Volpe went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 6-5 win over the Rays.

The rookie shortstop socked a solo shot off Josh Fleming in the fifth inning before adding an RBI single in the seventh. Volpe has two homers in the last three games, giving him five on the season, but he's still looking for some consistency in the majors -- through 11 games in May, he's batting just .191 (9-for-47) with a 2:12 BB:K.

Smith went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-7 victory over Texas.

Smith's 433-foot shot to left-center tied the game at 3-3 in the fourth inning. This marks just the sixth homer of the shortstop's career, and he still hasn't batted over .200 in a big-league season.

Franco went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts Friday against the Yankees.

Franco exited Thursday's game against the Yankees with a neck injury but was able to immediately return to the lineup. He had a subpar performance Friday and struck out multiple times in a game for the sixth time this season. That's hardly a reason for concern, however, as he has a .307/.363/.536 slash line across 168 plate appearances on the campaign.

DeJong went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 8-6 win over the Red Sox.

DeJong also created a run when he grounded into a double play in the sixth inning. The shortstop has posted just two hitless efforts across his seven games in May. He's up to a .340/.404/.596 slash line with three home runs, six RBI, eight runs scored, three doubles and a steal through 14 contests this season. He'll likely continue to play on the short side of a platoon at shortstop, with Tommy Edman shifting over there against right-handed pitchers to allow Nolan Gorman to start at second base.

Reyes will have his contract selected by Boston from Triple-A Worcester on Saturday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

It's already been reported that Bobby Dalbec is being sent down to Worcester before Saturday's game against the Cardinals, so this will be the corresponding transaction. Reyes was traded from Oakland to Boston on Friday, and the 29-year-old will provide some utility depth with the ability to play all over the diamond.

Adames went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 5-1 win over the Royals.

Adames went hitless for the second time in the last three games, but he was at least able to swipe his first bag since April 13. The shortstop isn't particularly speedy, but he's up to three steals in four tries this season. He's slashing .225/.321/.406 with seven home runs, 23 RBI, 20 runs scored and four doubles over 38 contests in an everyday role.

Mondesi (knee) underwent a checkup in Boston last week, and he's still not ready to begin a rehab assignment at this time, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

The positive news is that all was OK in Mondesi's checkup, and he continues to ramp up his activities. Unfortunately for Mondesi and fantasy managers, he's still not ready to get back on the field and face live hitting, and there's no timetable for when that will occur. Mondesi is eligible to come off the 60-day injured list June 1, but it's very likely the speedy infielder will need more time before he's ready to contribute for the Red Sox.

Franco (neck) is in the Rays' lineup for Friday's game versus the Yankees, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Franco was forced from Thursday's game with neck spasms, but he's feeling well enough a day later to be back in action. The youngster is playing shortstop and batting second against Gerrit Cole.

Story (elbow) has been hitting and throwing at Boston's spring training complex in Florida, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Story's rehab from an internal bracing procedure of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow has gone well to this point. He's still in the relatively early stages of what will be a long road to recovery, but the infielder has a chance to join the Red Sox in the second half if he progresses as expected.

Marcano will start at shortstop and bat seventh Friday against the Orioles, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

This marks three straight starts for Marcano, alternating between short and second base. He hit his first homer of the year in Wednesday's series finale against the Rockies and the Pirates will ride the hot hand Friday in Baltimore. Ji Hwan Bae is at second and Rodolfo Castro is on the bench.
