  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Solo homer in loss

Adames went 2-for-5 with a double and a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to Pittsburgh.

Adames put the first run on the board for either team with a solo shot in the top of the sixth inning. It was his 21st home run of the year and his first since July 22. After a five-game hit streak ended July 25, the shortstop has struggled to get things going again, as he has six hits in his last 30 at-bats. Adames also has 10 strikeouts during that span. Even though he is batting .222 on the year, the penchant for hitting home runs is enough to keep him relevant in fantasy baseball.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Solo shot in loss

Lindor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss against Washington.

Lindor launched a solo shot in the sixth inning to tie the game at 1-1. It would turn out to be the Mets' only run of the game. Lindor is up to 19 home runs on the season after hitting homers in back-to-back games to start August. The shortstop extended his hit streak to nine games after Tuesday's solo shot, a streak that includes four multi-hit performances. Lindor raised his batting average from .245 to .261 during that span.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Starting Nats career at Triple-A

Abrams was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.

While Abrams figures prominently into Washington's long-term plans, he will break into his new organization in the minors. The 21-year-old shortstop hit .314/.364/.507 with seven home runs and 10 steals in 30 games at Triple-A while with San Diego, so he has a chance to hit the ground running with Rochester. If he impresses, he could be up with the big club in the coming weeks.

  • Luke Williams SS | ATL

Marlins' Luke Williams: Moves back into reserve role

Williams is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

After starting five consecutive games to begin last week while going 2-for-16 with two walks, a stolen base and three runs, Williams now finds himself on the bench for the fourth consecutive contest. The 25-year-old looks set to fill a utility role for the time being while the Marlins give new call-up Charles Leblanc a look as their regular third baseman.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Getting rare day off

Perdomo is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Guardians.

Tuesday's game will be just the fifth Perdomo has not started since the start of June, but he could probably use a day off after going 3-for-22 (.136) over his last eight games. Sergio Alcantara will fill the shortstop spot in Perdomo's place.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Bound for Washington in Soto deal

The Nationals acquired Abrams, first baseman/designated hitter Luke Voit, left-hander MacKenzie Gore (elbow), outfielders James Wood and Robert Hassell and right-hander Jarlin Susana from the Padres on Tuesday in exchange for outfielder Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Abrams recently exhausted his prospect eligibility, but at 22 years old, the lefty-hitting shortstop's developmental timeline fits in well with what could be a lengthy rebuilding effort for the Nationals. Though he's turned in an underwhelming .232/.285/.320 slash line over his 139 plate appearances in the majors with San Diego this season, Abrams' low strikeout rate (19.4 percent) and elite speed bode well for his chances of emerging as an impact big-league player as soon as 2023. He should get the chance to play on an everyday basis at shortstop for the Nationals for the remainder of the 2022 campaign, while Luis Garcia will likely slide over to second or third base to make room for Abrams.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Dodgers' Trea Turner: Smashes 17th homer

Turner went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a sacrifice fly in Monday's 8-2 win over the Giants.

Turner carried his hitting streak into August -- it's now at 19 games after his seventh-inning solo shot kept the streak alive. He's batting .346 (28-for-81) with six homers, 16 RBI, 18 runs scored and two stolen bases during the hot stretch. The shortstop has maintained a fantastic .309/.352/.507 slash line with 17 homers, 18 steals, 75 RBI and 62 runs scored through 448 plate appearances this season.

  • Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA

Braves' Ehire Adrianza: Dealt to Atlanta

Atlanta acquired Adrianza from Washington on Monday in exchange for minor-league outfielder Trey Harris.

The veteran utility man will be beginning his second stint in Atlanta, with whom he joined during the club's 2021 World Series-winning season. Just like a season ago, Atlanta presumably envisions Adrianza serving as a backup at three spots in the infield as well as the two corner-outfield spots, but his opportunities to start will be few and far between while the team is at optimal health. After missing the beginning of the season with a quadriceps injury, Adrianza debuted for Washington in early June and slashed .179/.255/.202 across 94 plate appearances prior to being traded. Atlanta designated second baseman Robinson Cano for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster for Adrianza.

  • Paul DeJong SS | DET

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Goes deep again Sunday

DeJong went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Nationals.

DeJong has carried over his power from Triple-A Memphis, homering in both games since he was recalled to the Cardinals. He's also started twice at shortstop. The 29-year-old is up to three long balls, 11 RBI, eight runs scored, three stolen bases and a .143/.213/.286 slash line through 94 plate appearances, though it appears his time in the minors has at least partially helped him get back on track.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Rehab assignment begins Tuesday

Crawford (knee) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Crawford began a running program this week and will play five innings in Sacramento on Tuesday. He'll likely be able to ramp up his workload Wednesday and will be in the mix to rejoin the Giants as early as Thursday against the Dodgers. The team has a scheduled day off Friday, so manager Gabe Kapler said that the club could wait to activate Crawford until Saturday. Dixon Machado and Jason Vosler will serve as the Giants' top two options at shortstop while Crawford remains sidelined.
