Luke Keaschall will receive the start in center field while Buxton gets some time to tend to renewed discomfort in his right hip, which cropped up during Tuesday's 4-2 loss while he was in pursuit of a flyball, per MLB.com. Due to issues related to his right hip, Buxton has landed on the injured list on two occasions within the last two months, so the Twins will likely tread carefully with him. With a team off day coming Thursday, Buxton will effectively get two days of rest, but he's far from a lock to return to the lineup for Friday's series opener versus the White Sox.
Buxton was removed from Tuesday's game against the Athletics with an apparent injury, Audra Martin of Twins.tv reports.
Buxton wasn't able to reach down to get his glove on a ball hit into right-center field in the seventh inning, and he looked to be grabbing at his right hip after the play -- the same hip that caused him to miss multiple weeks earlier this month. The Twins will take a closer look at him to determine the severity of his latest injury, and an update on his status may be available after the game.

Buxton went 3-for-5 with a double, four runs scored and a walk in Monday's 9-6 win over the Athletics.
Buxton was active offensively, matching a season high with four runs while picking up three hits for the first time since June 26. In 10 games since returning from the injured list due to a right hip impingement, the center fielder has gone 7-for-36 (.194) with no homers, one RBI and eight runs. Overall, Buxton is slashing .256/.321/.515 with 25 homers, 46 RBI, 65 runs and seven stolen bases in 92 contests.
Buxton is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
It appears to be a standard rest day for Buxton after returning from the injured list last week and starting the past four games. The 32-year-old has gone 2-for-15 with a double, three walks and a run scored since coming back from a hip impingement.

Buxton's progress from a right hip impingement was slow going initially, but he got through a full workout this week with no issues to clear the way for his return to action. Twins manager Derek Shelton said Wednesday that "[Thursday] is a possibility" for Buxton's (hip) activation from the 10-day injured list, Jack Azoulay-Haron of ELEmergente.com reports.
Buxton has been sidelined since late July with a right hip impingement, but he went through a full workout at Target Field on Tuesday and his activation is imminent. As long as he doesn't report any lingering soreness following Tuesday's workout, it sounds as though Buxton will be back in the lineup for Thursday's MLB at Field of Dreams game against the Phillies.

Working his way back from a right hip impingement, Buxton ran the bases and took batting practice on the field as part of a "very encouraging" workout, per Twins manager Derek Shelton. The club will wait to see how Buxton recovers from the workout before determining next steps, but Shelton noted that the outfielder won't need a rehab assignment before being activated from the 10-day injured list. Buxton's return appears to be imminent, but the Twins could offer more clarity on the center fielder's status later Tuesday.
Buxton (hip) has yet to resume baseball activities since landing on the 10-day injured list July 29, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. "It's a little slower than what I expected, but I'm starting to pick it up a little more, do a little more things as far as loading, isometrics and weight training stuff, lifting," Buxton said Thursday. "Hopefully, relay that over to the field over a couple of days."
Buxton hit the IL for the second time in less than a month after suffering an aggravation of a right hip impingement, an injury that had been bothering him since mid-May. He received an unspecified injection last week to treat the injury, and he won't be in line to return from the IL when first eligible this weekend. While Buxton is on the shelf, Luke Keaschall will likely continue to serve as the Twins' everyday center fielder, with Alan Roden holding down the strong side of a platoon in right field.
