  • White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Resting against southpaw

Benintendi is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.

Benintendi will head to the bench along with fellow left-handed hitters Gavin Sheets and Nicky Lopez while the Angels send southpaw Tyler Anderson to the hill. Zach DeLoach will fill in for Benintendi in left field.

  • Nicky Lopez 2B | TEX

White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Idle against lefty

Lopez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.

Lopez typically serves as the White Sox's leadoff hitter against right-handed pitching, but he'll hit the bench for the fourth time in five games while Chicago opposes another lefty (Tyler Anderson) in the series finale with the Angels. Miguel Vargas will serve as Chicago's table setter Thursday, while Jacob Amaya takes Lopez's usual spot at shortstop.

  • Jordyn Adams CF | MIL

Angels' Jordyn Adams: Remains out Thursday

Adams (knee) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.

Adams hasn't played in a week due to a sore right knee. While there's no indication an injured list stint could be in the offing, it's also unclear when he might be ready to return to action. Gustavo Campero is covering right field again for the Angels.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Sitting out with leg bruise

Schanuel (leg) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.

Schanuel departed Wednesday's contest when a foul ball off his right lower leg resulted in a painful contusion. He's considered day-to-day. Brandon Drury will fill in at first base for the Angels in Thursday's matinee.

  • Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Idle against lefty

Carpenter is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays.

With southpaw Tyler Alexander toeing the rubber for the Rays, the left-handed-hitting Carpenter will take a seat for the series finale. Andy Ibanez will enter the Detroit lineup as a replacement for Carpenter and will serve as the Tigers' leadoff hitter.

  • Gavin Sheets 1B | SD

White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Sitting versus lefty

Sheets is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Angels.

The White Sox are facing a lefty for the second day in a row and Sheets will again begin the contest on the bench. He did pinch hit (and struck out) in Wednesday's game. Miguel Vargas is in the designated hitter slot Thursday.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Sitting out matinee

Lee is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.

Lee and Chuckie Robinson have alternated starts at catcher over the team's last 14 contests. It will be Robinson behind the plate as the White Sox attempt to complete a sweep.

  • Jonny DeLuca RF | TB

Rays' Jonny DeLuca: Taking seat Thursday

DeLuca is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

He'll give way to Jose Siri in center field for the series finale. DeLuca had started in each of the Rays' last three games while going 3-for-9 with a walk.

  • Jose Caballero SS | NYY

Rays' Jose Caballero: Getting Thursday off

Caballero is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

Caballero will get a breather for the series finale while Brandon Lowe and Taylor Walls serve as the Rays' starters in the middle infield. Over his last five games, Caballero has been caught stealing in both of his attempts, but his 44 steals on the season are still good for fourth place in the majors.

  • Scott Effross RP | DET

Yankees' Scott Effross: Back in big leagues

The Yankees recalled Effross from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

He'll take the roster and bullpen spot vacated by Mark Leiter, who has been placed on paternity leave. Effross has permitted two runs over two innings during his time with the Yankees this season.
