  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Secures third save

Taylor earned the save in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Guardians, allowing no hits and one walk with one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning. Taylor was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning and did so on 17 pitches. It was a nice rebound after the 24-year-old blew a save chance Thursday, and he still owns a 2.96 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 65:15 K:BB across 45.2 innings this season despite allowing eight earned runs over his past eight appearances. He's now converted three of six save chances to go along with five holds and appears to be taking the lead for the closer role over the struggling Seranthony Dominguez.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Charged with loss, blown save

Taylor (4-2) took the loss and blew the save Thursday against the Guardians, allowing two runs on one hit and two walks in 1.1 innings. He struck out two. Even though Seranthony Dominguez has blown back-to-back saves, Taylor isn't making much of a case for ninth-inning work. The 24-year-old right-hander has coughed up eight runs in his last seven outings, blowing two save chances during that stretch. Taylor still has a strong 3.02 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 64:14 K:BB over 44.1 innings, but he's converted only two of his five save opportunities and has just five holds.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Secures second save

Taylor struck out three batters in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Phillies. Taylor was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the ninth inning and struck out the side on 14 pitches to earn his second save of the year. Seranthony Dominguez appeared in the eighth inning Saturday and threw just 11 pitches, but the White Sox opted to go with Taylor, who hadn't pitched since Wednesday. The 24-year-old has been fantastic this season, posting a 1.93 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 50:9 K:BB with two saves and four holds across 32.2 innings.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Serving as opener again Sunday

Taylor will open Sunday's series finale against Kansas City, and Jonathan Cannon is slated to be called up to work in bulk relief, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. Taylor has previously opened three games for Chicago and has been effective in that role, allowing one hit while posting a 3:0 K:BB over three scoreless innings. It's not an appealing role from a fantasy perspective, however, as it removes the possibility of Taylor notching a win, hold or save. Cannon, meanwhile, is slated for his first MLB appearance of the campaign after opening the season with Triple-A Charlotte.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Opening again Monday

Taylor will open Monday's game against the Orioles, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. This will be Taylor's third game as an opener out of five total appearances this season. Thus far, he has been perfect with two strikeouts in two innings as an opener after giving up one run while issuing two walks in two innings as a traditional reliever. Taylor will potentially be stretched out as a starter in 2027, and he has much more history working as a starter, so he may be most comfortable in this opener role. The White Sox may continue to use Taylor in this role as long as things are going well, which limits his fantasy utility in roto leagues, as he can't qualify for wins or saves in the opening role.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Opening again Saturday

Taylor will serve as the White Sox's opening pitcher again Saturday against the Blue Jays, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Taylor started Friday's contest with a scoreless frame before handing things over to Sean Burke in a game Chicago won in 10 innings. The team will go right back to the well Saturday with Taylor opening ahead of Anthony Kay. Taylor now sits with a 3.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 5:2 K:BB across three innings this season.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Serving as opener Friday

Taylor will be the White Sox' opening pitcher in Friday's game against the Blue Jays, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports. Taylor will take the ball first as the White Sox begin their first homestand of the season before handing things off to Sean Burke, who will handle the bulk of the innings. The 23-year-old Taylor has tossed one inning in each of his first two appearances this season but is expected to eventually stretch out to cover multiple frames, as his goal is to reach 100 innings in 2026 before moving into the rotation in 2027.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Transitioning to long relief

General manager Chris Getz said Wednesday that Taylor will likely work as a multi-inning reliever in 2026, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Taylor posted a 4.91 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 36.2 innings with the White Sox in 2025, although just five of his 36 big-league appearances lasted longer than one inning. It's possible Taylor's new role may be the next step in a plan to introduce him to the rotation down the line, but for now, the 23-year-old holds minimal fantasy value since he's out of the rotation and unlikely to receive late-inning work.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Earns sixth save

Taylor earned the save in Friday's 10-9 win over the Nationals, allowing one hit and no walks with two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning. Taylor was tasked with protecting a one-run lead in the ninth inning and closed the door on 16 pitches. The 23-year-old has now strung together 10 straight scoreless outings, posting a sharp 16:3 K:BB in that span. For the season, he's recorded six saves and nine holds while carrying a 4.91 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 54:15 K:BB across 36.2 innings.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Secures fifth save

Taylor struck out two in a clean inning to pick up the save in Friday's 4-3 win versus the Padres. With this 12-pitch effort, Taylor notched his first save since Aug. 10 to make a mess out of the White Sox closer situation again. Jordan Leasure (three saves) and Mike Vasil (one save) had previously tallied the other four saves for the Chicago bullpen this month. Although Taylor pitched to a 9.31 ERA, 2.17 WHIP and 9:5 K:BB in five innings across seven appearances and nursed a groin injury since his last save, he apparently still has his manager's trust. Leasure, who pitched 1.2 scoreless frames in this contest after entering in the seventh, likely remains the favorite to garner future save chances for the White Sox, but it's apparent Vasil and Taylor will still see opportunities here and there.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Available Tuesday

Taylor (groin) will be available out of the bullpen for Tuesday's game against the Orioles, Jack Ankony of SI.com reports. Taylor hasn't pitched since suffering a groin strain during Wednesday's game versus the Rays. After coming away from his bullpen session Monday without any issues, the White Sox have given him the green light to return to game action. The 23-year-old hasn't exactly been effective in his MLB debut, accumulating a 5.68 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 31.2 innings.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Throws bullpen session

Taylor (groin) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Monday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Taylor had to be removed from an outing last Wednesday due to a right groin strain and hasn't made an appearance since. The White Sox will see how the reliever rebounds Tuesday before determining when he might be available to pitch again.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Leaves with injury

Taylor was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rays with a right groin strain. The White Sox turned to Taylor in a save situation Wednesday, but he had to come out of the game after throwing just seven pitches with decreased velocity. The White Sox will further evaluate him Thursday, at which point more details regarding the severity of his injury may be revealed. If he requires a stint on the IL, his absence could lead to more high-leverage work for Brandon Eisert or Steven Wilson going forward.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Pitching as opener Sunday

Taylor will serve as the White Sox's opening pitcher for Sunday's game against the Cubs, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. Sean Burke had previously been scheduled to start Sunday's series finale, but the White Sox announced late Saturday that Taylor will open the contest. Taylor will be making his second start of the season, but he's not likely to pitch more than an inning or two, as he hasn't thrown more than three innings at any level in 2025. It's not yet clear if Burke was pulled from the start due to an injury or if he's simply going to pitch in bulk relief behind Taylor.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Allows comeback Wednesday

Taylor (0-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Dodgers, allowing three runs on one hit and two walks over 1.1 innings. He struck out two Taylor entered in the eighth frame with a two-run lead and retired the side, but he returned for the ninth inning and fell apart. He allowed a single and back-to-back walks to load the bases with no outs, and then was pulled after Shohei Ohtani hit an RBI fielder's choice. Steven Wilson replaced Taylor but couldn't prevent two of the runners Taylor put on from scoring, resulting in the Dodgers' comeback win. Taylor has allowed six runs in 11.1 innings and has blown one of his three save chances, but the White Sox seem content to trot the highly touted 23-year-old out there in high-leverage situations during a lost season, at least for now.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Earns first big-league save

Taylor earned the save in Sunday's 4-2 win over Toronto, allowing one hit while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning. Taylor allowed a single to George Springer to lead off the ninth, though he quickly erased him with a double-play ball before striking out Addison Barger to lock down his first major-league save. Sunday's outing marked just the sixth appearance for Taylor, though he's quickly worked his way up the White Sox bullpen hierarchy. He's allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out seven through his first six innings in the majors after posting a 1.01 ERA with 37 strikeouts over 26.2 innings with Double-A Birmingham this season.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Opening Friday's contest

Taylor will serve as the White Sox's opening pitcher for Friday's game against the Blue Jays, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. The 23-year-old was called up by the White Sox on June 10 and has allowed two earned runs with a 5:1 K:BB over four frames in his first four big-league appearances, all in relief. Taylor was in the rotation for his first six outings of the season for Double-A Birmingham before being shifted to relief for his subsequent nine appearances, so the right-hander is likely to have a limited workload Friday.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Officially promoted

The White Sox selected Taylor's contract from Double-A Birmingham on Tuesday. The move was first reported Monday and has now been made official. Taylor had spun 9.1 scoreless innings with an 18:1 K:BB over his last nine appearances after being shifted to the bullpen at Birmingham. The 23-year-old has the look of a future closer, and the ninth inning for the White Sox is wide open. However, Taylor is likely to be eased into high-leverage spots.

  • White Sox's Grant Taylor: Makes pro debut

Taylor (elbow) struck out seven and allowed three earned runs on three hits and one walk over 3.1 innings in his season debut Friday for the White Sox's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate. A 2023 second-round draft pick out of LSU, Taylor didn't make his professional debut last summer while he completed his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which cost him his entire final season of college. Set to turn 22 years old later this month, Taylor likely won't stick around in rookie ball for long and will likely report to Single-A Kannapolis or High-A Winston-Salem once he gets stretched out a bit more.
