  • Pirates' Cam Sanders: Officially recalled

The Pirates recalled Sanders from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday. Sanders joined the Pirates' taxi squad ahead of Wednesday's contest, and he'll now grab a spot on the active roster to make up for the loss of Chris Devenski (illness). Sanders will likely be limited to low-leverage work after allowing four runs in three MLB innings this year and logging a 5.19 ERA and 2.44 WHIP at Indianapolis.

Sanders is with the Pirates' taxi squad in Arizona prior to Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. It's not clear what the Pirates' plans are for Sanders, but the 29-year-old right-hander could be deployed out of bullpen at some point during the team's road trip. He's spent the majority of the season in Triple-A but has appeared in three major-league games, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four across three innings.

The Pirates optioned Sanders to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Sanders was up with the Pirates for just three days following his call-up from Indianapolis and made his lone appearance Monday, when he gave up a run in 1.2 innings out of the bullpen in Pittsburgh's 4-0 loss to the Cubs. He'll give up his spot on the 28-man active roster to right-hander Yohan Ramirez (personal), who was reinstated from the paternity list.

The Pirates optioned Sanders to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports. Sanders had his contract selected Aug. 5 and appeared in five games with the Pirates before Friday's move. The 28-year-old reliever didn't allow a run in four of his five outings, but he yielded five runs in one-third of an inning against the Reds in his other appearance. Evan Sisk and Colin Holderman will join the big-league bullpen as part of Friday's slew of roster moves.
