  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Takes blown save

Munoz allowed a run on two hits and struck out one without walking a batter over one inning, taking a blown save in Friday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Diamondbacks. Munoz wasn't able to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning, but he didn't let Arizona get ahead. The Mariners then walked it off in the 10th. Munoz has allowed a run in each of his last two outings and has converted just one of his last three save chances as his early struggles have continued in the middle part of the campaign. He's at a 4.98 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 34:7 K:BB through 21.2 innings while converting just nine of 13 save chances. While Munoz has struggled, manager Dan Wilson has largely stuck by his closer -- Jose Ferrer (three) is the only other reliever with multiple saves on the team.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Charged with blown save

Munoz was charged with his third blown save of the season Tuesday in a 2-1 loss to the White Sox, allowing two inherited runners to score while striking out two over two-thirds of an inning. Munoz wasn't charged with a run, but he failed to clean up the mess Luis Castillo left him in the ninth inning. Munoz hasn't been able to stretch a scoreless streak beyond four innings this season in what's been an uneven start to the campaign. He's 8-for-11 in save chances while pitching to a 4.82 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB through 18.2 innings over 20 appearances. Despite his struggles, Munoz remains in the driver's seat for saves in Seattle.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Bounces back with save

Munoz earned a save against Atlanta on Monday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters over one scoreless inning. Munoz had just a one-run lead to work with when he entered in the bottom of the ninth frame, but he maneuvered around a two-out single to close out the Seattle win. It was a nice rebound performance after the right-hander blew his previous save chance Saturday against Kansas City. Munoz is up to seven saves in nine opportunities on the campaign. His 5.79 ERA is far from pretty, but it's largely due to a five-run blowup over two-thirds of an inning April 15 versus San Diego.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Blows save Saturday

Munoz blew the save in Saturday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Royals, allowing one unearned run on two hits and no walks with one strikeout in the ninth inning. Munoz was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the ninth but gave up a run on a one-out single that was uncharacteristically misplayed by Julio Rodriguez. It continued what has been a somewhat rocky start for the top-tier closer, though the appearance actually lowered Munoz's season ERA from 6.00 to 5.54. Overall, he's 6-for-8 in save chances while also posting a 1.38 WHIP and 21:6 K:BB across 13 innings in the early going.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Notches save No. 5

Munoz walked one and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his fifth save of the season in an 11-9 win over the Cardinals. The right-hander fired only seven of his 14 pitches for strikes, but Munoz escaped taking any damage after a leadoff walk by getting Nathan Church to ground into a double play. Munoz has blown only one save chance so far this season, but a couple shaky appearances have left him with a 6.55 ERA and 1.45 WHIP through 11 innings despite an 18:6 K:BB. Should he falter enough as Seattle's closer, Matt Brash -- who picked up the win Saturday -- has yet to allow an earned run in 2026 and would be the next man up.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Strikes out three in save

Munoz struck out three and did not allow a hit or a walk during a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Rangers. Munoz's wild pitch allowed Jake Burger to get on base, but he was stranded there. Munoz has had a couple of abysmal showings in non-save situations, but he's converted all three of his save chances so far while keeping runs off the board in seven of his nine appearances. He's pitched to a 7.88 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB across eight innings this season. As long as Munoz continues to lock down saves, his status as closer should hold firm.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Secures first save

Munoz walked two and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Friday's 9-6 win over the Astros. Munoz hadn't gotten a save chance before Friday, mostly due to the Mariners' underwhelming performance early in the season. He was a little shaky, throwing just 12 of 25 pitches for strikes, but he got the job done. Munoz has allowed three runs (two earned) over five innings this season, scattering three hits and two walks while racking up eight strikeouts. If the Mariners get on track, the save chances should follow for the 27-year-old, who converted 38 of his 45 save opportunities in the 2025 regular season while adding a dominant 1.73 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 62.1 innings.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Strikes out three in spring return

Munoz allowed a hit and a walk while striking out three in a scoreless inning in Sunday's Cactus League matchup with the Reds. Munoz was sharp in his return from the World Baseball Classic, where he allowed a run in two innings with Team Mexico. The 27-year-old Munoz is expected to be one of the game's top closers again in 2026 after converting 38 of 45 save opportunities while posting a sparkling 1.73 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP and 83 strikeouts across 62.1 innings last year.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Club option for 2026 exercised

The Mariners exercised Munoz's $6 million option for 2026, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports. Munoz saved 38 regular-season games while posting a 1.73 ERA and 83:28 K:BB over 62.1 innings, so the Mariners made the easy decision to retain him at a bargain rate in 2026. The club also has an $8 million option for 2027 and $10 million option for 2028 on Munoz. The hard-throwing reliever should be one of the best closers in baseball again next season.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Collects three Ks in save

Munoz earned the save Thursday against the Royals, striking out three and allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning. Tasked with protecting a two-run lead, Munoz worked around a Vinnie Pasquantino double and a hit batter to lock down his 36th save of the season. It was just the second time this year that the right-hander has struck out three batters in an appearance. After a rocky stretch in which Munoz allowed runs in three of five outings, he's now strung together six consecutive scoreless appearances. The 26-year-old has been one of the league's top closers this season, ranking third in MLB in saves while carrying a 1.54 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 78:25 K:BB across 58.1 innings.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Registers 34th save

Munoz secured the save Tuesday against the Cardinals, striking out one and allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning. Munoz recorded his 34th save of the season in his third straight scoreless outing. The All-Star right-hander owns a 1.63 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 71:25 K:BB through 55.1 innings on the campaign. Munoz is third in the major leagues in saves for the year, and he's established a strong grip on the Seattle closer role.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Locks down 33rd save

Munoz picked up the save in Monday's 4-2 win over the Cardinals. He allowed no hits and a walk while striking out two over a scoreless inning. The hard-throwing righty made quick work of St. Louis, issuing only a one-out walk to Ivan Herrera before striking out Alec Burleson and Nolan Gorman to secure his 33rd save of the season. It was Munoz's first outing since Aug. 31, as Seattle's schedule since then featured a four-game losing skid followed by back-to-back blowout wins over Atlanta that didn't require his services.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Hangs on for 31st save

Munoz earned the save in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Padres, allowing a run on two hits in the ninth inning. Munoz allowed a run on a pair of doubles in the ninth inning, though he managed to strand the tying run on third base to pick up his 31st save this year. While Munoz has converted 10 straight save chances, he's been a bit shaky of late, allowing a run in three of his last four appearances. Overall, the right-hander sports a 1.56 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP and 66:24 K:BB across 52 innings this season.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Sloppy in 30th save

Munoz allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out two over one inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Athletics. Munoz gave up three straight one-out singles to bring in a run, and then loaded the bases with a walk. He was able to get the last two outs, but this was far from a pretty effort from the Seattle closer. He's given up two runs on seven hits and six walks while striking out nine over eight innings in August, picking up six saves in his eight appearances. Munoz is at a 1.47 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 63:24 K:BB through 49 innings this season. He reached the 30-save mark for the first time in his career by closing out Friday's game.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Survives rough inning for save

Munoz earned a save against the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out one batter over one inning. Munoz entered with a three-run cushion in the ninth frame, but the last-place White Sox certainly made him work for the save. Munoz's outing began with a solo homer by Michael Taylor, and the All-Star closer then walked the next two batters to put the tying runs on base with no outs. However, Munoz was able to right the ship, retiring the next three batters to escape the jam. Though his eight-game scoreless streak came to an end, he nabbed his 26th save of the campaign, tied for fourth most in the majors.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Nabs 25th save

Munoz picked up the save Sunday against the Rangers, allowing one walk and no hits with one strikeout over a scoreless ninth inning. Munoz walked the first batter he faced Sunday, but he retired the next two batters while the baserunner he walked was caught stealing. Munoz has thrown eight consecutive scoreless innings, racking up four saves during that stretch. He's one of five relievers with at least 25 saves this season.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Navigates trouble for save

Munoz walked two and struck out two in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Brewers. Munoz walked two of the first three batters he faced and also uncorked a wild pitch before settling down to secure the save. He's given up two runs over seven innings in July while converting four of his five save chances this month. After going over two months without allowing an earned run to begin the year, Munoz has been more human since May 30, allowing eight runs (six earned) over 14.1 innings with a 21:9 K:BB in that span. He's 22-for-28 in save chances with a 1.42 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 50:17 K:BB through 38 innings on the year.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Collects 21st save

Munoz tallied the save in Sunday's 1-0 victory over the Pirates, striking out one in a clean inning. The Seattle closer succinctly capped his team's weekend sweep of Pittsburgh with a tidy 14-pitch frame. Munoz has now completed nine consecutive appearances without allowing an earned run, over which he's pitched to a 0.82 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB across 7.1 innings. The flamethrowing right-hander was deservedly named to his second All-Star team Sunday, as he's pitched to a 1.06 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 45:13 K:BB over 34 total innings.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Nabs 18th save

Munoz picked up the save Sunday against the Angels, allowing one walk and no hits with two strikeouts over a scoreless ninth inning. Munoz blew each of his last two save chances, but he bounced back with a scoreless ninth frame Sunday to grab his first save since May 23. The 26-year-old hadn't allowed an earned run before his pair of blown saves, and his ERA currently sits at 1.35. Munoz's 18 saves rank third in baseball.

  • Mariners' Andres Munoz: Blows save Friday

Munoz allowed three runs on four hits and struck out two without walking a batter over one inning, taking a blown save in Friday's 12-6 extra-inning loss to the Twins. Munoz fell apart in the ninth inning, allowing a two-run home run to Willi Castro and the game-tying RBI single to Trevor Larnach. The earned runs were the first of the year for Munoz. The 26-year-old is still at a sterling 1.09 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 31:8 K:BB while converting 17 of 20 save chances over 24.2 innings.
