  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Taking seat against southpaw

Beavers is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs. The left-handed-hitting Beavers was included in the lineup Tuesday against Cubs southpaw Matthew Boyd, but the outfielder will head to the bench for the finale while Chicago sends another lefty (David Peterson) to the bump. Tyler O'Neill will replace Beavers in right field and will bat fifth.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Heading to bench versus lefty

Beavers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Beavers will hit the bench along with three other left-handed hitters (Colton Cowser, Samuel Basallo and Jackson Holliday) while the Orioles stock up on right-handed bats against Nick Lodolo. Since coming off the injured list June 28, Beavers has appeared in four games and has gone just 1-for-14 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run. Now holding down an underwhelming .222/.308/.342 slash line on the season, Beavers could be in danger of ceding starts to the likes of Leody Taveras or Tyler O'Neill if he's unable to improve on his production.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Sitting Saturday

Beavers is not in the Orioles' starting lineup against the Reds on Saturday. Beavers will be on the bench while Taylor Ward, Colton Cowser and Leody Taveras start in the outfield for the Orioles on Saturday from left to right. Since returning from the 10-day injured list last weekend, Beavers has gone 1-for-14 with one RBI and five strikeouts.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Joins team Saturday

Beavers (oblique) is in Baltimore before Saturday's matchup against Washington after playing in six rehab games, and he could soon be activated from the injured list, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Beavers, who was placed on the injured list May 13 with a right oblique strain, is feeling good and appears on the cusp of being reinstated. The 24-year-old is going through a workout Saturday after participating in six rehab games, which could be the final hurdle before activation. Prior to hitting the IL, Beavers slashed .243/.331/.369 with two homers and 12 RBI in 119 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Struggling during rehab assignment

Beavers (oblique) has gone just 1-for-20 (.050) with a run scored and five walks over his first six games during his minor-league rehab assignment. Beavers was hitless in nine at-bats with Double-A Chesapeake before having his assignment moved to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, and he's gone just 1-for-11 since then. The Orioles might want to see the 24-year-old outfielder find his timing at the plate before they consider reinstating him from the injured list, so Beavers' return to the major leagues may have to wait until early July.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Beginning assignment Thursday

Beavers (oblique) is expected to begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Chesapeake on Thursday, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports. Beavers was cleared to begin facing live pitching Monday, and barring a sudden setback, he'll begin testing his strained right oblique in a competitive setting later this week. The 24-year-old outfielder has been sidelined for about a month and will likely require a handful of appearances in the minors before being cleared to return from the IL.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Hits in batting cage

Beavers (oblique) hit in the batting cage Wednesday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports. It's the first time he's hit in the cage since going down with a right oblique strain in mid-May. Whether Beavers is asked to go out on a rehab assignment before rejoining the Orioles' active roster isn't clear, but he appears close to participating in a game setting of some kind.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Shelved by oblique strain

The Orioles placed Beavers on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right oblique strain, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports. Beavers hasn't played since Sunday, and an MRI on Wednesday revealed a strain that will likely sideline the outfielder for a few weeks. Manager Craig Albernaz said it's a "low grade" strain, so Beavers might not be out long. With Beavers out, Tyler O'Neill has made three consecutive starts in right field, and he should continue to see an uptick in playing time.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Sitting versus lefty again

Beavers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. The left-handed hitter will head to the bench against a second straight lefty starter in Max Fried. Tyler O'Neill will once again spell Beavers in right field.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Taking seat against southpaw

Beavers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Beavers will hit the bench for the third time in Baltimore's past five contests, with all three of those absences coming versus left-handed starting pitchers. The 24-year-old has gone 3-for-24 with seven walks and nine strikeouts in his past nine contests and has a .610 OPS on the season, so he may need to get on track soon in order to maintain regular playing time.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Absent from Opening Day lineup

Beavers is not in the lineup for Thursday's opener against the Twins. Beavers managed to avoid the injured list after being sidelined for the past week with tightness in his right knee and quadriceps. However, the left-handed batter is not in the lineup Opening Day versus righty Joe Ryan, as Orioles manager Craig Albernaz is going with righty bat Tyler O'Neill. It's not a surprise, as Beavers could be a bit rusty and O'Neill also has a major-league record six-game Opening Day home run streak on the line. Beavers and O'Neill are expected to share right field for Baltimore this season rather than operate in a strict platoon.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Dealing with quad tightness

Beavers said Saturday that he felt tightness in his quad while running Friday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Beavers has reportedly been having trouble with his right quad for a few days, and it bothered him enough Friday for the Orioles to scratch him from their Grapefruit League lineup. He remains optimistic that he'll be ready for Opening Day, though the team hasn't announced any official timeline.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Scratched from lineup

Beavers has been scratched from Friday's spring training game against the Yankees due to right knee discomfort, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Beavers had a right knee issue pop up pregame, and it'll prevent him from playing in the contest. While more information on Beavers' health should be provided in the next 24 hours, he can be considered day-to-day for now.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Exits with shin injury

Beavers was removed from Friday's game against the Yankees with right shin discomfort, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Beavers fouled a ball off his lower leg during his at-bat in the fourth inning and was replaced on defense once the O's took the field in the bottom of the frame. The severity of the outfielder's injury isn't immediately clear, but with just two games remaining in the regular season, it's possible the team could keep Beavers on the bench to close out the year as a precaution.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Goes deep in win

Beavers went 2-for-5 with a home run, a triple and three RBI in Tuesday's win against the White Sox. Beavers knocked an RBI triple in the fifth inning before belting a two-run homer in the seventh. It was his second career long ball and first since Aug. 21, snapping a 20-game drought. Beavers owns a strong .275/.420/.438 slash line with eight extra-base hits and 11 RBI through his first 101 plate appearances, but he has only one steal in two attempts for Baltimore after going 23-for-28 on the basepaths at Triple-A Norfolk prior to his promotion.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Taking seat Sunday

Beavers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. The left-handed-hitting Beavers will head to the bench for the series finale while the Dodgers send southpaw Clayton Kershaw to the hill. Dylan Carlson will step in for Beavers in left field.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Idle against southpaw

Beavers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. With a lefty (Nestor Cortes) on the hill for San Diego, the left-handed-hitting Beavers will retreat to the bench after a stretch of five consecutive starts. Since receiving his first MLB call-up Aug. 16, Beavers is hitting .314 with one home run, one stolen base and a 16.4 percent walk rate through 61 plate appearances. The 24-year-old outfielder should get the chance to play on a near-everyday basis for the rest of the season.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: First day off Monday

Beavers is not in the lineup for Monday's contest against the Red Sox. Beavers started in each of the first eight games for the Orioles upon getting called up from Triple-A Norfolk on Aug. 16, but he will begin Monday's series opener on the bench. The Orioles faced all righties during those eight games and are going up against a left-handed opener in Brennan Bernardino on Monday, but the left-handed-hitting Beavers won't necessarily be deployed exclusively as a strong-side platoon player over the final five weeks of the season. Beavers will give up his spot in left field to Dylan Carlson on Monday.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Hits first big-league homer

Beavers went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two total RBI in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Astros. Beavers took Jason Alexander deep in the second inning and added a second RBI with a fielder's choice in the sixth. The homer was the first of Beavers' big-league career. He's off to a great start in the majors, batting .294 (5-for-17) with a 5:5 BB:K over his first five games. He'll likely continue to hold down a starting role in the corner outfield for the remainder of the campaign as long as his hitting stays strong.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Set for MLB debut

The Orioles selected Beavers' contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday. A top prospect in the Orioles' farm system, Beavers will make his MLB debut when he gets into a game. The 23-year-old has put together an outstanding .304/.420/.515 slash line at Norfolk to go along with 18 homers and 23 stolen bases. The outfielder should have a chance at regular playing time while Tyler O'Neill (wrist) is on the shelf. Greg Allen was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
