Gelof had a minimum stint on the IL while recovering from a right hand contusion and did not need to embark on a rehab assignment before returning to the majors. With Brian Serven also being called up, the Athletics optioned both Darell Hernaiz and Joey Meneses to Triple-A Las Vegas in corresponding moves. The 26-year-old suffered a laceration and contusion when Matt Chapman stepped on his hand in the second inning of Tuesday's contest, but it doesn't seem like Gelof suffered any major injuries during the encounter. That said, Max Muncy could still see an uptick in playing time if Gelof needs to miss a game or two.
