Alvarez went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Rockies.

The 23-year-old backstop took advantage of a road trip to Coors Field, slugging a solo shot in the ninth inning off Zach Agnos. The long ball was the second of the season for Alvarez, snapping a 26-game homer drought during which he'd slashed a tepid .236/.327/.270 with just six RBI. He's been showing signs of life at the plate however, batting .303 (10-for-33) over his last nine contests.

Montas (lat) threw 76 pitches (43 strikes) in a rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, giving up three runs on four hits and three walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out two.

While the results weren't pretty, the pitch count is what matters for Montas as he gets closer to making his Mets debut after suffering a lat injury in mid-February. The right-hander's 30-day rehab assignment won't run out until June 24 and New York doesn't have an immediate need in the rotation, so Montas is likely to remain at Syracuse for a couple more starts in an effort to improve his performance before being activated from the injured list.

Lopez went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Rays.

The 26-year-old has swiped a bag in back-to-back games, giving him seven on the season in 10 attempts. Lopez has picked up the pace at the plate over the last few weeks, slashing .255/.333/.412 over the last 14 contests with two homers, four steals, six runs and eight RBI.

Bellozo (1-3) took the loss Sunday against the Rays, coughing up three runs on two hits and a walk over 3.1 innings. He struck out three.

The Marlins went with a bullpen game Sunday, and Bellozo was the only Miami hurler to give up any runs in a 3-2 loss. Yandy Diaz was the right-hander's nemesis, clubbing a two-run homer off Bellozo in the fifth inning and adding a double to lead off the eighth. Bellozo has provided useful innings in a swingman role, pitching at least three frames in all nine of his appearances (five starts) and allowing more than one earned run only twice. On the season, he sports a 3.41 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 28:14 K:BB through 34.1 innings.

Hernandez went 3-for-3 with a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Rays.

Getting the start at DH and batting eighth, Hernandez produced the first three-hit performance of his brief MLB career. The 25-year-old has gone 6-for-11 over the last four games with two RBI and only one strikeout, but he's still looking for his first big-league extra-base hit. Hernandez's last two starts have come against right-handed pitching, a good sign for his chances of sticking around on the roster, but his playing time will likely decline once Kyle Stowers (hand) get healthy.

Harrison (elbow) is listed as the Giants' probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Rockies in Colorado.

Harrison's previous start last Wednesday against the Padres was cut short after he was struck on the left elbow by a comebacker midway through the fifth inning, but he escaped the incident with nothing more than a bruise. The southpaw was able to complete his between-starts bullpen session over the weekend and looks set to pitch Tuesday with no restrictions. However, Harrison -- who owns a 4.73 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB in 13.1 innings over his previous three starts -- won't make for a comfortable streaming option in a road start at hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Caminiti struck out eight and allowed one run on one hit and one walk over five innings for Single-A Augusta on Saturday.

The 18-year-old southpaw got a late start to the season due to forearm tendinitis, but after four starts in the Florida Complex League to get built up, Caminiti was bumped up to Augusta and dazzled over 62 pitches (43 strikes). A first-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, the second-generation ballplayer -- his uncle was 1996 NL MVP Ken Caminiti -- won't be rushed up the ladder given his age, but he could be an option for the Atlanta rotation in a few years.

Verlander (pectoral) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Wednesday in Colorado, MLB.com reports.

On Friday, Verlander threw 35-to-40 pitches in a sim game at Oracle Park, and he'll presumably build on that workload while he faces hitters again Wednesday. If Verlander checks out fine physically following the upcoming sim game, he could be cleared to return from the 15-day injured list next week. Before landing on the shelf May 22 due to a right pec strain, Verlander went 0-3 with a 4.33 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 41:21 K:BB over 52 innings with the Giants.

Atlanta sent Alvarez (wrist) to its rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate Monday to begin a rehab assignment.

Alvarez has endured a long recovery process since he was diagnosed with left wrist inflammation all the way back in late February. He's finally been cleared for game action, and the 22-year-old seems like a good bet to be optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett rather than added to the major-league roster once he's activated from the 60-day injured list.

The Reds optioned La Sorsa to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.

La Sorsa was added as a 27th man Saturday, when the Reds and Diamondbacks completed a suspended game along with playing their regularly scheduled contest. The lefty reliever pitched one inning in the latter game, managing a scoreless frame despite two walks.
