  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Collects 12th save

Munoz earned the save Thursday against the Orioles, allowing two walks while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning. Munoz was handed a three-run lead in the ninth and made things a bit interesting. The right-hander issued walks to Gunnar Henderson and Samuel Basallo to bring the tying run to the plate, but the right-hander ultimately closed out the victory to secure his 12th save in 17 opportunities. He's recorded consecutive scoreless appearances for the first time since May 22. Munoz now owns a 5.47 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 39:13 K:BB across 26.1 innings.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Earns save Tuesday

Munoz allowed a hit and struck out one without walking a batter in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Orioles. Munoz recently battled back tightness following a poor outing Sunday versus the Nationals. He was cleared to pitch earlier Tuesday and converted his 11th save of the season with 17 pitches (13 strikes). The right-hander has had a poor season with a 5.68 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 38:11 K:BB through 25.1 innings, which also includes five blown saves. However, his inconsistent performance hasn't cost him the closer job yet, and that's unlikely to change immediately since Matt Brash (lat) landed on the injured list last week. If Munoz hits another rough patch, Jose Ferrer, Gabe Speier or Eduard Bazardo would likely be candidates to challenge for save chances.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Cleared to play

Munoz (back) will be available to pitch in Tuesday's game against Baltimore, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Munoz made an early exit from Sunday's contest due to back tightness, but he's been given a clean bill of health ahead of Tuesday's contest. The 27-year-old has recorded a team-high 10 saves on the season but hasn't been particularly reliable while doing so, logging a 5.92 ERA and 1.44 WHIP across 24.1 innings.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Battling tight back

Munoz was removed from Sunday's game against the Nationals due to lower-back tightness, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. The Mariners closer entered for the ninth inning of a 7-1 game since he hadn't pitched in nearly a week, and he allowed both batters he faced to reach before departing with the injury. The initial diagnosis is encouraging since it's not an arm issue, and Munoz should be considered day-to-day heading into Tuesday's series opener versus Baltimore

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Picks up save No. 10

Munoz secured the save Monday against the Orioles, allowing no runs on no hits and one walk in the ninth inning. He struck out two. Baltimore made Munoz work Monday, as the hurler needed 20 pitches (11 strikes) to complete the frame. The hard-throwing right-hander is looking for some consistency as Seattle's closer, considering he's not yet converted four consecutive save opportunities at any point this year. Through 24.1 innings, Munoz has a shaky 5.18 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 37:10 K:BB with 10 saves in 15 attempts.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Blows save against Detroit

Munoz (3-4) blew the save and took the loss against the Tigers on Sunday, allowing two runs on one hit and two walks in two-thirds of an inning. Munoz came in for the ninth inning to protect Seattle's 4-3 lead. He got the first batter he faced out but proceeded to walk the next two before yielding a two-run single to Kevin McGonigle. It was the fifth blown save of the season for Munoz, three of which have come over his last four save opportunities, and he now has a 5.40 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 35:9 K:BB across 23.1 innings. The Mariners may have to look into turning closing duties over to Jose Ferrer or Matt Brash if Munoz continues to struggle.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Charged with blown save

Munoz was charged with his third blown save of the season Tuesday in a 2-1 loss to the White Sox, allowing two inherited runners to score while striking out two over two-thirds of an inning. Munoz wasn't charged with a run, but he failed to clean up the mess Luis Castillo left him in the ninth inning. Munoz hasn't been able to stretch a scoreless streak beyond four innings this season in what's been an uneven start to the campaign. He's 8-for-11 in save chances while pitching to a 4.82 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB through 18.2 innings over 20 appearances. Despite his struggles, Munoz remains in the driver's seat for saves in Seattle.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Blows save Saturday

Munoz blew the save in Saturday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Royals, allowing one unearned run on two hits and no walks with one strikeout in the ninth inning. Munoz was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the ninth but gave up a run on a one-out single that was uncharacteristically misplayed by Julio Rodriguez. It continued what has been a somewhat rocky start for the top-tier closer, though the appearance actually lowered Munoz's season ERA from 6.00 to 5.54. Overall, he's 6-for-8 in save chances while also posting a 1.38 WHIP and 21:6 K:BB across 13 innings in the early going.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Notches save No. 5

Munoz walked one and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his fifth save of the season in an 11-9 win over the Cardinals. The right-hander fired only seven of his 14 pitches for strikes, but Munoz escaped taking any damage after a leadoff walk by getting Nathan Church to ground into a double play. Munoz has blown only one save chance so far this season, but a couple shaky appearances have left him with a 6.55 ERA and 1.45 WHIP through 11 innings despite an 18:6 K:BB. Should he falter enough as Seattle's closer, Matt Brash -- who picked up the win Saturday -- has yet to allow an earned run in 2026 and would be the next man up.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Strikes out three in save

Munoz struck out three and did not allow a hit or a walk during a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Rangers. Munoz's wild pitch allowed Jake Burger to get on base, but he was stranded there. Munoz has had a couple of abysmal showings in non-save situations, but he's converted all three of his save chances so far while keeping runs off the board in seven of his nine appearances. He's pitched to a 7.88 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB across eight innings this season. As long as Munoz continues to lock down saves, his status as closer should hold firm.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Secures first save

Munoz walked two and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Friday's 9-6 win over the Astros. Munoz hadn't gotten a save chance before Friday, mostly due to the Mariners' underwhelming performance early in the season. He was a little shaky, throwing just 12 of 25 pitches for strikes, but he got the job done. Munoz has allowed three runs (two earned) over five innings this season, scattering three hits and two walks while racking up eight strikeouts. If the Mariners get on track, the save chances should follow for the 27-year-old, who converted 38 of his 45 save opportunities in the 2025 regular season while adding a dominant 1.73 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 62.1 innings.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Strikes out three in spring return

Munoz allowed a hit and a walk while striking out three in a scoreless inning in Sunday's Cactus League matchup with the Reds. Munoz was sharp in his return from the World Baseball Classic, where he allowed a run in two innings with Team Mexico. The 27-year-old Munoz is expected to be one of the game's top closers again in 2026 after converting 38 of 45 save opportunities while posting a sparkling 1.73 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP and 83 strikeouts across 62.1 innings last year.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Club option for 2026 exercised

The Mariners exercised Munoz's $6 million option for 2026, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports. Munoz saved 38 regular-season games while posting a 1.73 ERA and 83:28 K:BB over 62.1 innings, so the Mariners made the easy decision to retain him at a bargain rate in 2026. The club also has an $8 million option for 2027 and $10 million option for 2028 on Munoz. The hard-throwing reliever should be one of the best closers in baseball again next season.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Collects three Ks in save

Munoz earned the save Thursday against the Royals, striking out three and allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning. Tasked with protecting a two-run lead, Munoz worked around a Vinnie Pasquantino double and a hit batter to lock down his 36th save of the season. It was just the second time this year that the right-hander has struck out three batters in an appearance. After a rocky stretch in which Munoz allowed runs in three of five outings, he's now strung together six consecutive scoreless appearances. The 26-year-old has been one of the league's top closers this season, ranking third in MLB in saves while carrying a 1.54 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 78:25 K:BB across 58.1 innings.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Registers 34th save

Munoz secured the save Tuesday against the Cardinals, striking out one and allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning. Munoz recorded his 34th save of the season in his third straight scoreless outing. The All-Star right-hander owns a 1.63 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 71:25 K:BB through 55.1 innings on the campaign. Munoz is third in the major leagues in saves for the year, and he's established a strong grip on the Seattle closer role.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Locks down 33rd save

Munoz picked up the save in Monday's 4-2 win over the Cardinals. He allowed no hits and a walk while striking out two over a scoreless inning. The hard-throwing righty made quick work of St. Louis, issuing only a one-out walk to Ivan Herrera before striking out Alec Burleson and Nolan Gorman to secure his 33rd save of the season. It was Munoz's first outing since Aug. 31, as Seattle's schedule since then featured a four-game losing skid followed by back-to-back blowout wins over Atlanta that didn't require his services.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Hangs on for 31st save

Munoz earned the save in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Padres, allowing a run on two hits in the ninth inning. Munoz allowed a run on a pair of doubles in the ninth inning, though he managed to strand the tying run on third base to pick up his 31st save this year. While Munoz has converted 10 straight save chances, he's been a bit shaky of late, allowing a run in three of his last four appearances. Overall, the right-hander sports a 1.56 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP and 66:24 K:BB across 52 innings this season.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Sloppy in 30th save

Munoz allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out two over one inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Athletics. Munoz gave up three straight one-out singles to bring in a run, and then loaded the bases with a walk. He was able to get the last two outs, but this was far from a pretty effort from the Seattle closer. He's given up two runs on seven hits and six walks while striking out nine over eight innings in August, picking up six saves in his eight appearances. Munoz is at a 1.47 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 63:24 K:BB through 49 innings this season. He reached the 30-save mark for the first time in his career by closing out Friday's game.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Survives rough inning for save

Munoz earned a save against the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out one batter over one inning. Munoz entered with a three-run cushion in the ninth frame, but the last-place White Sox certainly made him work for the save. Munoz's outing began with a solo homer by Michael Taylor, and the All-Star closer then walked the next two batters to put the tying runs on base with no outs. However, Munoz was able to right the ship, retiring the next three batters to escape the jam. Though his eight-game scoreless streak came to an end, he nabbed his 26th save of the campaign, tied for fourth most in the majors.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Nabs 25th save

Munoz picked up the save Sunday against the Rangers, allowing one walk and no hits with one strikeout over a scoreless ninth inning. Munoz walked the first batter he faced Sunday, but he retired the next two batters while the baserunner he walked was caught stealing. Munoz has thrown eight consecutive scoreless innings, racking up four saves during that stretch. He's one of five relievers with at least 25 saves this season.
