  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Takes third straight loss

Leiter (3-7) took the loss Thursday against the Twins, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out four. The Twins got to Leiter early Thursday, scoring four runs in the first inning, capped by a Brooks Lee three-run blast. He'd give up another two runs on a Trevor Larnach homer in the fourth. It's been a tough stretch of late for Leiter, who's lost his last three starts while giving up 15 earned runs across 13.2 innings. His ERA now sits at 5.29 with a 1.44 WHIP and 83:35 K:BB across 15 starts (80 innings) this season. Leiter will look to turn things around his next time out, tentatively slated to come next week on the road in Miami.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Struggles again Friday

Leiter (3-6) took the loss against the Red Sox on Friday, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out three batters across five innings. Leiter had a 1-0 lead to work with when he first took the mound Friday, but he watched it quickly disappear as Wilyer Abreu drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and Willson Contreras homered in the next at-bat to make it a 2-1 game after the first inning. Leiter then gave up four consecutive hits to lead off the fifth inning, sparking a four-run outburst from the Red Sox that would put the game well out of reach. The 26-year-old righty has now given up exactly five earned runs in back-to-back starts and has amassed just five combined strikeouts during those outings. He'll aim to right the ship next week against the Twins at home.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Takes step back Saturday

Leiter (3-5) took the loss against Cleveland on Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two batters over 4.2 innings. Leiter entered Saturday with back-to-back victories, including a 10-strikeout performance over 5.2 scoreless innings his previous time out. The right-hander opened his outing against Cleveland with three more scoreless frames before Jose Ramirez tagged him for a solo homer in the fourth. Things got much worse for Leiter in the fifth, when the Guardians got to him for four runs on a walk and four hits, including another solo homer, before he was lifted with two outs. The five runs Leiter allowed tied a season-worst mark, and this was the third time he's given up multiple homers in an outing. Overall, he has registered an unremarkable 4.69 ERA and 1.37 WHIP along with a 76:31 K:BB over 71 innings spanning 13 starts.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Pitches well enough to win

Leiter (2-4) earned the win over Houston on Tuesday, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four batters over six innings. Leiter had an 8-0 lead to work with after one inning, and though he didn't dominate, the right-hander did more than enough to finish with a victory for the first time since his initial start of the campaign. Leiter threw 60 of 95 pitches for strikes and notched 12 whiffs. The 26-year-old isn't setting the world on fire with a 4.75 ERA and 1.37 WHIP through 60.2 innings, but he's been giving the Rangers length of late by completing six frames four times over his past six starts. Leiter is projected to next take the mound this weekend versus Kansas City.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Escapes with no-decision

Leiter pitched five innings Wednesday against the Rockies, giving up four runs on seven hits and two walks to take a no-decision. He struck out five. Leiter surrendered more than three runs in a start for the fifth time this season and remains without a win since his season debut March 30. The 26-year-old had a 3-1 lead after the top of the fourth inning Wednesday, but he walked home a run in the bottom of the frame and then gave up two more runs in the fifth. Leiter has a 4.61 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 60:23 K:BB across 54.2 innings this year and next lines up to face the Astros at home early next week.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Tagged with unfortunate loss

Leiter (1-4) was tagged with the loss Friday against the Astros after allowing one run on three hits and three walks across seven innings. He struck out six. Leiter's only mistake in his outing was the solo homer he gave up to Isaac Paredes in the third inning. It's only two starts, but Leiter seems to be turning things around after a tough stretch that saw him allow 21 runs (20 earned) on 27 innings across five starts between April 11 and May 3. Leiter has bounced back and has allowed just one run on 11.2 frames in his last two starts. Leiter will try to keep it rolling in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for next week against the Rockies on the road.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Strikes out 10 in loss

Leiter (1-3) allowed five runs on five hits and a walk while striking out 10 over 6.2 innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Tigers. Leiter threw 73 of 100 pitches for strikes, but the Tigers were able to string some offense together against him from the fifth inning on. He's now allowed at least three runs in each of his last five outings, but he was able to limit walks in this game. For the season, Leiter has a 5.45 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 43:13 K:BB through 38 innings across seven starts. The 26-year-old right-hander has strikeout upside and strong potential if he can keep the walks down. He also needs to work on the homers, as he's given up four of them over his last two starts. Leiter's next start is projected to come at home versus the Cubs.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Serves up three homers in loss

Leiter (1-2) took the loss against the Yankees on Monday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four batters over six innings. All four runs Leiter gave up came across the third and fourth innings, and all four were courtesy of the long ball. It was the first time the right-hander gave up more than two homers in a game this season, and it snapped a string of two straight homerless outings by Leiter. He did tie a season high by completing six frames, but Leiter has now given up at least three earned runs in four straight starts. He'll carry an unhappy 5.17 ERA into his next start, which lines up to be a road matchup against the Tigers.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Cleared to start Monday

Leiter (ankle) is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Yankees. The right-hander suffered an ankle injury during his previous start against the Pirates on Wednesday, but he's ready to go for his next turn through the rotation. After giving up just three earned runs across his first two starts of the campaign, Leiter has labored to a 6.91 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 12:9 K:BB over his past three outings.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Narrowly misses quality start

Leiter took a no-decision Thursday against the Athletics, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out three. Leiter really worked to try and make it through six frames for the second time this year, firing a season-high 105 pitches, but a Darell Hernaiz single brought his outing to an end with two outs in the sixth. The hard-throwing right-hander was perhaps a bit fortunate to have surrendered only three runs, considering he gave up a season-high seven knocks and fanned a season-low three. Leiter owns a dicey 4.87 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB over 20.1 innings this year, though he does have a favorable matchup up next versus the Pirates.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Struggles against Dodgers

Leiter (1-1) allowed five runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four batters over 3.2 innings in a loss against the Dodgers on Saturday. The Rangers handed Leiter a 1-0 first-inning lead, but he quickly gave that back when Shohei Ohtani led off the bottom of the first with a homer. Teoscar Hernandez went deep for a three-run shot five batters later, and Texas never made up the deficit. In addition to the long balls, Leiter struggled with his control, throwing just 54 of 93 pitches for strikes and issuing four walks after handing out just two free passes over his first two starts. Leiter had been pitching well coming into Saturday, with a particularly impressive 17:2 K:BB across his first 11 frames, so the poor outing against a star-studded Dodgers lineup shouldn't cause fantasy managers to give up on him just yet. The right-hander's next start is lined up to come on the road versus the Athletics.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Strikes out nine in no-decision

Leiter did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Reds, allowing one run on four hits and one walk with nine strikeouts over five innings. Leiter allowed a run in the fourth inning but was otherwise impressive, inducing 18 swinging strikes on 85 pitches. The 25-year-old posted a 3.28 ERA with a 79:29 K:BB across 13 starts after the All-Star break in 2025 and has carried that momentum into this season, tallying 17 strikeouts while allowing just three earned runs over 11 frames. He'll face a tough test in a road matchup against the Dodgers next weekend.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Works five innings Thursday

Leiter allowed two runs on five hits while striking out six over five innings in Thursday's spring start against the Athletics. Leiter faced an overly aggressive Athletics team that often swung at the first pitch, and the righty needed just 57 pitches to get 15 outs while issuing zero walks. Leiter headed to the bullpen for extra work after being removed to reach his 70-pitch goal for the day. He also gave up two more home runs, upping his Cactus League total to five allowed in 12 innings, but that can be expected in hitter-friendly Cactus League ballparks. Last season, he allowed 18 over 151 big-league innings (1.1 HR/9).

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Inefficient start Saturday

Leiter allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings in Saturday's Cactus League start against the Dodgers. Leiter needed 45 pitches to get those four outs, spread across three different innings. The three up-and-downs were a positive this early in camp, but the right-hander allowed three extra-base hits, including a Dalton Rushing home run in the first inning, and he managed to throw just 24 strikes. Leiter also featured more of the cutter he's been working on during the offseason, delivering seven of them, so the results may be less important than the process in this outing.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Fades in ninth loss

Leiter (9-9) allowed six runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk while striking out four over 6.2 innings to take the loss versus the Astros on Monday. Leiter gave up a two-run home run to Zach Cole in the fifth inning just after the Rangers had grabbed their first lead of the game. Leiter was then charged with two more runs in the seventh, though mistakes by the Rangers' defense throughout the game allowed the right-hander to still secure a quality start. He's given up no more than three earned runs in each of his last 15 starts, though six of those outings have been shorter than five innings. Leiter is at a decent 3.82 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 134:65 K:BB through 139 innings across 27 starts this season. He is tentatively projected for a home matchup versus the Marlins this weekend.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Career-high 10 Ks vs. Cleveland

Leiter (8-7) earned the win against the Guardians on Saturday, allowing two hits while striking out 10 across seven scoreless innings. He did not issue a walk. Leiter entered Saturday's game having issued at least two walks in eight straight starts while failing to reach the fifth inning in two of his last three outings. However, the 25-year-old right-hander was in total control against Cleveland, yielding just two singles while recording a career-high 10 strikeouts. It was the first time he took a scoreless outing past the sixth frame, and the Rangers' bullpen kept the Guardians off the board over the last two innings to complete the shutout. Saturday's efforts lowered Leiter's ERA and WHIP to 3.81 and 1.31, respectively, across 115.2 innings, and his 111 strikeouts is third most on the Rangers behind Jacob deGrom (148) and Nathan Eovaldi (129). Leiter is slated to make his next start on the road against the Athletics next weekend.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Control issues persist in loss

Leiter (7-7) took the loss Monday against the Royals, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out five. Limiting free passes remains a major issue for Leiter, who walked multiple batters in his eighth consecutive start. The six hits allowed were also his most since his June 29 outing against the Mariners, and the hard-throwing right-hander served up multiple home runs for the first time since his June 17 appearance against these same Royals. Leiter has a shaky 3.62 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 43:25 K:BB across 37.1 innings since the beginning of July, but he's next set to face a Guardians team that has an underwhelming .650 OPS since the beginning of August.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Gets early hook Wednesday

Leiter came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out three. The young righty threw only 33 of 68 pitches for strikes before getting the hook, as Leiter failed to complete at least five innings for the third time in six starts since the beginning of July. Despite those struggles, he's still managed to post a respectable 3.45 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 28.2 innings over that stretch, albeit with a 1.46 WHIP and 20 walks. Leiter will look to improve his efficiency in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Diamondbacks.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Earns win over Atlanta

Leiter (7-6) allowed a run on two hits and three walks while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win over Atlanta on Sunday. Leiter allowed three of those baserunners and the lone run on his line in the second inning, but he settled down well after that and received plenty of run support. He's won three starts in a row, allowing just six runs over his last 17.1 innings despite a 20:11 K:BB in that span. Leiter is now at a 4.09 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 83:45 K:BB through 92.1 innings across 18 starts this season. His next start is projected to be at Seattle.

  • Rangers' Jack Leiter: Strikes out six in win

Leiter (5-6) picked up the win after throwing 5.1 innings, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks while striking out six, during Friday's 7-3 win over the Astros. Leiter did enough to pick up the win Friday, aided by five runs of support during his outing, but struggled with his control again. The right-hander walked four batters to bring his season total up to 38 in 80.1 innings. On the flip side, the 25-year-old has struck out 18 batters over his last three starts, his most over a three-start stretch at any point this season. He enters the All-Star break with a 4.37 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 1.8 K/BB this season.
