pedro Ramirez will pick up a start at second base in Hoerner's stead.
