  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Goes deep Tuesday

Jeffers went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's loss to the Padres.

Jeffers had one of two extra-base hits for the Twins, with his being a big blast in the fourth to put his team ahead 2-1. Jeffers now has a home run and a combined six RBI over his last three starts. Tuesday's homer brought him up to 20 for the season which extends his career high. His .785 OPS ranks fourth among all catchers. Jeffers remains locked into a fairly even timeshare behind the dish with Christian Vazquez, but 20 starts at DH have padded his playing time, and he continues to make the most of his opportunities. For the year, he's slashing .233/.313/.472 with 38 extra-base hits, 59 RBI, 46 runs, three steals and a 26:75 BB:K in 372 plate appearances.

  • Davis Martin SP | CHW

White Sox's Davis Martin: Takes loss to Giants

Martin (0-2) took the loss to the Giants on Tuesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out five in 4.1 innings.

Martin started out hot by striking out the side in the first inning, but walks would come back to hurt him in the third and fifth innings. Martin's issued multiple walks in four of five outings this season, but he's showing decent swing-and-miss stuff, striking out five batters in three of his four starts in August. The 27-year-old has held his own after missing all of last year due to Tommy John surgery, posting a 3.22 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 22:12 K:BB in 22.1 innings. He lines up to face the Tigers at home to begin next week.

  • Andres Gimenez SS | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Records steal in extra-innings win

Gimenez went 0-for-4 with three walks and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-5 extra-innings win over the Yankees.

Gimenez has posted six steals over his last 11 games despite going hitless six times in that span. He's now in an 0-for-10 slump over his last three contests. The second baseman has a .252/.304/.331 slash line with 22 thefts, five home runs, 50 RBI and 50 runs scored through 117 contests overall, as his lack of power and modest hitting have yet to cost him a starting spot in the lineup.

  • Steven Kwan LF | CLE

Guardians' Steven Kwan: Logs 10th steal

Kwan went 0-for-4 with three walks, a stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 9-5 extra-innings win over the Yankees.

Kwan was held hitless for the fourth time in six games, which has put a damper on his usually-elite on-base numbers. In August, he's batting .221 (15-for-68) with 11 walks and four steals over 18 contests. The outfielder is now at a .313/.375/.462 slash line with 13 home runs, 10 steals, 36 RBI and 71 runs scored across 99 games this season. With only modest contributions outside of batting average and runs, he's tough to keep in fantasy lineups when he's in a slump.

  • Tim Herrin RP | CLE

Guardians' Tim Herrin: Earns fifth win

Herrin (5-0) walked one and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the win over the Yankees on Tuesday.

Herrin worked the 11th inning and kept the game tied at 3-3 before the Guardians' offense erupted in the 12th to make him the pitcher of record. The southpaw has had a bumpy August, allowing six runs over 8.1 innings, but he's picked up two holds and avoided losses and blown saves in that nine-appearance span. Herrin has a 2.12 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 50:23 K:BB through 51 innings overall while adding 13 holds this season, though his high walk rate (4.1 BB/9) has mostly limited him to a middle-relief role.

  • Orioles' Anthony Santander: Homers in Tuesday's win

Santander went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-5 win over the Mets.

Santander made an early impact, putting the Orioles ahead 2-0 with his first-inning blast. The outfielder has gone just 7-for-44 (.159) over his last 11 games, but five of those hits have gone for extra bases. He's up to 37 homers on the year while adding 82 RBI, 75 runs scored, two stolen bases and a .239/.306/.528 slash line over 121 contests.

  • Twins' Kody Funderburk: Could begin rehab assignment soon

Funderburk (left oblique strain) has started a throwing program and could begin a rehab assignment this weekend, Phil Miller of the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Funderburk went on the 15-day injured list July 21. He may need several appearances in the minors after a long layoff.

  • Brooks Lee 3B | MIN

Twins' Brooks Lee: Could begin rehab assignment soon

Lee (shoulder) will work out Thursday with Triple-A St. Paul and could go on a rehab assignment over the weekend, MLB.com reports.

Lee has progressed in the past few days to throwing and hitting from both sides of the plate. Lee went on the injured list Aug. 9 with right biceps tendinitis, for which he received a cortisone shot. It sounds like he could be activated from the IL early next week.

  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Close to rehab assignment

Kirilloff (back) was ready to go on a rehab assignment this week but suffered a sprained ankle while doing drills, Phil Miller of the Minnesota Star Tribune reports. He could begin a rehab assignment in the next week.

Kirilloff has been on the injured list since mid-June due a back injury and nerve issue. The good news is it sounds like his back is finally healthy, but the bad news is the delay in his rehab could push his return well into September.

  • Jose Siri LF | LAA

Rays' Jose Siri: Clubs homer in win

Siri went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Athletics.

Siri took Oakland starter Joey Estes deep in the eighth inning for the lone run of the game. Prior to Tuesday, Siri was 0-for-19 across his last eight games, a slump that had started to cost him playing time in center field. The outfielder is up to 15 homers through a career-high 105 contests this season, but he's slashing just .195/.268/.375 with 39 RBI, 41 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. Jonny DeLuca and Kameron Misner have most often replaced Siri in center field, though the Rays have not deployed a strict platoon at the position.
