The Rangers placed Webb on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to Tuesday, due to back spasms.

Webb may have started feeling symptoms during his last outing Monday against the Angels, when he allowed one run on two hits while striking out four across 1.2 innings. He'll undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury and an estimated schedule for a return, but his absence will require the Rangers to lean more on Cole Winn and Caleb Boushley for relief work. The Rangers recalled Luis Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.

The Rays optioned Gray to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.

The move makes room on the 26-man roster for Brandon Lowe (foot), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Gray was acquired by the Rays from the White Sox on Saturday, and he has spent most of the season at the Triple-A level, where he slashed .270/.333/.472 with three steals, four triples, nine home runs and 44 RBI across 282 plate appearances.

The Rays activated Lowe (foot) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Lowe required just the minimum 10 days on the IL while recovering from plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He is starting at second base and batting second in Wednesday's contest against the Yankees in what could be his final game in a Rays uniform prior to Thursday's trade deadline. Tristan Gray was optioned to Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move.

The Astros re-signed Guillorme to a minor-league contract Wednesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

The veteran infielder elected free agency earlier in the week after being outrighted by Houston, but he's back in the organization on a new deal. After being called up by the Astros in mid-June, Guillorme went 3-for-20 in 12 games before going down with a hamstring injury a few weeks later.

The Rangers recalled Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Curvelo spent time on the Rangers' taxi squad in early June but never received a spot on the 26-man roster. He'll officially join Texas' bullpen this time, however, after logging a 3.26 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 40 strikeouts through 38.2 innings at Round Rock. The 24-year-old righty will be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

The Yankees transferred Schmidt (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

Schmidt is slated to miss the rest of the season and most of the 2026 campaign after undergoing an internal brace surgery on his right elbow July 11. The transaction clears room on the 40-man roster for outfielder Austin Slater, whom the Yankees acquired in a trade with the White Sox on Wednesday.

The Yankees optioned Escarra to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

The move will make room on the 26-man active roster for outfielder Austin Slater, whom the Yankees acquired from the White Sox. Escarra has appeared in 39 games for the Yankees this season and has slashed .205/.299/.337 with one steal, two home runs and 10 RBI across 97 plate appearances. With Escarra down in Triple-A, Ben Rice will serve as the top backup to No. 1 catcher Austin Wells.

Urias isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Urias will sit down for Wednesday's series finale after going 1-for-6 with a run scored over the Athletics' last two games against Seattle. Max Schuemann will shift to second base to cover for Urias while Darell Hernaiz starts at shortstop.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Wednesday that Garcia (ankle/elbow) could be a week or so away from resuming a throwing program, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Though Garcia was placed on the injured list July 5 due to a left ankle sprain, the Blue Jays recently revealed that he had also been experiencing ulnar nerve symptoms in his right elbow. He received a cortisone shot last week to address the elbow issue, and the Blue Jays are still waiting for the injection to alleviate some of the discomfort before clearing him to throw. The reliever will probably require a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated, so he's unlikely to be an option for the Toronto bullpen until the second half of August.

Moncada (hand) will start at third base and bat sixth Wednesday against the Rangers, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Moncada missed three consecutive starts after getting hit on his right hand by a pitch Saturday, though he entered Tuesday's game off the bench and went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored. He'll now rejoin the starting nine for Wednesday's series finale and aim to turn things around after going 3-for-19 at the plate to begin the second half.
