Houck had an MRI on his right elbow come back clean Friday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

The 28-year-old remains without a clear return timeline, but a clean MRI is encouraging news after he was placed on the injured list Thursday due to a right flexor pronator strain. Houck will be eligible to rejoin the active roster May 28, but it wouldn't be surprising if he requires a longer absence given the nature of the injury.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Friday that Buehler (shoulder) is lined up to rejoin the rotation Tuesday against the Mets, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Buehler threw a successful live batting practice session Thursday, and the Red Sox are waiting until Saturday to see how he recovers before they officially clear him to return. The right-hander has been out since early May with right shoulder inflammation but is poised to skip a rehab assignment and go right back into Boston's rotation.

O'Neill was scratched from the lineup for Friday's game versus the Nationals due to left shoulder discomfort, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

The 29-year-old was activated last Friday after a two-week stay on the injured list due to neck inflammation, and he's now battling a shoulder issue. O'Neill had the discomfort surface while in the batting cage earlier this week and should be considered day-to-day.

Gilbert was removed from an appearance Friday against the Cubs due to left knee soreness, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Gilbert faced only two batters in the sixth inning, yielding a single and getting a strikeout before getting pulled. Consider the lefty reliever day-to-day for the time being.

Lugo will have his scheduled start Saturday versus the Cardinals skipped due to right middle finger inflammation, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.

Lugo will avoid the 15-day injured list for the time being, with his next outing tentatively lined up to come May 23 in Minnesota. Noah Cameron will make a spot start Saturday against the Cardinals in Lugo's place.

Cameron will be called up from Triple-A Omaha to make a spot start Saturday against the Cardinals, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

The left-hander covered 6.1 scoreless frames in his MLB debut April 30 while Cole Ragans was banged up, and a similar situation with Seth Lugo (finger) will provide an opening for Cameron to rejoin the big-league rotation Saturday. The 25-year-old may be in store for another short stay in the majors, however, since Lugo isn't expected to require a stint on the injured list. Cameron has been pitching well at Triple-A Omaha this season with a 3.31 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 38:13 K:BB across 32.2 innings.

Rice is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets.

Rice is hitting just .225 in May but still has a .761 OPS this month thanks to six doubles and a homer, and he finds himself on the bench Friday for the second time in the Yankees' past three games. Jasson Dominguez will receive a turn at designated hitter while Cody Bellinger, Trent Grisham and Aaron Judge start from left to right in the outfield.

Fitzgerald has been added to the Twins' taxi squad, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Both Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton are in concussion protocol, so Fitzgerald is around in the event one or both of them needs to go on the 7-day concussion injured list. Fitzgerald has slashed .328/.426/.528 with four homers and three steals at Triple-A St. Paul this season. The 30-year-old is not on the 40-man roster and has never played in the big leagues.

Campbell was seen doing some first-base drills prior to Friday's game versus Atlanta, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

It doesn't necessarily mean the Red Sox are giving real thought to using Campbell at first base, as players will sometimes take reps at a position they're unlikely to play. However, the Red Sox have a clear opening at first base following the season-ending injury to Triston Casas (knee), and Campbell's defensive metrics at second base have been poor. Campbell has never played first base in pro ball.

Santander is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Tigers.

Santander went 1-for-12 with five strikeouts in the past three games after sitting out a few days due to a shoulder issue, and he'll hit the bench for Friday's series opener against the Tigers. George Springer will serve as the designated hitter while Jonatan Clase and Nathan Lukes start in the corner outfield spots.
