  • Rockies' Willi Castro: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Castro is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Cubs. Castro had started each of the previous nine games, but he'll get a breather during Wednesday's series finale. Edouard Julien is garnering the start at second base in Castro's stead.

  • Rockies' Willi Castro: Drives in two

Castro went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Cubs. Castro opened the scoring for the Rockies with an RBI double in the fourth inning, and he knocked in an additional run one frame later. He has had three multi-RBI performances in his last 12 games, also hitting .354 with three homers, 12 RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base in that span. That positive production has moved Castro up the Rockies' lineup, as he hit second for the fourth consecutive game against right-handed pitching Tuesday.

  • Rockies' Willi Castro: Sitting Saturday

Castro is not in the Rockies' starting lineup against the Brewers on Saturday. Castro will take a seat after going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Friday's series opener. Edouard Julien and Kyle Karros will start at second and third base, respectively, in Saturday's contest.

  • Rockies' Willi Castro: Clubs homer in win

Castro went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Angels. Castro has gone 10-for-32 (.313) over his last eight games after a short absence due to lower-back tightness. The utility man has just two extra-base hits in that span, but his fourth-inning homer Tuesday blew the game wide open as the Rockies marched to the win. Castro is batting a decent .260 this season, adding a .692 OPS, three homers, 22 RBI, 25 runs scored, nine doubles and four stolen bases over 51 contests.

  • Rockies' Willi Castro: Scratched from lineup Saturday

Castro has been scratched from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks due to low-back tightness. TJ Rumfield will now start at first base with Sterlin Thompson at DH, opening up right field for Tyler Freeman against right-hander Zac Gallen. While the severity of Castro's injury is unknown, it's poor timing for the 29-year-old, as he was showing signs of life with eight hits in his last 21 at-bats.

  • Rockies' Willi Castro: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Castro is out of the lineup against Texas on Wednesday After going 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout Tuesday, Castro will sit out for the series finale against the Rangers. The switch hitter is slashing .239/.299/.343 with two homers and three steals through 147 plate appearances this year. The 29-year-old has been a lineup regular for Colorado and will receive a day off against right-hander Jack Leiter.

  • Rockies' Willi Castro: On base three times

Castro went 1-for-2 with an RBI, two walks and a run scored Thursday against the Mets. Castro drove in Colorado's first run of the game with a single in the fourth inning and also scored a run four frames later on a grand slam by Jake McCarthy. Castro is riding a modest four-game hitting streak, going 5-for-15 with two runs in that span. Overall, he has had a mediocre start to his time in Colorado, hitting .250 with 14 runs scored and 12 RBI across 106 plate appearances this season.

  • Rockies' Willi Castro: Still sitting for Game 2

Castro (knee) is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Mets. Castro won't start either contest of Sunday's twin bill, marking a third straight absence after departing Thursday's game against the Padres due to right knee soreness. Tyler Freeman will replace him in the lineup while Edouard Julien mans the keystone.

  • Rockies' Willi Castro: Absence continuing for Game 1

Castro (knee) is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Mets. Castro was held out of the lineup Friday after exiting Thursday's contest due to knee soreness, and he won't rejoin the starting nine for Sunday's matinee. It remains to be seen if he'll be available off the bench or for Game 2.

  • Rockies' Willi Castro: Sitting out Friday

Castro (knee) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets. Castro had to exit Thursday's contest versus the Padres with right knee soreness. It appears to be a day-to-day type of injury, though it's unclear whether he'll be available off the bench Friday. Tyler Freeman is occupying second base and hitting cleanup for Colorado.

  • Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Resting up Sunday

Tovar is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. Tovar will hit the bench for only the second time in the Rockies' first 22 games. Willi Castro (hand) will return to the starting nine following a three-game absence, filling in for Tovar at shortstop.

  • Rockies' Willi Castro: Sitting third straight

Castro (hand) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers. Castro has been held out of action since he was hit on the hand by a pitch during Wednesday's contest. A move to the injured list doesn't seem to be imminent, but it could come into consideration if the 28-year-old isn't cleared to return soon. Edouard Julien will man second base Saturday.

  • Rockies' Willi Castro: Receiving first day off of 2026

Castro is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros. Castro will head to the bench for the first time in 2026 after making starts at all four infield spots through Colorado's first 11 games of the season. With Castro bowing out of the lineup for the series finale, Edouard Julien will enter the starting nine at the keystone.

  • Cubs' Willi Castro: Sitting after three straight starts

Castro is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates. Castro had started in right field in each of the three games, but he'll hit the bench while Seiya Suzuki (illness) returns to the starting nine after missing each of the last five contests. Though the Cubs have an opening in right field while Kyle Tucker (calf) remains on the injured list, manager Craig Counsell could turn to Suzuki to fill the void in order to open up the designated-hitter spot for Moises Ballesteros, who has gone 7-for-18 with a home run, a triple and three walks. Ballesteros will be included in the lineup Wednesday and could be prioritized over Castro while the former is swinging the hotter bat of the two.

  • Cubs' Willi Castro: Idle Wednesday

Castro is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta. Though he could end up getting most of the starts in right field while Kyle Tucker (calf) is on the injured list, Castro will hit the bench after he had been included in the lineup in five of the previous six contests. With Castro taking a seat, the Cubs will open up a spot at designated hitter for Justin Turner, leaving Seiya Suzuki to cover right field.

  • Cubs' Willi Castro: Collects two hits in rout

Castro went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Saturday's 12-1 win over the Angels. Castro started at third base to give Matt Shaw a breather, then shifted to center field later in the contest. The veteran utility player got off to a slow start with the Cubs after coming over at the trade deadline, but he now has a hit in three of his last four games, during which time he's batting .308. Castro remains an inconsistent fantasy performer, though he can deliver some power and speed when he's locked in.

  • Cubs' Willi Castro: Hits first Chicago home run

Castro went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Brewers. Castro has been scuffling a bit since joining the Cubs at the trade deadline, but he delivered a key blast to help lead Chicago to a 6-4 win in the first game Tuesday. It was the utility man's first home run with his new team and 11th overall this season. Castro is now batting .150 across 12 games in a Cubs' uniform, though he has at least provided defensive versatility, and his big homer could get him going at the plate.

  • Cubs' Willi Castro: Moved to Cubs

The Cubs acquired Castro from the Twins on Thursday in exchange for right-handers Sam Armstrong and Ryan Gallagher, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. The switch-hitting Castro will likely play all over the infield and outfield for the Cubs, serving as an injury fill-in or as a lineup replacement when a regular needs a day off or is slumping. The move to Chicago could result in less playing time than he received in Minnesota, where Castro slashed .245/.335/.407 with 10 home runs and nine steals in 86 games.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Blasts 10th homer in defeat

Castro went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Friday's 6-4 loss to Colorado. Castro crushed his 10th homer of the campaign while also posting his second three-RBI showing in his past three outings. The utility man has settled in nicely following a rough start to the season, which saw him post a .227 batting average and .364 slugging percentage through April 16. Since May began, Castro is slashing .276/.374/.469 with 18 extra-base hits, 35 runs scored and seven stolen bases over 223 plate appearances.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Enjoys three-hit day

Castro went 3-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and three RBI during Saturday's 12-4 win over the Pirates. Castro picked up his first multi-hit game since July 3, notching at least three hits in a game for the fifth time this season. The super-utility player has enjoyed another great season at the plate, slashing .269/.361/.442 with 14 doubles, nine homers and 24 RBI. If he can keep up the pace for the rest of the season, his .803 OPS would be his best since becoming an everyday big leaguer in 2021.
